    Can't get protein in, HELP!

Premier protein vanilla flavored- every morning, I put 1/2 a shake in my coffee and bam! That's 15 grams protein before any food.
  2. Ahh, I feel incredibly lucky to have avoided the gas pain. I have chronic back pain, so I was up walking more than not- I suspect that helped. Not being able to take in any liquid the night after surgery is my biggest complaint. Bring Vaseline, carmex, blistex, chapstick- whatever your preference of lip balm, it helped me tremendously. Good luck! You'll be home before you know it, and posting to provide someone else with encouragement. [emoji5]
  3. Hi- I hear your concerns re: long-term efficacy. While reading this post, I kept thinking, what happens in 5, 10, 30 years down the road in the absence of surgery? I've been on more diets than years I've been alive (I'm 46), and surgery and post-op physically has been a breeze. I mean that sincerely; although I can obviously only speak for myself. The emotional piece has been a ride. The confusion about my body, its transformation, and the future have been more intense than I anticipated. Not only have I been in therapy with the same person for 25 years, but I'm also a therapist. You think I'd be prepared! As it turns out, I overcomplicated the physical/eating piece, and that's been a relief in many ways. Meaning, it's a relief to not have the physical ability to overeat. Anyhow, I know this is getting long and tangential, and for all I know you've resolved what you came here asking- but my personal bottom line is this: the surgery itself is straightforward and minimally invasive. I had zero pain, but cannot promise that! I think if you look at the surgery as a tool, as opposed to a solution, you'll put a lot less pressure on the whole thing, including yourself. Hope this makes sense! And I hope for you to feel great about whatever you do.

    Lunch?

I had VGS 1/11/17. I tend to cook dinner and bring leftovers to work for lunch. I don't always feel like cooking. Looking for ideas; what do you bring to work for lunch?

Thanks, hard boiled eggs are a great idea.

    Advice Needed

I make my own refried beans- a favorite of mine since long before surgery. I put them on a carb balance tortilla that has I think 3-4g protein, as well as fat free sour cream, and cheese. Delicious, lots of protein. Good bang for your buck.

    Back To Smoking

Any update? I'm really sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, I'm a smoker. It didn't prevent me from having surgery. I hope things worked out for you, I have no idea how old this thread is.

    Back To Smoking

I guess losing weight wasn't too important for you when you were told too, huh? You just had to keep on eating until you were so fat you needed surgery. If only you listened. Tsk tsk. How could you, in good conscience, say that to someone? Because that's exactly what you said. I have no idea what you're doing in an addiction forum if you are more interested in shaming than support.

  10. I took all doses of all prescribed meds; I was to crush them for a few weeks post-op (if any of your meds aren't meant to be crushed, talk to prescribing Doc about an alternative). Crushing is super annoying, and don't mix it with jello, it makes it way worse, just toss it back like it's a whole pill. Drives my husband nuts, but I ended up getting used to chewing a lot of my meds. It's either not as disgusting as it sounds, or I adapted to the tastes in a bizarrely easy way.

    Weight stall

Same here. I had to stop weighing myself so much. Gave my body a chance to lose weight in private, without me looking over its shoulder all the time [emoji16] Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  12. Hi- I had mine on 1/11 and also recovered quickly and smoothly. I was surprised by how hungry I felt; it seems like a key piece of info I wasn't informed of or anticipating. I heard endless stories of, "oh I couldn't imagine eating two bites of jello, I had no appetite!" This was not my experience. Here's the good news: it goes away. As you're able to introduce actual food, you will finally feel satisfied. Rather, I did, I don't want to assume. During the early liquid stages I found the Campbell's healthy tomato soup mixed with skim milk was savory and had a thickness I found filling. Good luck to you- this stage is temporary!
