    Drain tube post sleeve

I was sleeved on 2/6/17 and had my drain tube for 8 days post op. It was far and away the worst part of the entire procedure for me. Every movement hurt when it was in. As soon as my surgeon pulled that sucker out I felt like a different person. Just tough it out a couple more days and then you'll feel like a million bucks. Good luck!

    Am I losing too quickly?

I had my month post op appointment last Wednesday but technically it had been 5 weeks and 2 days. In those 37 days I lost 55lbs which my nut and dr said was fantastic, although they wanted me to increase my caloric intake to 1200-1400 a day. Im a big guy at 6'3" and my starting weight was 347. It's hard to believe I'm already down under 290. I had some of the same concerns as you but I feel so good I'm trying not to worry. I easily get my protein in every day, the 64 oz of water is harder to pull off haha. I was just cleared to start lifting so I'm really looking forward to getting back in the weight room. Hopefully this isn't something to concern ourselves with. Keep up the good work!

    Work

I have a pretty laborious job, lot of moving. I went back after 2 weeks, but my surgeon said a lot of people can go back after a week depending on what they do. I think it's really all up to how you are personally feeling, not really a set number of days. You won't have a lot of energy but the more you are up moving and walking the better you will feel post op.

    Vivid dreams?

I was sleeved on 2/6 and the day before yesterday I had my first food dream about Pizza Hut pizza. I knew in my dream I couldn't eat it so I just ate all the toppings(still bad). I woke up so hungry, hoping it doesn't become a trend haha. Also, I don't like to watch people eat but anytime my wife makes something I have to smell it, like vigorously haha. She's had about enough of it. Good luck with the dreams!

    Drain Tube

I was sleeved on 2/6. My surgeon informed me ahead of time that I would have a JP Drain, I think it's pretty much their preference on wether you will have one or not. Mine was in for a total of 8 days, removed on my 1 week post-op visit (2/14). At first it wasn't too bad but after about 3 or 4 days it became incredibly painful. Basically it's a tube just sticking out of your abdomen and your body pretty much decides that it shouldn't be there and starts to fight it. My drain site became very red and infected looking but after talking with my surgeons nurse was told it's normal. This was by far the worst part of my surgery, not only was it disgusting but the pain radiated from the site towards the end. However, as soon as he removed it there was instantaneous relief, it felt so good not having it jutting out of my side haha. From what I've read everybody has different experiences with these things so maybe if you have one it won't be nearly as bad. Good luck!
  6. Hey all. Sleeved on 2/6. So far so good, was down 28 pounds at my 1 week follow up. Was thankful to get my JP Drain out, by far the worst part of the surgery. Started work today, pretty low energy but other than that no complaints. Been pretty much living on protein shakes, can't wait to start the puréed diet on 2/23. SW 347 CW 308
