Down 52 pounds, probably don't want to lose much more. Still feeling the restriction on  meat and bread but not so much on slider foods. Been on a business trip for the last week and ate more than I have in 6 months and even foods that I rarely eat (slider foods). Expected to come back 5 pounds up but didn't gain at all. I was stunned. Although I was walking a lot more than my usual daily desk habits. Going back to my healthy eating today. No complaints. Life is so much more comfortable in this body than my body from August 2016 when I had my surgery.

HF are you doing a liquid diet with Protein? If so I think you'll probably get close to that 50. I think your surgeon is just seeing if you're committed and capable to doing the changes that it takes to make this work. The surgery truly is just a tool. We have to do the work. That being said if you get close do not hesitate to tell the surgeon you did your best to hit the goal that was set for you and you'd like to go forward with the surgery. If he's doing GBP with the robotic route he needs that liver to be as light as possible. Either way just ask your surgeon. There's no magic way with them. Doing the work and honesty will work in your favor. He'll know if you truly did the work. That being said I'm an RN and worked many years with surgeons and still do. They put their pants on the same way we do...don't feel intimidated. I think you'll do great! You're already off to a great start! .

Don't be discouraged about those numbers, 20 pounds in 24 days is very good! But if you haven't been walking already, definitely get into it! It helps with gas, pain, and your metabolism.

I agree, I lost 50 pounds before my surgery and I used two Meal Replacements and had dinner at night which was usually salad or grilled chicken and veggies. I also exercised as often as I could.

Are you on medication for the hypothyroidism? Does your surgeon have a nutritionist that can help you? My personal recommendation would be a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and a healthy dinner. (lean Protein and veggies) Good luck.

on days you workout you should plan to up your calorie intake. And days you don't, eat the calories you need to maintain or need a slight loss (if you still need to lose weight) your calorie intake now isn't meant for long term unless you're 4'2 and 80lbs. Check out these calculators:

Don't stress this .. it's a journey ... and you have a lot to learn this early in your journey and that's ok!! I did a lot more than that. One day, I was eating grits and someone came in my office and started talking and I totally forgot and started scarfing them down! 15 minutes later I thought I was going to suffocate and threw it all up. I was thinking "what the heck was I thinking!" ... but no biggie, I just wasn't thinking for a minute, but I learned my lesson ... for the most part. Off and on during this journey, I'll eat a little too fast and feel awful. It's training me to slow down and to stop a little before I think I'm full. You got this! Hang in there!

I wear a Veronique. They are expensive but worth the money. I got my first one when I had a Tummy Tuck. It had zippers on each side which help getting it on and they have open bottoms so you don't have to pull them down to go to the bathroom. Now I wear the ones with out zippers. If my husband is around he helps me pull it up. I feel so mush better and have more energy I never go without it on except sleeping. Make sure not to get it to small.

Thank you. I just got off the phone with my surgeons on call nurse and he gave me some instructions, hopefully my stomach will ease a little and nausea symptoms go away.

I'm sorry to hear she has to leave so soon. At some point, hard choices have to be made, and one is to stay away from the hospital at night. The hospital staff needs to figure out how to care for your Mom so you can rest.

I almost had a nervous breakdown caring for a family member in the hospital around the clock for a few weeks. And I was healthy!

If you don't take care of yourself, there will be nothing left of you to help her. Like in a plane going down, put your oxygen mask on first before helping others.

I'm sorry you are in this position. It will all work out in the end. [Hugs]

There are a lot of people that post these great loses on forums but they don't post how they are getting them.
There is a poster, that used to post here, I haven't seen her in while. Yeah she lost a ton of weight in very beginning but she did because she was not getting any Protein in. She was living off like Water and gatorade. She was posting all the time how she was starving. Then 6 months later she was posting about her great loses and her new life, she she left out the part where she didn't have any nutrition the first 6 weeks. People that were new were patting her on the back and congratulating her on her great loss, not knowing how she got there.
Follow your program and you will lose. You are not going to lose as fast as you did, when you were 400 lbs. I lost my first 100 lbs very fast. That last 100 is much slower but still fast compared to people who have not had surgery. This is a life long thing. Not a sprint. Keep your eyes on the long term goals, which is good health, not just dropping weight as fast as possible.

You should definitely not be disappointed. At all. You frickin' lost 10 pounds! What's to be disappointed about? I lost 12 pounds on my pre-op 2 week diet and I was thrilled! What did you expect to lose???? Don't compare yourself to others, that is a mistake.
Your body is different. Everyone is different. You will go through times after the surgery where you won't lose anything! One week you will lose, the next week.... or maybe weeks.... you won't lose!
Don't be so hard on yourself.

I'm vegetarian and dairy free, and I'm looking to get sleeved this summer. I have a friend who's been vegetarian for her whole life and was sleeved 4 years ago, she's healthy as a horse and has kept off 130lbs. It's definitely possible, so do your research and good luck!

Also, I sympathise about the whole "easy way out" perception. I'm 100 pounds overweight, but my friends say I'm "not that big" and I have to defend my decision with the myriad of health benefits it offers. Don't let other people's perceptions keep you from doing what you think is best, but data can help quiet them down.
