About Me

I've always been taller and larger than my peers but the tide didn't start turning to outright obesity until I hit puberty at 13. Enter 16 years of crying, dieting, working out, hiding out, secret binge eating, personal trainers, Curves, Weight Watchers etc. until December 2016. I went to a bariatric surgery information session to support a friend of mine with absolutely no intention of any of the information being useful to me. Why I thought that remains a mystery. I decided then that I was done with the ups and downs and never getting anywhere close to my goals.

I'm in the pre-surgery stage, done with my first nutrition visit, first surgeon visit, psych eval, and gallbladder ultrasound. I'm waiting to complete my additional nutrition visits, education classes required by my surgeon, sleep study, endoscopy, and other such medical appointments before anything is submitted to insurance.

Based on my insurance requirements, nothing will be submitted until April so I have time to decide if I will go with VSG like I want or DS like my surgeon suggested.

I think my final decision will be based on how much I can lose on my own in this last push before I go under the knife.
