    Cigna

I have Cigna as well, called them and was told I would have to wait up to 30 days as well. However my paperwork was submitted on 4/27/17 and I was approved on 5/3/17. I that think as long as your plan covers the procedure and the ducks were in a row when your surgeon's office submitted, your decision should be quick. 2. I am trying to determine which surgery would be the best for me specifically in terms of recovery, long term success and weight regain. Does anyone have any thoughts about the traditional DS with a longer common channel? I guess I'm the most concerned about malabsorption and its long term effects. I'm only 29 and I plan on having children one day so it's certainly something I worry about.

    Frustration!

Glad to know there is someone else out thee dealing with the same message. Thanks for the response and I hope your approval comes quickly!

    Frustration!

I am so annoyed by this process! As a person who has never in life been sickly, had surgery, been admitted to a hospital, this process is beyond my comprehension. Not only am I dealing with a myriad of doctor's offices and appointments, the medical bills are overwhelming. I knew the process wouldn't be cheap but I'm just thoroughly pissed off at all of it right now at a point where I'm nowhere near completion of any requirements to even submit to insurance to have surgery...

    Frustration!

My roommate is going through the process right now as we but her situation is different and less involved but she's definitely a source of support. Thank you for your response and kind words! You're definitely right...I'm just in an angry place I guess. Thanks for the reminder!

    No one understands!

Hi Angela, My name is Victoria living in NC and I can completely relate. I STILL struggle with the anxiety of being the biggest person in the room. I completely agree with Chrissy that this process of becoming healthier is an opportunity to work on YOU. Since I went to my first nutrition seminar on 12/28/16, I've been wholly focused on bettering me, for me. The residual positive effects of that have been great but my focus remains myself. If you ever need a shoulder to cry on, vent to or to congratulate you, I offer myself!

Anyone kept their procedure a secret?

I've told my parents, boyfriend, three close friends and my boss and that was simply because I need time off of work. I'm a pretty private person and I prefer to only give notice to the people I care about (and that those that can affect my livelihood lol). In the future, post surgery and in the midst of weight loss, I have no idea whether I'll be 100% truthful and reveal that I had surgery or mostly truthful and say I worked very hard.
  8. Well I just worked out so hard I threw up. Go me lol

    Common Channel Traditional DS

Generally, insurance will use your first visit weight or, if there is documentation, your highest weight. They do not go by your weight at the time of submission for insurance approval. Thanks for the info! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Common Channel Traditional DS

My choice has always been the sleeve. I only began considering the DS after speaking with my surgeon. I agree it's an incredibly aggressive surgery and I'm certainly concerned about being malnourished in the future. Honestly, things are up in the air until it comes to submit to insurance which won't be until late April. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Common Channel Traditional DS

What is your BMI? That will help focus the discussion.... Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App My BMI is 51.2. I just found out my insurance doesn't even cover the DS if your BMI is under 50 and since I'm losing weight now, it seems as if the choice will be made for me..
