blackrosevamp got a reaction from tanyamann32 in Being put on hold
So I finally finished all my pre op and got insurance approval and was about to pick a date for the end of April. Then I ended up in the hospital for blood clots in my arm, and learned I have an abnormal issue where my first rib is cutting off blood flow to my arm. I've had three procedures now to remove the blood clots and have one more surgery scheduled to remove my first rib. I'm happy that my condition can be fixed, but frustrated that my wls has to be put on hold for 3 to 4 months while I'm on blood thinners after I finally finished my pre op and mentally was prepared to have my wls this month. Hopefully I can stay on track and keep lossing on my own. I've lost a decent amount just by seeing the nutrionalist and exercising more. But I feel like I won't be able to keep up with these good habits I've developed because of my inability to work out and the long hospital stays I've had.
    Highest weight: 293
    Current: 260

I went out with a girlfriend tonight and actually wanted to look pretty. The amazing part is I wore heels all night long and didn't have to take them off ten minutes later. Being 2 months out and seeing this change is amazing. My confidence is way up lately and I am so happy about my outcome. I wouldn't change my decision for anything in the world. Best tool ever.

Good luck on your psych eval today.
At your stage pre-surgery, I would recommend you do three things.
    1. Take a good before photograph of yourself, so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not really see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success.
    2. Walk 30 minutes each day, every day until surgery (or equivalent exercise). Walking helps the recovery process go smoothly and minimized the pain levels from surgery.
    3. Wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery.

I can't stand bars. I do a chia seed pudding with chocolate premier Protein. It is 3tbs chia seeds one chocolate Premier Protein and 2 tablespoons of low fat sugar free pudding mix . Combine, stir and refrigerate. It makes 2 servings and each has 21 grams of protein...so if you had 2 - day you are getting 42 grams in.
It can be made without the pudding mix because the chia seeds firm up and a vegan Protein powder and almond milk could work.

I strived to go total vegan after my RNY but it took awhile to do it because of outside influences. I'm now thankfully a complete vegan. My PCP does my blood work every 6 months and I do my own injections of B12 once a month. Just so everyone knows, I feel great about it.

Yup. Same thing happened to me and I am so thankful! I had severe gerd and my bypass cured it among many other health issues.
