Maybe he couldn't think of anything better to get you or found himself in a last minute rut. For food centered holidays like Valentine's Day and very soon Easter (if celebrated), I'd make him a list of very much treasured food products like Torani syrups, your favorite Protein powder, your favorite Water Enhancer, etc. Tell him you know that he loves you and would like to get you some sweet treats during these holidays, but you'd hate to have to get rid of another box of chocolates because you can't have them. Make this the last time you spell it out for him unless in the future he wants an updated list or can't remember the name of one of your specialty products, which shows he's at least trying.
Just remember that a person who's not able to understand your lifestyle needs regardless of what it applies to (health, job, religious, etc), should not be somebody you allow in your everyday life, never mind on a more personal level.
These are just my opinions. Take em' or leave em', just know that you'll have my support no matter what

This really isn't a recipe but it was good, thought I would share specially for those on full liquids.
Campbell's as a Thai Tomato coconut bisque but it's a little fattening but I love Thai flavors and really wanted to try it so I bought a regular tomato Soup and cut down the Thai one by mixing about 50/50 with reg tomato and it was really delicious filled with plenty of the good Thai flavor and cut down the cals and fat.
Also Target carries an organic roasted red pepper Tomato Soup that only has 110 cals and 2 grams of fat and is also crazy good!

I made some homemade sugar free popsicles today that are actually really good.
I got the cheapo popsicle molds from WinCo (grocery store for those not in the USA) and some sugar free Jello. I made the jello a bit stronger than the directions called for. (3 cups total instead of 4), filled the molds with it and froze them.
They turned out great. They're soft, like sorbet, and still only 12 calories per bar.

Well, here in the caffeine-free land 'No Carbville', during February vacation which always allows for peace and harmony from the kids, it's whatever damn day I say it is! ?
Had you not pointed that out to me, I would have looked like such a dink in front of my doctor ?. Though I'm not sure how reassuring it is to look like a dink to thousands on here either. Either way, I appreciate the heads up and the chuckle!!
When I spoke with the woman booking the surgery today, she just kept referencing Monday, not next Monday. So without looking at a calendar, I just assumed she meant (this) Monday. I'm a hot mess ????

*I did find the March group, btw. I think I'll go back and make sure it's March 2017!

I started this process with mixed emotions, mostly feeling blah, but now I'm excited!! I just can't believe this is all happing.

So now I need to find the post that said March surgeries. Any direct links would be great in the event I can't find it. I think I read somewhere that they have Facebook groups as well? Let me know what you guys know!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!

You are very welcome!! I absolutely LOVE pizza and this definitely satisfies that need 100%. It truly is a pizza lovers saving grace! If you're familiar with making your own pizza and like a special blend of seasonings added to your sauce (I always add a little extra garlic and oregano) than don't forget to do so or any other tweaks! This recipe is really for the crust. =) =) =)
While I'm still pre-op, I've been trying out a lot of different healthy recipes for things I can't live without (pizza, Asian, Italian) post-op.
Nobody should live without pizza LOL!

I found a better way and MUCH less expensive way...make your own. Google chicken crust pizza. Basically take ground chicken, season, flatten onto 6" pizza round or pan, pre bake, then add your toppings!

My wife tried it this weekend to get used to this type of cooking, she used fat free bacon and ranch dressing (low cal & sugar, no carbs), grilled chicken, garlic and bacon bits, then low fat mozzarella cheese. She couldn't stop raving! Gonna try marinara, mushroom, onion, spinach and mozzarella next time.

I think I'll start a posting for recipe ideas!

@sleevinpopsthat sounds awesome! I definitely will google "chicken crust pizza" and try making it on my own before spending money on the pre-made pizzas I mentioned.

I tried making this chicken crust pizza: http://www.bariatriceating.com/2015/08/more-bariatric-chicken-crust-pizza/ I left out the pepper and basil. It wasn't too bad. Definitely bake until the "crust" has been browned or it'll have a weird rubbery consistency. The rubbery consistency doesn't taste bad, but it's not pizza crust. If it's truly baked long enough and browned, you absolutely WILL NOT know the difference!!!!!!!!!!!!! The recipe I linked makes a very large pizza, so it's perfect for freezing slices! Below are my personal nutritional stats for a plain cheese pizza using Hunts No Sugar Added Sauce and Part Skim Mozzarella as 2 of the ingredients that may be different person-to-person. Of course you could add all kinds of toppings, but the values may change. Anyway, here are mine.

For 1 pizza cut into 6 even slices

    One slice= 171 calories, 2 carbs, 22 Protein

*Again, bake that crust until it lightly browns and "crusts". You can also toast leftovers in a toaster oven.*

    So freaking good!

If somebody starts a recipe post, please let me know!!!!!! I'd love to share and receive some awesome recipes!

    It is okay!
This is a lifestyle change forever. It's not going to be easy and I believe in order for it to stick, we have to gradually change. I think if I could have lost weight alone, I wouldn't need this surgery in the first place. So I'm weak. But this surgery will make me stronger. So don't beat yourself up for falling. Just get back up and keep your eyes on the prize

Last week was absolutely awful, but this week is so amazing. I had no idea how I was going to stop the cravings and control myself, but I went through the sugar withdrawals and I'm on the other side. I feel like I have more energy, I'm happier, I'm more alert and less foggy headed. I feel great. Tell me, do I feel like this after bypass too?

Can you share a bit more about how they are not supporting? I know you said they are try to force you to eat things you shouldn't (that's your decision ultimately) , but what is their reasoning? They just may be worried more about risks than rewards.

When I first started my journey, none of my mamilla, friends even co workers were happy about it. They all gave the reason, "it's too drastic, it's too dangerous, you can do it by exercising more and just don't eat so much ( brilliant! Like I never thought or tried that.

I'm gonna be 50 soon, have struggled for years with my weight, lose 10 gain 15-20. High blood pressure, cholesterol, smoker, Apnia and diabetes. So I started to rebuke their claims by pointing out if I didn't do something I would probably be dead in a few years anyway, this was not an easy decision but it was mine to make not theirs.

Over the past year, going through the process, I am now smoke free, and 50 lbs. already, told I will probably be off my cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin later this year, as well as the CPP! It was not overnight, and through the process they saw my commitment to the lifestyle change for the better and slowly turned their negativity to now being my biggest supporters.

Don't feel bad about giving it away. And was probably thinking the way he always has when it comes to getting a Valentine's Day gift for a loved one. It's an innocent mistake that I wouldn't hold against anyone.
Why are you feeling guilty about giving it away?? You are making a healthy choice by not eating it or keeping it. Some day when you are having a shitty day, you will get up and open it if you keep it around the house. If not, looking at it twice a week will just remind you of how you can't have it and then make you feel guilty the way you feel right now.

I bought 10 piece chicken wings the other day because I hadn't eaten the entire day and I was starving. I could have had something else but the smell of it was way too overwhelming. As soon as I finished the second piece, I regretted that decision. I was driving and saw one of those homeless guys that walk between the lanes, asking for change. I gave him the entire bag of chicken wings. It felt so good to get rid of that stuff from my car. I have noticed this about myself these days. Whenever I buy unhealthy stuff or end up with pasties/sweets, I hand it over to the next person beside me. I want that stuff out of my reach.

NEVER EVER EVER go to the Grocery store when you are 3 days in to your pre-op liquid diet. My preparation left a lot to be desired. I decided that starting my liquid phase 4 days early was a Great idea lol. They almost had to mop up the drool on aisle 9. I wasn't even obsessing over any of the wrong foods but those Rotisserie Chickens were calling my name laying there looking all Sexy. I am Thankful to say that I survived and left the Store felling like Conan The Barbarian all Rough, Tough and Victorious.

Goal weight is an artificial number. I think my surgeon told me that I could reach 190 pounds. I was happy with that. But in the end I dropped almost down to 140.
As far as a goal, I would shoot for the high side of normal BMI. Normal BMI 18.5-24.9. So for your height of 5 foot 1 inch that would correspond to a goal weight of around 130 pounds. The reason why I would select that as a goal is because individuals on the high side of normal live the longest. It is important to keep a little fat in your body because when you have a very, very serious illness or accident, you need that reservoir of fat to keep you alive until your body recovers.
The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.
