  1. The grocery and drive thrus are easy for me... how can I stop my house mates from bringing the stuff home, and the kids begging for it?!
  2. Bread, for you, might be a slider food. That means you can eat more of it than you would think. It just sliiiddees down without feeling the restriction.
  3. You are going to have to sit down and plan out 3 meals and 1 snack at very specific times. For example, eat at 8, 12, and 6, with a snack at 3. Stay away from food at other times, but keep drinking your sugar free beverages. If you are eating every 2 hours, you have no time to drink! (Think about it.. 30 minutes before, plus 30 minutes for the meal, plus 1 hour after with no liquids). You are doing what is called "eating around your sleeve" eating more frequently and not waiting to drink... I'll bet you aren't getting 64oz of water either If you are truly uncomfortable, you may have too much acid, or some inflamation. Talk to your doc and nut. You can do this!
  4. Cost is the biggest factor. The reputable surgeons have a system in place that makes travelers feel comfortable.
  5. Baby spoons, and put the spoon down between bites. It should take 20-30 minutes to eat 3oz, so you can imagine how slow that has to be!
  6. Some people choose to chew it after they heal. As always, it is best to follow your surgeon's protocol on this. Dr.s usually don't like it because if it were to be swallowed by accident, could result in a blockage. Also, the act of chewing gets the stomach ready to receive food.... creating acid, hunger, etc. Personally I don't chew much now, so won't miss it.
  7. I'm thinking of going to Mexico too At least you can watch him on youtube
  8. Oh, and if you get crazy dizzy, go to the ER since you are dehydrated.
  9. A good surgeon to look at is Matthew Weiner. He is in Michigan, and has a bunch of youtube videos. If any surgeon is gonna be pro-vegan, it would probably be him. And if he isn't, then it is worthwhile to find out why. Good luck!
  10. To go along with the baby stomach theme, don't forget your baby utensils! Tiny bites, and wait a bit between. Measure your food since your stomach nerves may not be up to the task of alerting when full.
  11. Ok, I'm glad you are keeping some down. Did you try gasX? Able to walk? Try some different body positions to try and move the gas around so it can escape. I'm sure the doc will have more suggestions..
  12. 4 days, keeping how much down a day would you say?
  13. Absolutely! Anyone that can't consume at least 40oz/a day of liquids should contact their surgeon. Has it been this way from the start, or did it get worse?
  14. I saw somebody else had this happen. Their doctor had to write a note making the change. I think it worked out ok if I remember correctly.
  15. The only time I've worn regular sizes, I got down to a 10, back in 2000. The thing is, I watched a youtube video of a bariatric patient that weighed 15lbs more than I did, and was 5 inches shorter than me, and she was modeling size 8 jeans. I wondered about it enough that I did some research. I learned the sizes have changed in the last 17 years! My size 10 is now a size 8. My MIL wore size 12 in the 60s, and now she would be a size 0! (At least this makes sense how I could wear a "smaller" size, but weighed 40lbs more!) To me, the perfect size was always 8 or 10, but now I guess it would have to be 6 or 8 to be considered medium. Is this what others are finding? It also means there are more sizes to filter through until goal, which means more shopping! (Good or bad, depending on budget!).
  16. If you have insurance that would cover an ER visit, go ahead there. If you don't, then maybe find a clinic?
  17. Ok, I don't know if he is still active, but his handle is@NoMoreFatGuy
  18. Ok, just ignore what I said , I didn't realize they were taking it all out. [Opened mouth, inserted foot]. I really meant worst by meaning the most stomach to be removed, not worst from a health standpoint! Someone else on this board had the same procedure, and was happy with the result, because once it healed, there were no more ulcers! [Hugs] .. didn't mean to sound like your procedure was gonna be bad!
  19. You will be a-ok! Even if they had to take out the whole stomach (which they won't...I'm just worse case scenario-ing)... you'd be fine. No worries! Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. First off, congrats on the weight loss! Second, what are your stats... male or female, how tall? We have to remember that the surgery doesn't always get people down to a "normal" bmi. It frequently just gets them to the top end of overweight. Any additional work is for YOU to do! Food journaling, high protein, low carb, water, vitamins, exercise. These will continue helping you. If you eat too much, you will gain. If you eat too little, you will plateau. It's a balancing act. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I came across some statistics. People that get the sleeve and didn't have GERD prior to surgery.. 9% will develop GERD because of the surgery. 16% of people that have acid going into surgery had it resolve! But, acid is a concern, and one of the reasons I'm considering getting a RYN bypass to begin with. Or I'll get the sleeve, and have a 9% chance of needing a revision. 22. Sounds great! How did you choose between Dr. Ponce and Dr. Illan? Why the mini instead of the RNY?
  23. Some people get rid of their scale, and just use the one at their gym or what have you. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
