Day 6 Hungry
I absolutely think it is possible to have true hunger. My solution? I'm only 2 weeks out, but am consuming 1000+ cals. 3 cups of whole or 2% milk, 1 cup of drinkable yogurt, coconut water, protein powders, and even my vitamins have 75cals. I also drink 40oz of water. My skin feels great, I have plenty of energy, and I'm feeling healthy, not pinched and malnourished like I felt on the preop diet. And I am losing weight at an acceptable rate. I'm allowed to start purees, so am adding in cottage cheese and today I'm gonna try tuna. Once I'm getting calories and protein from food, things will shift again.

Digestion issues-2 years post op
I would go see a GI doc to rule out a physical cause. If that goes well, you may just need to take a break from those foods.

Dealing with being "the fat one"
At 300lbs I like to wear long compression leggings (men's Under Armor heat gear 2x), no underwear, with a long loose synthetic material top...( or another compression short sleeved top. ) I keep my regular bra on. I'm covered up, but the lightweight synthetic clothes allow for comfortable swimming and walking around out of the water. Dries pretty fast too. I have massive varicose veins below the knee.. that's why I wear long leggings. Another person could just wear the shorts.

4 days post op
Eating solid food this early is extremely dangerous! Probably be a good idea to let your surgeon know so they can advise. In the meantime, drink, drink, drink. Try to wash that stuff out of your stomach. Don't take big gulps though. Small sips, often.

Intake
It might be a good thing to go back to clear or full liquids for a day or two. That way you can drink all day without waiting. Also, try to make sure what you are drinking tastes good and is varied. I love coconut water. Homemade broth is good too...

Kinda OT: What do you guys think of Mama June's news headlines about her VGS & Body Lift?
Well, I don't go in much for sensationalism, but putting wls center stage might help more people that need the surgery become aware of it. June took a couple years to complete her transformation, which is realistic. Haven't seen the program, just read a couple articles.

Dr. Jalil illan frajio
I was just there a week ago! Wonderful!

How long of a wait?
I have Tricare Prime North. Would have been a minimum of 6 months, and more likely a year. Went to Mexico with Dr. Illan, and couldn't be happier. I am a military man's wife... not military myself. Those actually in the Army can NOT get the surgery, as they will be fired. I don't know about the other branches of service.

Big calves-anyone lose any calf weight/inches
It's weird how some have big calves and others have small ones, when everyone is overweight. I join the big calf group. I'm 16 days post op and have lost half an inch on each calf since surgery!

Can't break this stall...ideas?

Having concerns???
There are several different types of hernias. Obese people tend to get hiatal and abdominal wall hernias before surgery. Incisional hernias can happen because of the surgery, but are pretty rare. If you don't have a hernia going into surgery, you likely won't get one, and weight loss will help prevent from getting one in the future. Even thin people CAN get hernias... so there is no guarantee.

2 things: exercise and protein
There is no time like the present to begin exercising. A good goal is 3-5 miles a day of walking (can break it up). This is a goal, I don't mean you have to be able to do it now. Work up to it. I don't know how much protein you are getting now, but make sure it is at least 70g a day. Keep the carbs at or under 65g during weight loss. Good luck!

Mexico surgery
My original family doctor wasn't on board, so I found another. I made a big deal out of the plan to do the surgery in Mexico, to make sure they were willing to do the follow up. My new doctor has been fabulous (and was important because I needed some minor care right after getting back...prescription tweaking).

Is this normal?
I agree with Jesm. A cup of food is for maintenance. You are doing just fine at 1/2 cup (and from the sounds of it, you might want to do a couple spoonfuls less than that).

I have not seen a NUT since my surgery... help!
Stay on soft foods until you get clearance from your nut. Most don't start a regular diet until 8-9 weeks out. Bread is something I plan on staying away from until I am in maintenance. If you aren't losing as fast as desired, simple carbs like that need to go away. You likely should be eating 5 times a day.. 3oz of soft protein and 1-2 ounces of soft veggies each time. One meal could be a few ounces of cottage cheese and fruit. Good luck!

3.5 weeks post op - are these things normal?
I am three weeks out, and am generally doing super. Haven't started thick foods yet though. I feel clear headed and normal, but will say the wrong word several times a day. (Like "parking lot" instead of "book"). This never happened before surgery. Not sure what it means, but figure it will get better.

Mexico
I second everything mama just said. That was my experience to a "t" as well.

BariatricPal Team MX's New Exclusive Strategic Alliance with Oasis Hospital in Tijuana!
I just was at Oasis of Hope hospital. WONDERFUL experience! The Bariatric wing was perfect. Care was second to none. There are some older parts to the hospital, but it looked like renovations are getting started. There are 3 floors to the hospital. Upstairs is a wonderful cancer center. Downstairs is an Alzheimers unit. The hospital is located near the ocean. Maybe these facts explain the name The Valets are the best! The nurses actually let you sleep! They quickly and quietly come in during the night to put meds in the IV. Someone was coming into the room every couple hours around the clock to check on everything. My surgery went off perfectly so far! No gas pain, quick healing. Easy walking around. Beautiful garden outside to sit in the fresh air. The two days after the surgery were just as nice. Upscale hotel, extremely nice Valet that took everyone around all day. I went by myself, and wouldn't trade the experience for the world! Oh, and I got my first shower 48 hours after surgery... AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Plenty of water that was nice and gentle on the incisions.

Not crazy at all. Sounds like you are a prime candidate! Sleeve is a good choice.

Post-Op rash??
If it is only on your abdomen, it could be a reaction to the antiseptic they painted on.
-
Post-Op rash??
I did, and it was on my cheeks too. I was on an antibiotic that I was allergic to I think. A few days after stopping the antibiotic, the rash got better.

Sharp Pains by incision that are New!
I know this is late coming. Since the pain goes away while resting, it is probably not an emergency. Relax flat on your back and feel your abdomen gently. It shouldn't hurt with gentle pressure. If it does, there might be a problem. Sharp pains are often stitches getting pulled a bit.
