  1. Granted that I'm only 1 year post op on March 20th and I'm bypass, I talked to my nutritionist yesterday about this. How basically I have slim to none weight loss since December. She told me that I'll most likely keep loosing up to 18-24 months, it's just my body taking a break, and it might continue to do so for another month or two, but just to hang in there. I am at goal, but I would like to lose a little more fat that is stuck to my stomach and inner thighs. I'm at a fat percentage of 26% right now, which is well within normal range, I just want to be more lean. I have gone from 255 to 147.
  2. Several interesting articles were gathered and published here yesterday. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/currentissue Here are a few of them, the complete list is in the link above. Reimagining Obesity in 2018 - A JAMA Theme Issue on Obesity Long-term Outcomes Following Bariatric Surgery Counting Calories as an Approach to Achieve Weight Control Fitness or Fatness - Which Is More Important? 3. 2 weeks pre op diet - 12.4 1. - 9.7 2. - 4.4 3. - 5.7 4. - 4.4 5. - 4.2 6. - 2.6 7. - 0.4 8. - 5.7 9. - 4.9 10. - 1.8 That is my 2 weeks pre op and first 10 weeks post op. i'm now 36 weeks post op and have lost a total of 101lbs, starting at 255.
  4. There is a difference between your natural waist and what they use for the hip to waist ratio though. For that, it's 1cm above your naval.
  5. I would get my BMR and RMR tested. If you have been eating like this for the past 6 months and you haven't gained, it looks like you have found your maintenance lvl. If you are still loosing, you are below, if you are gaining, you are above. Adjust accordingly. I'm a 5ft 5inch female and my RMR, what I need to eat to maintain, is just over 2000kcal. (tested) There are no set maintenance lvl, it's all individual. If you are worried you are eating too much, get it tested.
  6. I usually do largest part of the arm, under breast, natural waist, 1cm above belly button (usually what they use for the waist to hip ratio), hips, largest part of the thigh, just above the knee and calf.
  7. If you have GERD, the sleeve should not be an option for you. Several people have had to convert their sleeve to a bypass because of GERD, so if you are already struggling, I would not consider the sleeve.
  8. @Berry78 you are amazing. I needed this today. I have had horrible eating pattern for the past 3 days. Already back on right path, but this has made me realize that I don't eat enough veggies. I'm so focused on getting enough protein in, and I'm getting like 120g from just food, and not getting over like 1200kcal, but I need more veggies. I have meal prepped since day one, and it has saved me, but I make the same stuff over and over. I need to venture out more.
  9. I'm not much help as I'm not even 8 months out, but take a look in the veterans forum. There should be people there who can help you out.
  10. Highest weight Surgery Weight Current weight
  11. Granted I'm bypass, I'll be 8 months since surgery on Monday and I'm suppose to eat 1400-1500 kcal a day, and I'm managing 1200-1500 with 120-140g of protein.
  12. So I started at 255 2 weeks before, surgery at 243, the day I came back to work after 2.5 week after surgery (could have come before, but my back made it so I couldn't walk without extreme pain so I needed a nerve blockage 10 days after surgery) at 226 and people could already tell on my face. No one knew about the surgery.
  13. I love the ones from Quest Nutrition especially these The code NAQ441 will give you $5 or $10 or 5% off, all depending. I also love a few from Oh Yeah Almond bliss is to die for.
  14. I love working with mostly men, they have very little to say about my body. Most of them have dared to comment once, in a very positive way, but other than that, they are men. I have gotten a few people who haven't recognized me until they recognized my dog first and looked at me twice, and they are just shocked. I have gotten a few "Don't get too skinny lately" though.
  15. I use 24h clock, and that's it. I guess they should reteach English teachers around the world then, because they teach AM/PM as I have described over. I have been thought English in 4 different countries, including the UK and USA.
  16. Well, must only be in Australia then, because everywhere where I have been where they use AM/PM it's used as posted in my previous post.
  17. Are you sure about that? I have never heard or seen it used that way https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock The 12-hour clock is a time convention in which the 24 hours of the day are divided into two periods: a.m. (from the Latin, ante meridiem, meaning before midday) and p.m. (post meridiem, meaning past midday). Each period consists of 12 hours numbered: 12 (acting as zero). The 24 hour/day cycle starts at 12 midnight (often indicated as 12 a.m.), runs through 12 noon (often indicated as 12 p.m.), and continues to the midnight at the end of the day. The 12-hour clock was developed over time from the mid-second millennium BC to the 16th century AD. The 12-hour time convention is common in several English-speaking nations and former British colonies, as well as a few other countries.
  18. I'm honestly surprised that you have cleared to run just a week after surgery. And now you are running and lifting on the same day. Most people are allowed to lift max 5kg for the first 3 weeks, and no running, just walking. The body is healing and should get as much energy as possible for that, not deplete it with exercise.
  19. Awesome job. You look AMAZING! I too has grown after surgery. I was 1.65, now I'm 1.66 or 1.67.
  20. I'm honestly surprised that doctors still put lap-bands in. Here in Austria they are working hard to get them all removed because they cause so much damage.
  21. Yeah, sadly I don't see it changing any time soon..... But at least I know it's not correct, and I'm so close to being under BMI 25 that it shouldn't be a problem. But it would be nice to have the correct number.
  22. It's ridiculous that they can't get it to show the most accurate measurement there is. I mean there is a difference in 165 and 166, as it is with you at 175 and 176. It gives us a higher BMI. It annoys me to no end. Hey support, how about fixing this.
  23. I'm trying to change my height, but it's not letting me. I'm 1cm taller than what it's set at.
  24. I love food, and I still love meal prep, because of the convenience during the week. I just go to my freezer or fridge, pick out 2-3 meals that I heat up during the day. I also of course eat breakfast (oats) and cook a fresh warm meal. I do have some staples that I use a lot, but I'm venturing out more and more. And I always try to figure out how to get the most amount of protein into my meal lol
  25. I so want to get back to running. I actually miss it, even though I hate running. I want to compete, do triathlons, half marathons, even 5k again, but my neurosurgeon has said no. I hope it's not a ban for life, but it's a ban for now. For now, I do Nordic walking. I have even done a half marathon Nordic walking competition, and it was so much fun.
