My NUT told us that plenty of the grease soaks into the meat and not to try and fool ourselves by peeling the breading off. No fried foods for me again. Ever.

Never again. I have accepted the fact that I just can't eat fried food. Fired food, pizza, Pasta, beer, etc., brought me the point of being dangerously obese in the first place. Not going back there!

Its the flour that makes this bad. If you peel off the coating the chicken is great but we all know just how addicting that crispy fried skin is. be careful going down that road.

Little Green got a reaction from snoozingcat in 5 days post-op & having an emotional day
I had absolutely awful depression from day 4-6 post-op. Being stuck without being able to drive made me feel so trapped and upset. I was also staying with my mom and although she was kind instead of insulting me (not cool, snoozingcat's mom!) it didn't help. I had my cats with me at her house but couldn't pick them up or really cuddle them because they wanted to stand on my belly which wasn't possible. It made me so sad to see them and want them but not be able to have them. I also missed my husband and my house and I just wanted out of there! I ended up going home a week ahead of schedule and I've been really happy with my decision. All of that to say, you are so not alone, and you are not acting like a third-grader. I do think it's normal to get depressed shortly after surgery, so do the best that you can until you can get home to snuggle with your baby!

And how far back did your rude comment set some posters, who may now be fearful that if what they post is not up to someone's standards they'll be mocked with sarcasm? Give me a break, you had no altruistic motives in what you said - you were just being an assh@le.

I only used my robe, chapstick, phone charger, and eye mask. I definitely would have needed my dry-mouth spray, but they let me use a sponge dipped in ice Water to wet my mouth.
I never changed out of my gown and was too drugged/sleepy to read my kindle. I brought a couple pairs of PJ's but never wore them. Just the dress I wore home was all I needed, clothes-wise. I also brought heating pads for gas pain but ended up not having any gas pain, woohoo!

Darlin',there are,no dumb or stupid questions,on here. If some thing is bothering you or giving you grief and we can help, we'll sure try. RickM is correct, almost every ,practice I know of has you on a clear liquid diet the day before, npo after midnight, even the benighted malintentioned souls I dealt with at program # 1, who didn't put their patients on a multiweek Protein Shake plan , they still did clear liquid the day before. I didn't pull out on them, they pulled out on me but that is a story you didn't ask to hear. My new and current one, what they ask I will do, no matter what. A few of the veterans day they wish they had done a bowel prep also. But by all logic, your food from 2 days prior should have completely or nearly completely moved out. Not even with a bypass will they be monkey-doodling with your lower bowel, so hand your worries up with your winter jacket and leave them home. Smile and know every little thing is going to be alright!😝

It's so funny that we are totally opposite. I had all the awful pain and none of the intestinal difficulties. Just goes to show that you can prepare yourself extensively but you have no idea what is going to happen when you wake up post-op!

Use what you have at home. You can,use juice cans , cans with motor oil unopened. Walk, ride your bike, jog in the neighborhood, help with houshold chores like swweping, pick up sticks and branches in the yard, mow the yard without the fancy riding, one. Improvise, you' I'm better about you and you'll keep the hardwon strength going.

Call your PCP and ask for a scrip for a nausea patch that goes behind your ear ASAP. sleep in the recliner or propped up, go ahead and take all the naps you need. Try some Protein Soups instead of sweet shakes, sip some ginger tea.
DO NOT take the load of crap from the surgeon's office, ask for the office manager if they keep this up, everyone has a boss. There is no reason to not get the care you need. I would show up and puke on their floor...

Had a pretty good day today and I felt much better than yesterday. I got up with my husband and made his lunch, etc. and that felt really nice. I started the quadrant plan to drink my Protein Shake and I was successful for the first quadrant, haha (although it took me 3 hours to convince myself to drink the whole 5.5oz). But then I ended up taking an epic nap from 12:30-5pm and that threw everything off. I had some delicious soupbroth (my word for taking a can of Soup and straining everything out, rather than actual broth like you cook with) around 7pm that likely had a few grams of Protein left in it - and now I am, as always, doing my make-up sips to try and get to the protein goal. However, I did REALLY well with hydrating today and I think that was key in my feeling better - plus the amazing nap!
Me & Lovenox aren't getting along right now. I have developed such a complex about doing the injections because of the pain on my left side and the epic square mile of bruising and tenderness on my right side (from the previous injections). I tried my thigh and it was okay, but the embarrassing truth is my belly is so f-ckin big I can barely see the fleshy parts of them, so I wasn't really comfortable. I'm having to listen to music and just sort of force myself to autopilot through while focusing on the lyrics, and even then I'm having trouble actually putting needle into skin. I have no fear of needles, shots, injections, etc. whatsoever (I have 12 body piercings and two tattoos, yearly flu vax, blood draws, etc. plus I took care of my husband for months after his accident including administering these exact same Lovenox injections lol) so this is not that. My mind is just rejecting the whole notion or something. I only have five left - two tomorrow, two Thursday, one Friday morning - before my post-op appointment Friday where I will, fingers crossed, be blessedly released from the obligation to do them.
So I've figured out that I can sleep quite well in the bed if I'm on my right side, but not my left. When I'm on my left, that is when I get the stinging fiery ouch pain. Usually I pick a side depending on which side of my nose is stopped up LOL! but I might have to default to my right side until things get better over there on the left.
The one real bariatric sin I am committing at the moment is that I'm not walking regularly. It's been either too hot or raining. The heat is a concern because of fainting, but I could walk in the rain if I really wanted to - I love being out on a trail with a light rain going. I resolve to do better, particularly after I'm cleared to drive and can go to the park or a trail nearby (or Planet Fitness if I really have to, lol).

I’ve eliminated all whey and only used Pea and Bone Broth Protein powders today. It appears the problem is solved! Why on Earth couldn’t my Surgeon’s office have suggested this days ago? I can’t possibly be the first patient to experience this!
I thank everyone for their help!!!

Feeling much better than this morning. I think I was definitely close to being dehydrated but I've been sipping all day, about 30 oz of Water and 12 oz of (extremely delicious) broth plus a Premier Protein, and resting with brief walks here and there. I'm still having increased pain in my belly - there's one area in particular that protests with extreme prejudice when I move certain ways (which I unfortunately cannot predict). It produces a very sharp, intense "seam ripping" sensation, like I'm stretching something that's been tied tightly. The pain doesn't directly correlate with an incision, but the surgeon explained that incisions are often done at angles or even stretched depending on the needs of the ones running the show, so I could have damage/bruising in muscles underneath my belly despite not being directly under an incision.
I had a LOT of this type of pain overnight because I tried sleeping in the bed on my side and it seemed like no matter what I did, I would constantly pull at this one spot and get the awful knife-like pain. So, that's why I've been taking it easy today. It's still sore but I think it's getting better. Honestly if it weren't for that one spot I don't think I'd have any belly pain at all. My incisions are a bit tender if I touch them and I'm bruised and beaten-looking (and worst of all, despite not having any pain when I administer my Lovenox injections, over the course of a few hours the sites bruise and get tender ) but mostly my belly is comfortable.
Mentally/emotionally I've been feeling pretty down, mostly from loneliness. My husband had to go back to our city so he can work, my mom works from home during the day so she's here but inaccessible. My parents' house is out in the boonies, I can't drive, so trying to convince people to come all the way out here to visit when they've got work and kids and activities is pretty futile. I'm very much a social butterfly and even just sitting around doing nothing is better if someone else is around. Maybe I'll find an adult daycare to put myself in for the next week or two
Sorry for the long updates - like I said, I'm very lonely! Just shouting into my own personal void over here.

Also, obviously, I'm not even attempting to use plant-based Protein sources at this point. When I get to pureed food I'll see how much protein I can tolerate in whole food form and then either continue supplementing with Premier Protein or start supplementing with 1-2 of the plant-based shakes.
