  1. I’m 3 years out and gained 22. Feels really shitty. Beating myself up because it’s my fault. At the start things were easy. I ate a teaspoon or three bites of whatever I wanted and could tolerate. I nibbled chips, half a cookie took 3 days to eat but I did. All this from month 3 after surgery. At year 1, I discovered I could eat pizza and bread again and that changed the whole situation. Now I look in the mirror and I’m back to self loathing. I know I “can” do a reset, go back to protein shakes and salads etc. But I can’t seem to get through the mental blocks. I feel afraid that it won’t work. Don’t know what I’m asking here. I just wanted to share in a space with other who had bag and struggled all their lives with weight issues.
  2. Thanks so much everyone. Really appreciate your compassion. Some good advice here and it’s good to hear that some have successfully got rid of the regain. I’m gonna increase my water this week, and do a shake for breakfast, track everything. Have to push past this in my head too.
  3. I’m glad I saw this post. I’m feeling really depressed over my weight gain. I’m 3 years out from surgery and up 20 lbs and 2 dress sizes. I keep obsessing about what people are thinking also, when I know I should not care.
  4. I’m year 3 in Dec. Gained 15 and struggling to let it go. I went back to gym workouts this week.
  5. Tips please! I’m trying to get back on land. I’ve gained. Doing some meal prep tomorrow to start.
  6. Thanks! Love this post. Some good advice you have here. Yes I know it but it’s helpful that someone else understands! I just need to handle the stress eating for another 7 months, then eat cake to celebrate the PhD. :-)
  7. Well..... I am feeling pretty bad today because I have been gaining and am now at 8 pounds above my goal and all of it is in my stomach and thighs. Stress eating due to the fact that I am in grad school and the work load is intense. Having time for myself is starting to be a luxury. Anyway, I am really looking for help/advice at this point!! I admit that I have not been following the rules and guidelines. Thinking about it, I don't think I have followed much at all. I lost 70 pounds in 10 months with no exercise, couldn't chew veggies enough to tolerate, eat chips and baked goods too many times and hydration is a problem. Thankfully, I have never been hospitalized for hydration or any complications since sleeve surgery. But today I am trying to research what to do to reset the sleeve and what to eat etc. Joined a gym and went twice already.
  8. How do I copy and save this? Great information!

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

I lost hair at month 5. Massive shedding! I bought hair clips and wear them all the time. I’m now at month 12 and hair is growing back (or I’m starting to notice it more now).

    Anyone not need plastic surgery?

I’m a year out this week and have some loose skin in my arms and boobs and thighs. I hate my arms, it’s always sagged and flapped. But now it’s worse. I’d like to get surgery for skin removal but don’t know how I’d pay for it. I’m happy with my surgery but not confident with how things look sometimes. I want to look great naked again!
  11. I agree with what the others have said. I’m one year out today and have zero regrets. I remember that feeling of uncertainty before surgery. It’s normal. My liquid diet pre surgery was only for 24 hrs so I can’t even imagine how your mental state is right now without eating. Guess what...after surgery you will also go through a little mourning period but then seeing the progress will make you feel better. Be kind to yourself! Especially now. You are worth whatever it takes to find the best version of you.

    why do people assume

I don’t know about the medical issues you might have so talk to your doc. A lot will change after surgery. This is not to be taken lightly but not everyone is gonna be supportive and you have to be ready for that. So I heard the same nonsense about the “easy way out”.... from other friends who struggle with weight and those who don’t. Most people do not dare, but I’ve had rude people point blank ask. If I feel like being nice I say, “I think you want to tell me that I look happy. I am! So much good going on in my life right now & I feel great. Thanks.” I was the kinda person who was always agreeable, answered every question people ask. Well now I don’t do anything if I don’t want to. That’s the boldness I’ve gained from this new journey and it’s huge. I’m still loveable but just have better boundaries and it’s noted. I believe some are jealous of the confidence and joy for life you gain from being free of the weight. You change and others don’t like it.
  14. This was the best decision I could’ve made and I’m happy! At 1st I thought I wasn’t losing fast enough, compared to others, but I hit goal weight at 10 months. I’ve had zero issues, eat well though I could do better. Vitamins everyday. Hydration is still a huge problem but so far I’ve not had complications. I didn’t drink much presleeve either. I’m gonna try a new strategy for this. Doing what works for me without total deprivation is key. This journey is different for everyone. I’m thankful to this online community for a space to ask questions, read about things I was too scared to ask, reassurance when I needed and generally affirmation for each step to health.

Happy #Sleeversary to Me! Year One.

Sorry to hear that other issues are surfacing. If they say you are in good enough condition to proceed just follow doctors orders 100% and listen to your body. Even when I felt fine at 5-6 months I didn’t try too many new foods at once. Take it one step at a time. Reach out if you need support too, because others in this forum may have similar stories.

Happy #Sleeversary to Me! Year One.

Tat1ana thank you! At my highest I was 216. Surgery day I was 214 and now I'm hovering at 140. I'm 5 feet tall and very petite with small bones. People around me keep saying "don't lose any more weight, you'll disappear" ....hate when they say that...esp. since they know nothing about the details or the surgery. I went to 138 for few weeks but my body seems to like 140. This was my goal weight anyway so I think I can hang out right here. I'm still curvy! My body is just a smaller version of what it looked like when I was overweight. My only regret if I have one, is that I lost all my boobs. I was 38DDD, now I'm 34C. The hair shedding was traumatic but my 'fro is still thick and the regrowth is now showing.

    Water, Water Everywhere...

I'm craving salt too, and I think it's dehydration. We have to do better! Ugh

    Water, Water Everywhere...

Ok. So this is gonna sound bad but I hardly drink. No water no nothing. This was a concern for me before surgery and scared me. But I tried popsicles and managed to not get sick or hospitalized. I'm now about to hit month 11, vitamins everyday, met goal weight few weeks ago. Still trying to get my liquids in. Today I think I had 20oz. I'm going for a doc appointment next week so will see what they say. I need help.

    Hair loss

Mine shed big time at month 5. I'm now at month 10. It stoped around month 7 and now I'm doing all sorts of homemade treatments to regrow. Vitamins on target but Water intake is a huge problem for me and I also think it didn't help my hair loss issues.

    Starbucks Egg bites

Yes they're awesome! Moist, tasty and filling. I had the all veggies one.

    Protein and Gas

I had similar problems early on so I switched to a GNC Isopure powder. The other powders were too thick. I mix this with a lactose free skim and have no issues.
  22. Awesome job! I know, sometimes I feel sad that my boobs aren't the center of attention anymore. But I feel great and can do so much more now. It's time for us to truly enjoy more life!
  23. Wow! Glad you are now ok! Thanks for sharing
