I know what you mean Mandi! I am sooooo ready to chew something, (other than my d vitamins!). Lucky for me today tho, my wife is making homemade chicken noodle Soup as our daughter is sick, so I will get some really good broth. Nutritionist tells me next Thursday I can begin to add yogurt! Woo pie!

Solids will be here soon, keep strong, we can do it![emoji109]

You need to forget about the carbonated beverages! Didn't your surgeon go through this with you? It expands your stomach and can do damage as well.

You've come this far, stay focused, you can get past the urges!

Hi all! I'm 9 days post sleeving and I am trying to make a concerted effort to get out walking every day, but I was wondering about how far/long I should be walking at this stage in the game. Today I walked about three quarters of a mile and started to feel a little tired. I hope that's not pathetic

My dear man. Please know that I only want the best for you and many of us here on this site so understand your struggles with the whole dating thing. Having said that...I do not think you are ready to date. This has nothing to do with your weight. It has to do with your vulnerability. Dating is not the for faint of heart. In order to date, you must put yourself out there and know that rejection is always lurking close by. You need to be able to know that if a date or a relationship goes sour, it's not just because you are/were fat, ugly, mean, dependent, clingy, blah blah blah. Get where I'm going with this?
You have to be tough and able to let things roll off your back. Trust me. I started dating more than two years ago and it was hard. Really hard. I just got really lucky in that I found a man who is perfect for me. And when I say lucky I mean it. We just happened to be available at the same time and I reached out to him on the dating site. It was as random as possible but we somehow found each other and the rest is history. Most people aren't that lucky and can't find their special someone no matter how great they are. I bet you are a great guy but women don't know it. My fella and I could have missed each other just as easily. Doesn't mean I'm not a great catch because I am. Just means the stars aligned with him and me. Unless you can feel that way, don't date yet. Get to a therapist and learn to love yourself first. Only then can you truly love another. Good luck and best to you. Please keep us posted on your journey.

I too have no issues telling anyone. I know that there may be some that will, and have had a negative viewpoint on it, however I remind that the path I have taken over the past 20 years which included multiple swings of weight loss but still resulted in higher BP, cholesterol, Apnia, back pain, low energy, early stage diabetes...I also share that this was/is not a quick fix but another tool for me to finally stay consistent and become a healthier individual.

Of course, they can agree to disagree but at the end of the day I have done what was in MY best interest & lovin it!

I don't know, but I tell EVERYONE about my surgery. I told family. Friends. Coworkers. I tell literal strangers on the street about my surgery, if weight loss or exercise comes up in conversation. I obviously am not ashamed of it, or my need for it, and I think it's really important to tell people about it so it's something heard about in regular conversation -- so that it becomes normalized, and not stigmatized.

I was planning on telling everyone when it got close to my surgery date but at the last second opted not to. Only my immediate family, work, and a few close friends knew that I was having it. My main reason is that Facebook is such a cesspool at times I didn't want to deal with the people that would say it's too risky, you don't really need it, blah blah blah. Towards the end I was second guessing myself a lot on whether I wanted to go through with the surgery, but I knew it was what was best for me. So maybe part of my backing out of telling people was because I was afraid they would talk me out of it.
I'm 3 weeks out and still haven't made any sort of formal announcement to people. This weekend I plan on saying something. Mainly because I'm down about 40 lbs since I've seen most people and I don't want people to think I'm sick or anything.
It probably comes down to the general ignorance of people. I get so tired of people that just say it takes will power and exercise. It's like somebody that doesn't understand what being an alcoholic is like and telling somebody "just stay out of bars and you'll be fine!" They don't understand the core of the problem in our battles with weight. Those types will never change. Maybe that's the real reason - I'd hate to know good friends or family are that ignorant...lol

I knew in a couple days, don't worry you will be ok either way. Good thing to catch now, it will make a HUGE difference for sleeping! Down the road after surgery you may no longer need it too. Good luck!

Can you share a bit more about how they are not supporting? I know you said they are try to force you to eat things you shouldn't (that's your decision ultimately) , but what is their reasoning? They just may be worried more about risks than rewards.

When I first started my journey, none of my mamilla, friends even co workers were happy about it. They all gave the reason, "it's too drastic, it's too dangerous, you can do it by exercising more and just don't eat so much ( brilliant! Like I never thought or tried that.

I'm gonna be 50 soon, have struggled for years with my weight, lose 10 gain 15-20. High blood pressure, cholesterol, smoker, Apnia and diabetes. So I started to rebuke their claims by pointing out if I didn't do something I would probably be dead in a few years anyway, this was not an easy decision but it was mine to make not theirs.

Over the past year, going through the process, I am now smoke free, and 50 lbs. already, told I will probably be off my cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin later this year, as well as the CPP! It was not overnight, and through the process they saw my commitment to the lifestyle change for the better and slowly turned their negativity to now being my biggest supporters.

I know what you mean possymoo, I have 2weeks to go as well on Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes only, but be strong we can do this! I've been freezing shakes, then blending them to make smoothies which has helped. I also checked with my nut today who is letting me add in some yogurt next Thursday? Check with yours to see if they have other ideas as well. Be strong, we got this!

I would just like to say I've received an abundant amount of support that I truly treasure. The pain has been quite unbearable at times especially the further away from the anastesia I get. Hopefully I'll get to go home today. But no matter what happens or joke I feel, I am so happy I got this surgery.

I began this process back in late August 2016. December 29th I got an approval from ins, and February 13th, I underwent surgery.
I'm still pretty sore, but looking forward to this journey. Haven't had any issues swallowing or felt dumping syndrome as of yet
