  1. Just got diagnosed with AFIB and the doctors are pushing Warfarin at the VA where I get treatment. Anybody out there that's been sleeved been put on Warfarin and what side effects did you have and what initial dosage? Any other meds available that people are on? I'm a little worried on any of the meds and I've got zero symptoms--no pains, nothing...
  2. Had gastric sleeve surgery 11-29-2016. Went from 398 lb, down to 210. I'm currently 250 and it was what I called "covid" pounds because of staying home and eating small meals but too frequently during the day. Has anyone else had these weight gain issues and how did you address it?

    Weight gain issues

    Appreciate the replies and encouragement!
  4. Thanks so much. I am getting a CT Scan and an echocardiogram next week and a pulmonary function test and then meeting with 3 cardiologists, so I'll have a better idea of what I need. My primary care physician(I'm a Veteran) had no info on sleeved patients and did not want to start me on anything until he consulted others.
  5. Had gastric sleeve surgery 4 years ago. I've just been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and doctors want to put me on Warfarin or similar blood thinners but they have no dats on how the stomach can absorb these drugs. Anyone have a similar experience and what was the outcome? Please help. Thanks!
  6. Sleeved on 11-29-2016. Surgery day weighed 396. Currently at 230, loss of 166 lb. I eat 3-4 times a day, 4-5 ounces at a time. Still have a Premier Protein drink you buy from Costco almost every morning. i can't stomach fruit because of the high sugar, fried foods, beef and chicken liver and any raw fish. Otherwise I'm OK.
  7. Has this happened to anyone? I was in total agony. First time I was sick since gastric sleeve done 11-29-2016. I've sworn off anything fried for the rest of my life! I didn't sleep and was up for 9 hours hurting and could not keep anything down. I was worried my pouch would break from the stress of vomiting. Anyone have similar experiences?
  8. I recently tried watermelon, and did it on 3 occasions. Each time, I thought I was going to get sick and had to lie in an easy chair for a couple of hours until the nausea subsided. lso, I got the same feeling from eating raw fish (sashimi) , but for the first time since sleeved 7 months ago, I was able to put down some Hawaiian poke tuna with no side effects. Anybody have similar food problems?
  9. I've only gotten this with watermelon so far. Cherries and oranges have been fine. I'm chewing well and eat slowly, usually 15-20 minutes per meal...
  10. You're doing fine! Go to a gardening center or a gym and pick up a 50lb bag or weights and start walking around and see how it feels. You will notice right away... I've done that and have lost over 100 lbs. and recently went to a friends house and gave his 120 lb sister a piggy back ride around their living room, I then realized what weight loss is all about! Good Luck!

Good luck Ruben and keep up the good work!
  12. Sleeved on 11-29-2016. Starting weight 396. Current weight 281. Total weight loss so far is 115 lb. Use a treadmill 5-6 times a week for 30-45 minutes per session. Lost some hair for the first 4 months, but after taking Biotin and Rogaine twice a day, hair is finally growing back. I can't do spicy, high fat foods or fried stuff anymore and can't tolerate any sashimi (raw fish) either. I still say this was a life-changing decision for me. I'm no longer diabetic and getting healthier daily. Waist size has been reduced by 18 inches. I've also gone from a 6X shirt to a loose 2X. Goal weight will be 200 lb. and should be there by year end. Loving this journey!
  13. I was wondering what people can no longer eat, or what seasonings they use that bother you after surgery> Personally I've been able to keep down just about everything food-wise. The only problems I've encountered have been some fatty pork loin at a Chinese restaurant, bur rhe barbecued red colored pork was fine. I used to be a huge sushi eater. While I have given up all rice, every time I have tried sashimi (raw fish with no rice), I have gotten a major belly ache but have never thrown up. This has happened with tuna, yellowtail and salmon so far. I can put down cooked eel and the imitation crab with no problems. I also have a problem with any onions that are not cooked. Same belly ache again. This also applies to chili powder, but surprisingly, I've been OK mixing horseradish with ketchup to make a cocktail sauce when I have boiled shrimp. Anybody else have any similar issues?
  14. I was sleeved 11-29-16 and have dropped 95 lb. Question to all: I'm always cold, and even more so after eating. Anyone out there have these symptoms? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Guys or Gals, have you had any hair loss after surgery and has it stopped after a period of time? I was sleeved 11-29-2016 and have noticed hair loss. If you have, what are you using to combat this and has it been successful in growing back? I'm a little worried and don't want to keep losing hair. I've started taking biotin and using Rogaine twice a day. Any pointers for me?

    Hair loss after surgery?

I've noticed more hair by the drain after showering. The thinning has been towards the back of my head where most males start to lose and get their bald spot. Also in the front I've noticed a general thinning out as well. Hoping this will stop soon!

    Salads and protein

I do similar. iI weigh out 3 ounces of protein, and about an ounce and a half of shredded lettuce. I use creamy balsamic dressing, low calorie, or oil and vinegar.

    Always cold after surgery?

Had my blood and urinalysis and it's all normal and great.
  21. Sleeved 11-29-2016. Weighed 396 checking in to the hospital. Currently at 301, loss of 95 lb. I've dropped 15 inches in my waist and shirt size has gone from 6x to 2x. Best decision I ever made[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any regrets?

I have no regrets at all. Was sleeved 11-29-2016 and have been blessed. I haven't gotten sick at all, just a few stomach aches when I ate too fast or tried spicy food. The only thing I can't seem to tolerate is sashimi. I've dropped 90 pounds, 12 inches in my waist and 4 shirt sizes. I'm off all diabetic medications and take one blood pressure pill and vitamins daily. God has been good to me and I have zero regrets on getting surgery. I hope to lose another 90 pounds by the end of the year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
