Hello evryone,       My name as you may already know is Christine. I will start with why I decided to get my lap band. I was married at the age of 19 and I was at the weight of 185. My marriage was all good and had two baby boys after three years. After my second son I went up to a size 26 and weighed 325lbs. I had problems during labor and I knew it was because of my weight. I hated to be overweight like everyone else. I had post partem depression and decided to take Phentermine prescribed by my dr two months after the bith. I lost about 25lbs and was ok with it. Then i stopped taking it and started gaining it back. Then in Jan. 07 my husband passed away in a terrible car accident and I got more depressed and was gaining more weight. I knew I had to do something about it because my sons only had me now. I wanted to be more involved in their sports and be able to play with them. Most of all I didnt want to one day wake up to hear the news that I was diabetic like my mom. That is what I am mostly afraid of. Since two of my mother's brother and sister died of renal disease caused by the diabetes. It was so sad.        One day I went to a businness seminar with a few friends and met a Dr named Gabriel Gutierrez. He went to talk about health and Nutrilite Vitamins. I didnt know he was a surgeon until after the meeting. So I asked him about the lap band and other options. He gave me his contact information. I didnt call him until one day I randomly checked my glucose and it was high. I was so terribly scared that I rushly looked for his card. I called him and talked for a long time and I made the decision to go ahead and get my lap band.     I arrived to San Diego where I was picked up and taken to Tijuana. I met Dr. G and talked about the procedure and risks. Then I was taken to get all my pretest done and check my vitals. I passed everything, Thank God. LOL. So the next day I went to the clinic where the procedure took place and I was very nervous. I wasnt thinking and regretting about being there. Then I told Dr G that I didnt want to continue with it and he stopped to talk to me again and made me feel comfortable and I was then out. lol.  I woke up and evertone there were very generous and helped me throughout my stay. I loved my experience there. I would definitely go back.   It's now been a few years and I know I havent gone down to my goal weight. That is because I am a stubborn patient. lol. I went down to 209 this year (2010), but I started having reflux and had to get a unfilled. I cant wait to go back and get my fill and start losing my wieght again. I do not regret getting my lap band, Even though I have my ups and downs (because I sometimes ignore my band) I will never take it out.   I wish everyone the best who decides to get one later in the future. Good Luck!
