Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
I didn't think of anything other than veggies, legumes, and fruit being complex. Is there some other kind? Never heard of junk science healthy carbs.

Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
I understand this is probably the most general rule for most, but not how my doc and nut prescribes when eating a meal. Two bites of protein then one bite of veggie/complex carb. They want more nutritional value then just protein in the body, if you end up getting full off of protein first. Given that you eat your veggies at a different time, is great. You're still getting it in. But for most, a meal consists of the protein/veggie/complex carb.

Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
My doc plan is 60g protein and 100g carbs. ?I'm with you, my body needs complex carbs. Actually all of our bodies need it, but each to his own.

Depression and regret after WLS
I'm no doc, but I do know it's a lot harder for people who have been overweight all their life than it is with someone who gained weight later on. I say this out of experience with my sister (having bypass) and with me (having sleeve). My sister being the overweight one since childhood. I also believe if you have a myriad of other problems, mentally, emotionally, etc before wls it is also a huge factor with those thoughts, issues afterwards. Me, having gained weight for a total of 8 years, I don't have mental issues, I have not regretted one iota of doing what I did. I'm happier too. I also have a very supporting family (exception of my sister-she's very negative) and most supporting husband. I was never suicidal before and don't ever intend to be. My sister gained all her weight back and even more. She's very suicidal, even now. Just waiting for a phone call. ? So, I say, if you have mind issues, seek therapy before and after wls, no matter how long you've been overweight. But if not, enjoy the ride and stay positive through it all. I choose to enjoy my ride. ? One other thing. I read somewhere many years ago about a study that was done with overweight people who lost weight. The ones overweight since childhood all had a VERY HARD time trying to conceive how they would look and feel being at a healthy weight. You can only imagine the mind games because of it. The ones who weren't overweight all their lives had a way easier time envisioning themselves back at a healthy weight. (Category I fall in). So, there are advantages to the lesser time, but both can be equally successful, just some have to work harder than others. Blessings to all on their journeys!!

Yes I agree, it's uncalled for, along with many other terms/names.

It is being used derogatorily. The original use of snowflake is: A snowflake was a person who was opposed to the abolition of slavery,” Brewster said. “They were called snowflakes because it said they valued white people over black people. But people today (who are so clueless to what it really means) use it this way: Lately the term has been used as a slang insult, often used in a derogatory way to suggest that people — often, but not always, young people — who take offense to anything from political policy changes to offensive comments are as weak and vulnerable as a speck of snow.

Waking up after surgery
Oh goodness me, I don't know. I was out then woke up...everything is fuzzy about how long, etc. I believe, unless you really put your mind to it to know how long after you wake up, you wouldn't even bother to know anyway. You'd just be trying to get comfortable.

Good morning y'all. So far so good with my mom. The young ER doc shouldn't be working. He wanted to give her a shot and send her home. Smh. Seriously! My mom told him no, that he will be following orders from her doctor. He had to comply and finally got her admitted in a room, almost 5 hours later. He wouldn't even let her eat or drink that whole time either. She also has diabetes. So my brother showed up with some food for her. Anyhow, they admitted, started her iv, and got the treatment going. Doc says it'll be a slow process, so she has to stay until Monday, at least. Thank you for your prayers y'all. I'm still very hopeful she'll be ok. It pains me to think that if she hadn't had the appt yesterday, she'd be dead this weekend. Not cool. Sorry @Apple1, I totally forgot to post a pic of my chili! I got it from pinterest. I followed the recipe exactly and it was really good. I had two friends and my brother over last night, they enjoyed it too. Husband and our friend ate two bowls of it. ? but here is the pic (looked exactly the same) and recipe. Throw everything in the crockpot, high for four hours, then low for a couple. Add more liquid if needed. But I didn't have to add anything. I also served with avocados and tortilla chips.

So far I have stuck to my plans today. But getting a little hungry. I'll drink water till I know for sure. Awful news....My mom is in the hospital with a very large blood clot in her lung. ? It's by the grace of a God that she had a cat scan today to see the progress of her chemo treatments that they found it. I'm anticipating that it gets treated and she comes out fine. We shall see.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Good morning everyone. I'm focusing on my meals today. Yesterday was a trial and error day. Today, I have a protein drink with two green bombs. Lunch, cubes turkey and ham and almonds. Dinner, sweet potato quinoa chili, that's in he crockpot right now. I'll have to maybe drink a protein water in between to make up for protein as well. I ordered vitamin patches last night. Hopefully they get here fast because I'm literally feeling nauseous just thinking about those giant chewable tablets ? I'm hoping to pass off the rest (2.5 months worth) to a friend who is having wls in 12 days. Hope you all have a blessed day. It's FRIDAY!!!! Yay! I'll check in later. ?

I'm on a ppi med too for six weeks. After that we'll see if it's an issue. I had it before the sleeve but it was only triggered by super spicy, acidic, and high fat foods. I suspect that when staying away from these, I should be fine post op too. But I also heard the ppi is good in he beginning to help prevent ulcers in he beginning healing phase. Hope you find relief @Sweet as peaches.

Wow!!! Good for you to walk it hon! I can understand being pooped on your way back. Just think, it's gonna get easier and easier. ? Are the comedies comedic? Which one is more funny than the other, British or Australian? I'd have to look in to them myself.

Dating in 2017, what is "dating" mean anyway? lol
Nothing wrong with looking either hon. Call me old fashioned, even though I'm only 38, but I think the best way to "date" is to get in groups and become friends, to eventually best friends. Now I didn't go that route, lol, but if I did it all over again, that's the route I'd take. .....and there is more than one fish in the sea too.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Today's eating was off. Wasn't hungry for the longest time. Had coffee, water. Finally ate 4 pistachios. Then I felt full??? Drank more water. I finally started getting hungry and had four pieces of cubed ham and turkey (not too bad) and one small bite of boiled egg (didn't sit well). That was nothing but I burped and that was it. By the time I left work, I grabbed a drinkable yogurt for the way home. Since, I had a total of six grain pretzels (more like cracker rolls?). These go down well, but I have to make sure I only eat them after I've had my protein. So, trial no error today, I'll only have them with a meal, not as a snack. And 1/2 muffin cup of ricotta bake (which I finally made). Almost sounds like I ate a lot, but it really wasn't anything. More like nibbles today. I'm going to focus on actual meals tomorrow. Hope everyone else is doing well!

@Apple1 I have heard of numbness there too. Wish I had that instead. But like I mentioned, the his is normal, so it'll go away eventually.

If it's God's will...
@kowgurl1988 Oh hon, hated having to read through the thread. There will always be someone who fights to contradict God's goodness. I don't know why he/she would argue about a being they don't believe is there. ???? It just doesn't make sense. But I do believe God will make the way for you. If you believe without a doubt, you are in His will, He's got his plans laid out for you already. Keep trusting in Him and I will trust that you will have an awesome testimony to share of how this all went too. ?
