  1. Hello all...made this awesome soup today. I do not like potatoes in soup, or much of potatoes at all, unless it’s sweet potatoes. But anyway, I used gnocchi instead. Hubby LOVED it and so did I. Yum! https://www.budgetbytes.com/2017/11/smoky-potato-chickpea-stew/

    Building Muscle

Never used creatine but knew of guys (non WLS) who did. One has some severe kidney problems (I’m sure he used steroids and all that other stuff too). My advise is to stay away from it. Do some more homework before adding a synthetic material to your body. I thought I would be out of the park with saggy skin, etc, based on my age, starting weight, the fact that I did weights regularly (have to get back at it) , skin color, etc....but skin stretched out for a period of time does not bounce back as well. I have saggy skin, can’t beat it really unless by some miracle or plastics. But do what you can muscle wise, cause your body will thank you for being stronger (and burning fat easier), but please be extra careful of adding all that other “stuff”.
  3. Good evening y’all. It’s a chilly 30 something outside and a great day for some vegan chili!!! 😁 I used a medium salsa (probably should have used mild) it had quite the kick. I also kind of overmeasure my spices on purpose, but it’s all so tasty. I ate some with a few crackers as well. I actually took pics today. Enjoy!
  4. Great transformation! You’ll get those last 40! Yeah, that scale....I don’t look at it myself. 😊

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

I’ve had something similar, it was ok. I think if I just used it for mixing then I’ll stick to it. I just use almond milk for everything now. But if I happen to see this one, I’ll pick it up to try it too. Thanks for sharing!
  6. No problems with fruit and grains for me, although I could incorporate more fruits in my diet...when you start adding foods, go slowly, see what your stomach will handle, but in my experience of dumping (early in in my sleeve) was due to swallowing/chewing my vitamin way too fast and having something a bit too sweet for my comfort.
  7. @niseys4, @Little Green Is absolutely right. The more you eat, the LESS gas you’ll have. Just keep on eating and eventually your body will become immune, so to speak, to the beans. Black beans are my favorite, I have them quite often and am not gassy either. @Little Green, thank you hon for your likes and kind words! Like @Apple1, I have been mia a bit l, but am returning to be encouraged and give encouragement again. I love Dr Greger too and regularly go to his website, Nutritionfacts.org for information as well. I’m thankful for him and Dr David for the immense information regarding our health and eating a Whole Foods plant based diet. It’s been quite awesome learning and reaping the benefits of it! So....I haven’t made a pic, but I made some chipotle portobello oven fajitas tacos today. Soooo good! I used very thin tortillas, but I probably would have been better off with just 1/2 of one or none at all. WAY too filling for me. Check out the recipe! https://www.budgetbytes.com/2016/06/chipotle-portobello-oven-fajitas/

    Emergen-C?

I have it quite often. It’s okay for me! The whole thing about carbonation is how you can actually handle it. Probably best not to have it (in form of soda) but it won’t screw up your tummy (according to Dr Weiner). I’ll have to find the YouTube video. Some can’t handle the fizz, others can. BUT, having said that, you’re just three weeks out, let it all fizzle out (thankfully it’s not that bubbly) and then consume slowly. Or put it in a whole bottle of water and consume (this way it’s like a flavored drink -no bubbles at all)

    Can I eat popcorn?

Yes, you'll be able to eat it again. I eat it all the time. I think I wait till about 4 months post before I introduced it. I'm 7 mo post now. Now, it's one of my favorites! I could eat it everyday, but I don't. LOL
  10. Awwww thank you!!!! I think I needed a breather. Once I started reading some other threads I got fed up...just like I did with Facebook (deleted it and haven't been back --been almost 2 years now). So, I'm back, because I need to be reminded and encouraged as well. I'll stick to this thread and maybe a few others that seem to not have so much drama!!! LOL I've been making some yummy dinners (errr...sorry, my husband has been making them lately...he gets home before me) and I'll for sure be sharing some more. I love having such a HUGE variety of plant based recipes. It's amazing. Hope all is well with you too....and you all!

    Let’s do this - 2018 goals anyone?

I did up to Aug of 2018 and it'll put me about 23,000 down....so maybe BEFORE the next holiday season, I can have the rest gone. I'm with you....at least a big chunk of it, FOR SURE! You can do this...I'm following Dave Ramsey's steps...but tweaking the emergency to $3000 instead of $1000. Then I'll focus on the 2nd step...debts.
  12. Shared it elsewhere, but I’ve finally been able to put my wedding ring back on. A little bit snug (coming off) but it slides on. I’m a happy wife right now. 😊😍❤️

....how do I add pics to a status?

  13. When you can finally put your wedding ring back on! (I call it a success, even though it’s a little snug). 😍😊

    Is eating breakfast important?

I always eat my breakfast. Sometimes I break my fast by 8am others by 12 noon. It’s still breakfast either way. Have y’all thought of that??? 😊 i don’t eat for the sake of it being “time for breakfast”...that’s overeating in my opinion.

    Let’s do this - 2018 goals anyone?

Oh hey is this supposed to be exercise goals for 2018, since it’s in the fitness forum? Lol well then my goal is to exercise, routinely. 😁

    Let’s do this - 2018 goals anyone?

I’m with @fruitandveggies, goal weight (another 40 lbs) and paying my credit card debts (yep, all $30,000 of it). Totally doable...Lol. That’s it! @fruitandveggies we’ve got to cheer each other on for both our goals. Let’s do it!!!
  17. Sorry for the absence. I’ll do my best to share some more recipes soon!
  18. Hey hon. I don’t count protein AT ALL. not worth the hassle, considering our bodies are not scientifically made for an overdose of it (the western diet pushes that). I just eat Whole Foods plant based and yes, I eat pasta too. ya not my favorite, but I’ll have some. If I have to pick apart my Foods by macro and micro nutrients, then carbs are my friends. Lol. But I don’t. My loss has slowed because I’m not working out. Still losing the pounds though. That’s all that counts to me. I’m not in a race. I also don’t weigh myself that much either. As for my diet, I’m sticking to it. My doc/but is fine with it too. Actually got the surgeon reading Proteinaholic. 😂 yay me!!!
  19. @niseys4 hey there. I apologize for not responding way sooner. I’ve been off the grid, so to speak, for a while. Hon, it was hard for me to make the transition, but I eventually did and I’m so happy I did too. What helped me immensely is using the vegan/vegetarian recipes on www.budgetbytes.com. Such a great site. I think I make about 85% of my meals from there. Check it out! I’ll do my best to check in more often as well https://www.budgetbytes.com/category/recipes/vegetarian/vegan/
  20. Hey guys. I couldn’t find the page! Guess some updates happened. Tonorrow were 7mo post. It’s been busy, hectic, and stressful for me. Waiting sooooooo bad for the holidays to be over! Anyway, I’ll check in tomorrow. I’ll be super surprised if I lost anything, given my stress levels these past couple of months. I’ll be happy enough to have maintained and probably a tad upset if I’m up a pound or two (but nothing to worry about). Anyway, hope everyone is well. Hope to hear from you all mañana. 😊

Cigna - Center of Excellence required?

I’m not sure if it was or not, but I had a COE as well. I would assume that it isn’t required, if the rep couldn’t find anything. But we all know that sometimes reps don’t know everything either. Hope you find your answer, although it wouldn’t hurt to choose a COE to start, and if you’re able.
  22. It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I have to be honest, I got fed up. But, I needed some refreshing to get my mind focused on my health again. Weight loss has slowed significantly, due to a lot of physical stress and holiday preparations. One year I’m going to refuse to do anything for the holidays and let everyone else do it all!!! Just how I feel at the moment. Anyway, haven’t been able to workout either (the pits!!!) been over a month now and I feel very weak, it’s gross. All those weights I’ve done just went out the door. ☹️ Past injuries keep creeping their ugly heads up and it puts a stall on my being able to work out. I’m not worried about my diet, it’s still good. Just wish I can get my body stronger now. Sounds like a lot of complaining but it is what it is now.

Anyone deal with extensor tendinitis in the foot?  Extremely painful...that’s what’s keeping me from moving forward workout wise. I hate it. And a stupid past shoulder injury that won’t let me lift properly. 😡

@Thejeweledsleeve, I am not consistent as much as I should be. I try to stretch but it ends up hurting worse. I applied some Deep Blue essential oil blend and cream for a couple of days and it felt pretty good. I’m going to have to continue that and rest my foot as much as possible. Besides cardio, I should have my butt back in the gym doing weights at least. Gotta get back to routine...that’s the hardest part of all this.

@Newme17 I know how you feel. I use a rolling massage ball for my foot and ankle in the morning and before bed. I then stretch it while laying in bed. It seems to help loosen it up from a night of being inactive. You will get back into the routine. We all fall off at some point. The point is, to get back on track eventually.

@ThejeweledsleeveAbsolutely. I need Christmas parties, trips, broken bones, surgeries, sicknesses, spending, and everything else off the table right now!!!! I think I’ll get down and stretch now too. Take some deep breaths. Lol. Thanks hon.

  23. Ok Nevermind my scale number yesterday. Doc office weighs me in at 192. My BMI is now 31. Fat mass percentage is still about 15% too high, I’ve got to work on muscle. Overall, it’s good. Since I’m having issues with my tendons in my feet and shoulder problems (ugh, I’m too young for this mess), doc wants me to ride a bike (so boring!!!) for now. I guess so....better than nothing. His goal is another 20 lbs. whether I want to do it by 9 mo or by 12 mo. My choice. Obviously 9 mo would be my choice. So, I’ll work harder/focus until my 9 mo appt in Feb.
  24. Great job hon! Sometimes I find myself slipping, but it’s only a great thing that I can’t slip a ton of food, just a few bites. Anyway, it takes work. I’m going to have to focus on making it work and sticking to it! You keep it up....and when you hit 200, or better yet, 199...let us know. We’ll celebrate with you! 😊
