  1. I am going to my first yoga class today!
  2. I was having a hard time getting in more than 700 calories when I first started eating foods. Now I am getting in about 1100-1300. I will have to see if that helps, but I didn't lose any weight at 700 calories either! My stomach just couldn't hold more. try eating more!
  3. Soup saved me! I would go to the grocery store where they have self-serve hot soups and scoop up soup but skip the veggies, noodles, etc and just get the broth. I would get 2-3 at a time and keep them in the fridge. Totally saved me!!! YUM!
  4. If you can drink whey, look for something called NECTAR. It is clear and makes a sort of juice. I bought the lemon flavor, and it tastes like lemonade. I also added a to-go pouch of lemonade crystal light, but don't think it's really necessary. New! NECTAR - The protein that taste like fruit juice! It was very, very good, but I don't tolerate the whey, so only got to have it once! Try it! I found it at Vitamin Shoppe.
  5. My calories range from 900-1300 or so. Sometimes I go under (like 700-800) and sometimes over (up to 1500) but overall it's within the range. My carbs are always very high, like 50-90 grams, but I eat a lot of soy products which have higher carbs that meat Proteins. I seem to be fine. My fiber ranges from 8-12 a day. I try to get to 60 grams of Protein, and am able to do that pretty easily by eating protein first at every meal. Fat is always high, and I really don't know why since I keep to low fat foods only! I have been having some avocado, salmon or olive oil, which I consider "good" fats, but still increases the fat intake. I keep track of it all on calorieking.com and am super happy with that website. I love calorieking because it organizes a lot of data for you. It organized my last two weeks and gave me my daily averages and breakdowns for two weeks. calories: 922 fat: 39 carbs: 75 protein: 67 fiber: 9 it also includes averages of Calcium, sodium, Iron, etc.
  6. I wait half an hour. At work, I just don't bring Water or anything to drink to the lunch room. I have no restriction yet and have not had a fill. I don't want to lose weight too slowly, so at home I am very careful to watch the time. Twice I went out to eat since the surgery, and just pushed the water aside. BUT yesterday I was invited to a restaurant opening in my neighborhood and they had free wine and samples of the food... I'll admit, I had both- together. I am hoping it's ok once in awhile!
  7. Count your lucky stars! I feel like I felt all of my teens and 20's overweight and lost out on a lot of experiences. When I turned 30 I decided to have it, and I finally had the surgery a week after my 31st birthday. I am determined, I may have been fat through my 20's but I won't be fat through my 30's!!! I wish I had this tool at 19. I honestly feel like my life would be VERY different if I had been able to lose weight and keep it off at 19! You can be so successful with this! Doors will open for you and you have a whole life ahead of you!! Try to keep positive. Soon you will be thinner, and ready to take on the world. The biggest regret I have is that there are so many things I have not done because I was embarrassed by my weight or unsure of how my body would do. I always wanted to travel abroad, but worried about being perceived as a "fat American." I skipped out on ski trips with friends, and other things that my friends did that I was afraid to do (water ski, snow board, etc.) I did those things as a kid, but in my adult life, never had the guts to do them again! I should have dated more, because I'm still single and haven't had a good, solid long-term relationship in about 6 years! (I do date, but I can't trust people much because I always wonder what they see in me so they are fairly short relationships!) Believe me, you are the perfect age to do this! Take on the world-- please, for me!!
  8. I kept to liquids, but the liquids I drank were not exactly on the list. I ended up having a lot of soup broth (instead of clear chicken broth, broth from chunky chicken soup- and no I was not straining it) and I drank Odwalla Juices. I was told not juice or drinks with calories, but I was hardly getting in enough calories anyway, and the 300 calories from the juice made me more normal (up to a whopping 600 calories!)
  9. B- 2 Trader Joe's Turkey Meatballs (100 calories) L- 3 Morning Star Farms veggie chicken nuggets, mustard, 2 inches of a banana S- 2 mini tacos D- chicken salad w/ crackers, then some salmon on the side. Amazingly, that was 60 grams of protein!
  10. Congratulations and good luck! I am in Seattle. I was self-pay and it was a lot more expensive than I see ads for on this board! But it has been completely worth it!
  11. I tried this stuff called Diet Viso. It's ok tasting but a bit strong. I have been mixing half with water. No calories, minerals, vitamins and electrolytes.
  12. I totally over ate today, but not compared to before. I ate 1428 calories. That's about double what I had been able to eat up until now. I think my hunger kicked in and my stomach must have stretched. I'm still eating small quantaties but more often. Now I know I will have to watch it. Before I was worried about NOT ENOUGH CALORIES, now I need to make sure I get in GOOD CALORIES! B- 1 turkey meatball (50 calories) S- baked pita chips 228 (NOT A GOOD CHOICE!) L- 2 chicken Satay (left over from a Thai restaurant) 270 calories w/ peanut sauce 80 calories S- candy pumpkins (why oh why did I buy those?) 150 calories D- mini tacos 200 calories S- more candy pumpkins 100 calories S- more mini tacos 200 calories Now, I realize I am still way under my calories... but I ate too many times and I should NOT have had candy!! Ok, now I know I will go get a fill sooner rather than later! I am dumping them in the trash and pouring old Soup on top of them! Also, I didn't eat enough Breakfast (running out the door) and was hungry by 9:00 again but couldn't eat until my students had their snack at 11:00. That's when I pigged out on the pita chips.
  13. I think I've joined ww at least 20 times in the last 10 years!! Often I join twice or even 3 times in a year, do it for a month or so and quit. I even once got the 16 week pin... sad thing was in that 16 weeks, I hadn't even lost 16 pounds! (too much up and down from week to the next losing the same 2-3 pounds and gaining it back!) Now I sort of want to join ww just to get those pins and keychains and things. I never, never, ever, got my 10%. In the last 4 weeks, I have totally lost 10% of my weight! Does anyone else feel this way? I feel it's a bit like revenge!
  14. I was a slower recoverer I think.. I had the surgery Monday, Aug. 18 and took a week at home. The following Monday I went to a computer training for work, and was sitting most of the day but felt AWFUL! By Tuesday I was better, but still sore. I had a difficult time until probably Thursday or Friday of that week sitting for too long, as it hurt my port site (I found out later I had a slight infection.) However, it was also one of my busiest weeks (because I had a lot to catch up on) and had 12 hour days every day that first week back. I was told 4 to 7 days and was expecting myself to be a four day person, as I am pretty young and have few health problems! Nu-uh! I would say it was at least 10 days before I felt really well. At the hospital, the nurses were calling me a "superstar" because I was walking around so much and becoming very active, but that was not at all a prediction to how long it took me to feel good again!!
  15. Does anyone use calorieking.com? I signed up for a year and so far LOVE it. It tells me the grams of Protein, carbs, Fiber and everything, along with calories, Water, exercise, etc. I totally suggest it. It's $55 for the year or $7 a month.
  16. Breakfast- 1 turkey meatball (Trader Joe's) w/ ketchup Snack- 1/4 cup refried beans Lunch - chicken satay w/ peanut sauce (at Thai Restaurant) Dinner - Chicken salad and crackers
  17. I doubt even if I get to goal I could wear a bikini unless I get some major reconstructive surgery... but I'm only 31! I might be able to swing it for a few more years! What about you??
  18. That's not really my look, but I will totally be dressing hot! Lowrise jeans, tank tops, etc. Maybe mini skirts will become my look. A cute jean skirt with cowboy boots???? Looks sexy on some girls... maybe it will become my thing too?!? I have always liked the sort of 50's look though, with a-line skirts and little cap sleeved t's, or strapless sundresses with a billowy skirt. I think those things are sexy and cute. So I voted no!
  19. Mine was very light, but lasted twice as long. I did have a lot of gas and cramps as well.
  20. I was in last week and the nurse told me to schedule a fill for 2 weeks from now. I am 4 weeks out from surgery, but haven't yet been able to eat more than 3-4 oz at a sitting, am almost never hungry (only on the rare occasion that I wait a LONG time between meals- like 6 hours) and am having a hard time getting in even 700 calories. I am losing weight rapidly. I emailed the dietician but she is out of the office due to some personal issue for a few days (I think she needed to go see family out of town for an emergency.) Anyway, I am hesitant to schedule a fill, as I have to take off work and everything, just to go and then find it makes things worse. BTW- I have never PBed or vomited or anything. I had no restriction during surgery.
  21. I never did a pureed stage! I was on liquids for 3 weeks now am on soft foods. I can eat crackers, pretzels, chicken, eggs, veggies, fruit and so forth, as long as I chew well.
  22. I used to eat until I felt gross... I would eat a whole package of Cookies, or totally over eat on take out until my stomach hurt! That was NOT enjoying food! Right now I am enjoying how little it takes to make me feel satisfied and I am enjoying the numbers on the scale going down. I went out to eat and enjoyed the company and my appetizer! You will find other things to enjoy!
  23. First off, I think you won't WANT junk food for awhile... second, it's scary to think about what could happen if you cheat. I had a WHOLE tub of Cookies on my counter since my pre-op diet and amazingly STILL have not had one, and I can eat food now. Stock up on the things you need to eat and focus on your healing. It has been harder for me since starting food, as we often have goodies at work, but even then, I have not cheated and tried any big no-no's. You are going to want to do what's good for your body!
  24. I actually GAINED weight in the hospital (water weight from the IV I think) and it took at least a week for that to go down. I think I lose a few pounds every four or five days... it pretty consistently will be the same for a number of days then I have a big drop. It took almost two weeks to lose the 8 pounds I gained from the Water, then it dropped like crazy for about two weeks. I have been the same ALL week this week, then noticed this morning I dropped another 2 lbs! It's very erratic for me. Over the last 4 weeks I have lost about 23 lbs. I think 12-15 of that was in the first two weeks (counting water.)
  25. I also had a low calorie intake for the last few weeks (always less than 600) and now I am eating food and also taking in about the same amount! I am trying to figure out what to do as well. I think if you are hydrated, feel good and are healing well it should be ok... just get the Protein in, that's the important part!
