It depends totally on if you think its good or not! That post op liquid diet is for healing, not loss. If you lose during it, all the better. You may gain a bit when you can "eat" before you get restriction, but that's normal too.

I also did not have a preop diet. I lost 20 lbs in the first two weeks. I think most of that was probably Fluid.< /p>

I actually GAINED weight in the hospital (water weight from the IV I think) and it took at least a week for that to go down. I think I lose a few pounds every four or five days... it pretty consistently will be the same for a number of days then I have a big drop.

It took almost two weeks to lose the 8 pounds I gained from the Water, then it dropped like crazy for about two weeks. I have been the same ALL week this week, then noticed this morning I dropped another 2 lbs! It's very erratic for me.

Over the last 4 weeks I have lost about 23 lbs. I think 12-15 of that was in the first two weeks (counting water.)

I lost 13 pounds on my all liquid diet. But I also work in a non-air conditioned warehouse, so Sweating was profuse. The day I came home after my surgery, I was up 5 pounds. But I figured that I had been on an IV for the last 26 hours, so I was probably retaining some Water and the anesthia(?) probably wasn't helping anything. But within the week, it went away again. My total loss was 22 pounds. I feel I was really lucky, during my time prior to getting my fill, I only gained 1/2 pound back. Yesterday was a week since my first fill and I lost 3 pounds. It's hard to be optimistic about only 3 pounds, when your used to seeing the scale really move. But they say that 1-2 pounds a week is good. So I'm revamping my positive feelings, by telling myself that I have done a great job. It's not all going to come off over night and persistance will pay off. :)

How many days do you have to stay in the hospital after lap band? First appt. with surgeon is Oct. 8, 2008, been approved by PCP.

wintobethin...how long in hospital depends on how fast you recover and your surgeon's requirements. Mine usually keeps people overnight but let me go home the same day, once I'd done a thin barium swallow and he knew everything was working right and going where it is supposed to.

wintobethin, I had surgery at 11 am and I was home by 430. Unless there are complications, my surgeon lets everyone go home the same day.

Skysmom I'm not sure since I didn't know I had it until I came to in recovery! However I've heard that the fatter you are, the more likely it is an issue, and people with a BMI of 50 or over (and I was WAY over, if you'll check my stats) are more at risk! However following an austere "atkins" type diet causes you to lose visceral fat first, so after 2 1/2 more weeks of preop, following my surgeon's diet 100% (instead of my own "modified" version) I lost another 17 pounds. That 32 pounds down did the trick for me.

No pre-surgery liquid diet for me because I wasn't supposed to get banded in the first place. I was scheduled for a gastric bypass but my surgeon discovered that I had too much scar tissue from a previous accident to do it, so we went with Plan B.

I was 365lbs in my pre-surgery weigh in. After 11 days on liquid only diet, I was 340lbs at the first follow up appointment and 334 today, after 4 days of tiny meals consisting of eggs, refried Beans, and Jello.

31 lbs in 15 days

I am being rebanded On Sept 16.

Anyway I found that it switched back in forth from losing lbs on the scale then when that stopped a few days I lost inches. Then back to dropping lbs a few days, then back to inches etc. It was really quite interesting.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
