Day Two and Feeling Good -- Too Good?
I was allowed very thin oatmeal in the second week as part of my full liquid diet. Each surgeon is different.

Any St. Louis/Metro Area Sleevers out there?
@@jamilw and @@addibrk2 I hope you don't mind that I added you as friends. Have either of you attended any of the support groups through Des Peres?

Stop smoking
It all comes down to what you want more. I smoked for 20 years, but was able to quit during both my pregnancies because of something I wanted more than a cigarette. I finally quit smoking for good when I decided that I was too fat and unhealthy. I quit smoking cold turkey, but it took me almost 8 years to do anything permanent about my weight. Quitting isn't easy, but rarely is anything worth doing. Good Luck!

Sleeved Yesterday
Welcome to Sleeveland! It takes a few days to adjust, but as time goes on, I think you're gonna like it here.

Fit bit? Should I?
I have owned and/or used a Fitbit for the last 5 years and when I stay on top of wearing it, it definitely keeps me on track. I motivate me, it just helps me know how well I'm doing and reminds me to push myself when needed! They also have a waterproof version.

What's your spark?
I found this old blog post of mine from 5 years ago today. 4 years after I decided that WLS was the devil and nearly 5 years before it was my "salvation". I enjoyed reading it so, I thought you might too! So there I was....minding my own business, (I know some of you don't believe it, but it's true) when my thoughts meandered to Space. Yes...the FINAL FRONTIER. (actually I have this whole theory about it being the ONLY FRONTIER, but I digress) I was thinking about the vast expanse. Stuff just floating around out there. I have always heard that when something is put into motion in space, it continues on the same trajectory from where it began. Never deviating from course, except for those cases when it might hit something else drifting along. I have heard this often referred to as "space junk" It's just a bunch of material discarded when we were done with it...just gliding around until it's demolished by a passing meteor, picked up by the tail of a comet, or enters the atmosphere of a nearby planet and disintegrates in a fiery explosive ball (may not be scientifically accurate). Day after day...just cruising blindly along the Milky Way, vacationing on Orion's belt, or freewheeling past Cassiopeia. (not necessarily in that order) When we travel in space...it's with a purpose. We want to get to the moon...we go to the moon. How do we achieve such a feat and avoid lunching near Andromeda with all the other misplaced and/or discarded items? Propulsion. A means of propelling; propelling force, impulse, etc. Being a life study pupil of language, I was embarrassed to find that my definition was off. Propulsion is not the act of moving forward as I had previously thought, but instead...it is the spark that ignites you. Its the driving force that gets you moving. In space, not unlike dieting (or exercising, healthy living, or insert -ing here), in order to get to where you want, you need more than that initial spark. You need to keep inciting yourself to stay on course. This is the only way that you will reach the Moon, or Mars, or Leo Minor. Tired of feeling like space junk? I am . Today's spark: My unwillingness to let anyone else defeat me, let alone myself. What's your spark? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

TERRIFIED
I am 8 weeks post op and I have had pizza in my face about 6 times since the surgery. 2 weeks post op it was all I could think about. Even with it in my face, never took a bite. It wasn't worth the trying to find a way to force Protein later. It's something I wouldn't have been able to imagine pre-op and its still hard to fathom post-op.

Getting Frustrated
Explain to the office your strategy and need, they are sometimes willing to accommodate you if they understand.

Pre Op Diet / Diabetic
Are you on meds for diabetes? If you are keep close track of your b/s and make sure if you are seeing lows to let your doc know. Mine had me stop all meds during pre-op as a result of lows. Good Luck!

Strength Training
I'm starting this week which will be 8 weeks out, but in all fairness, I was given the ok at 4. Good Luck!

Major NSV
I am just days away from 2 months out, but wanted to share my favorite NSV so far. I am a Type 2 diabetic who has been on Metformin for 10 years and a Bydureon non-insulin injectable for 2 years. Even while on medication my average fasting blood sugar was 140. I was taken off all medications during my pre-surgery liquid phase with the docs intention to add them back in slowly once we had a better idea of where I would be post-op. 2 months later and not only am I not on meds, but my fasting blood sugar was 85 this morning. Thank God I went forward with this surgery. If I never lose another pound this alone would be worth it.

Weight gain
I'm experiencing the same exact thing. I called my nutritionist after I fluctuated between the same 3 lbs for over a week. I was eating between 500-700 calories and he told me I should have been increasing to 850-1000 by this point. I did so and lost .7 by the next morning. Call your team and get their opinion. They will help you figure it out.

Changing My Strategy
The funny thing is that there is a difference, but I am still extremely overweight 240 on a 5' 1.5" frame. I look better, but I don't look fantastic (except in comparison)...lol. I always say thank you and act graciously, but my point is that it made me cognizant of what I say to other people. I'm just going try t be more aware of what I'm saying.

Changing My Strategy
Earlier today I posted a then/now style picture to a bariatric FB group and to my own personal FB page. I see myself small changes but I do not see the major difference that other people seem to gush over. I know it's there, because I am down sizes and the clothes I can't seem to part with drape like crazy. I like to do the side by side pic just to see and today it kinda floored me. As soon as I posted, I got the "You look amazing" "You look fantastic". In my head, I followed up every compliment with "in comparison". Because of this, I am changing my strategy. This journey is NOT about how I look, it's about changing my life and how I feel in my own skin. So from now on, I will no longer tell anyone they look amazing. If you're getting a compliment from me it will be "You look like you feel fantastic. "

Today's the day...
This is normal fear. I worried about leaving my girls behind with their crazy father. (Like not literally insane, but the having S'mores for dinner kind of crazy) I had my surgery on 10/26/2016 and everything went off without a hitch. Less than two months out, my ability to be with them and be involved with them has already increased to the point that I'm mostly upset that I didn't do it sooner. I'm 41. Got to make up for wasted time. Praying for you!

Looking for buddy and/or mentor - sleeved 12/7/2016 :D
I can't be much of a mentor (sleeved 10/26/2016), but almost through the reintroduction diet phase. I'd be pleased to answer any questions based on my recently having gone through it.
