leothelion2 reacted to BigDog Bryan in Sleeve or Bypass?
I had VSG on October 20th, 2015. In just over 16 months I've lost about 140 pounds. It comes to about 35% of my peak body weight, and I could not be happier. I chose VSG so that my digestive tract would remain intact, so that I don't have to worry about malabsorption of Vitamins and/or Medications that I may require later in life.
The ONLY change that I would make would be to have the surgery sooner. I feel as if my clock has been tout 12 years, and I can go into most any store and buy clothes. I can sit down in a booth at a Diner, and my waist size starts with a "3" for the first time in decades. I suppose I would be further along after a Bypass, but going from a 5X to a 2X in a year+ seems plenty fast for me.
Hope that this little testimony helps you. Congratulations on choosing to take back your health and All the Best, no matter which way you choose to go.

I only told a few people because I don't want to hear the negative comments. This is my personal journey and I plan to keep it that way. When people ask what I'm doing to lose weight, I tell them the following: I haven't had Diet Coke or sugar since August 1st. In November, I cut out all refined carbs. My diet is made up of Protein, veggies, few fruits, lots of Water and exercise. None of that is a lie.

I think that's a fear of mine people asking about my weight loss and not knowing what to say because as of now I don't want friends or co workers to know I was sleeved. I feel they will look at me differently

It is hard, they are jealous. This is why I have not told many people, I'm starting to get comments about weight loss and I just wish that people would ignore it for now. I have such a long way to go and I am fighting my own fears of failure. I get comments daily from coworkers on what I am or am not eating and I am almost at a point where I want to just go eat in my car because I do not want to hear anyone's opinions about any of it.

This Friday December 9th I will be one month post-op.
    A little refresher on me:
I was 470 pounds on October 26th when I started my pre op diet.
I was 440 pounds when I had my surgery on November 9th.
    By November 19th I was 420 pounds.
The weight loss slowed down then and by November 29th I was around 413 pounds. 7 pounds in 10 days.
I joined a gym near my job that has an indoor pool and after my surgeon said it was OK to swim, I decided to start swimming for 30 minutes each morning at 7 am before I go to work. I'm doing the breast stroke, nice and easy, taking my time.
I started swimming on November 29th at 413 pounds. Today December 6th I'm 403.5 pounds.
The swimming is helping the weight come off! If you are NOT exercising, you really should. It makes a difference!
As for eating, I'm trying to get in around 100-120 grams of Protein a day. The swimming makes me hungry so I bring about 5-6 small meals with me to work. I try to eat about every 2-3 hours. It could be a chobani greek yogurt, some pureed chicken or turkey, Soup, hummus.
I'm trying to be aware of fat and sugar and make protein the most important thing I eat, plus plenty of Water.< /p>
I'm just really happy I started swimming because it's really helped me to get even more energetic in the morning and it's going to help with the weight loss!
    Thanks for reading this!

leothelion2 reacted to RNMomof4 in Any dinning advice for Disneyland in California?
I have not been to Disneyland but went to Disney World a couple weeks ago. We ate out for most meals. My daughter (9) and I would usually split a chicken Cesar salad or occasionally a cheeseburger which I would eat with no bun. Also ate part of my husband's meals and never really ordered one for myself. I did not want to be carrying a bunch of food around while in the parks. I took strollers, bags, and tons of stuff for years so I am happy not carrying anything more than a small purse!
