Just spent an hour of my life I'll never get back reading in the Pre-/Post-Op Sleeve forums and I'm amazed by what people will still, even as they're undertaking MAJOR SURGERY, say to justify their behavior.

There are people about to have most of their stomach removed who say "I don't have a problem with food". Say what?? I'm pretty sure the Fat Fairy didn't put all this weight on any of us, right? "I couldn't stop myself". Yes, you could have...you DIDN'T. "Everyone does it". No, they don't. YOU did.
As I'm typing this out, it's clear that I'm fed up with the lack of ownership of behavior. It's odd to watch fat people trying to float the same justifications here that they've used for years with other people. Walking into a group of fat people and saying "I don't have a problem with food" is pretty ridiculous...that dog just won't hunt here. If you can't be honest with yourself and a group of people much like yourself, how can you succeed with WLS? The non-ownership of our own actions and capabilities is what got many (most?) of us to where we are and it kills me that there are people STILL wallowing in the 'I don't control myself' pool who are getting WLS. What a waste.

You are spot on. It really is a very sad situation when people are given this amazing opportunity and they can't rise above food to take full advantage of it. It really is a mental game from the very beginning, and I don't think many people who post on here get that. They look at the insurance requirements (if they are using insurance) as "hoops" to jump through instead of thinking about why the requirements are there and how they can actually be beneficial to help them mentally prepare for surgery and their post-op life.
I try to remember that this is a public forum, so there will be a wide variety of opinions from people with very different types of lives, but after being on here for a few months, I am more convinced than ever that LOTS of people get this surgery for the wrong reasons, see it as some kind of magic wand that it isn't, and ultimately are not going to be successful long-term because they refuse to change their relationship with food.< /p>
I just think "bless your heart" and move on. People are going to do what they are going to do...

I am so happy today I was sleeved this time last year on this day at 387 pounds and felt like I was headed to my death bed if I didn't make some changes. This is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. I hit onederland (199) today as well and have surpassed all of my surgeons expectations. That is a total weight loss of 188 pounds and from a size 32 to a 14 in 1 year never thought I would see the scale for myself under 200 again. I feel great I exercise everyday and I am not dying of starvation! LOL! The best part is I think for the 1st time in my adult life I am truly happy and not just hiding behind a smile.

I don't regret it but I am not happy right now. liquids suck. Purees are going to suck. I want real food, not even bad stuff. I would cut a bitch for some asparagus and boneless skinless chicken breast.

Okay guys, this is getting awesome. At my highest weight I wore a size 6x t-shirt. I love funny T-shirts and every year when my family and I go to Maine I stock up on funny t-shirts at the little stores in town. This year in August I saw a couple shirts I loved but they didn't come in my size. I decided to get them anyway thinking that I'll be losing weight and maybe I'll fit in them eventually.
Since I've been trying to do things I previously couldn't I decided to try one on just to see how close I was.
It fit. I mean a bit snug, but it could maybe be passable. I won't wear it out yet until it fits looser but before I would have never been able to get it over my head let alone be able to have it on and sit down without it rolling up
The size? 2x!! I wore a 6x and now I almost fit in a 2x!! I did cry this time guys and it felt really good
    Highest weight 10/30/2015: 540
    Surgery weight 5/27/16: 480
    Current weight: 352
Also, I'm sooo close to losing 200 pounds in a little over a year!!!

I got up to 505. Started getting ready 6 months ago. Was staying at 468. When I went on the liquid diet I lost 15 pounds. Had the surgery on the 12th of October. Weighed 453. As of November 9th I've lost to 420. My journey is at 75 pounds so far. Hoping to be at 250 within a year. I was a bulk eater don't care for sweets. This is the best thing ever. I'm losing a pound a day with no hunger. It's great. Haven't found anything I can't eat yet except pork. And milk makes me gassy. I go back to work Monday as an OTR truck driver. And figure I'll live on chicken and slim fast shakes. Lol

This is my first post also. I was sleeved on 8/26/16 and have also strayed from the nutrition instructions mainly because I miss my veggies. It's hard staying within the parameters sometimes and getting variety. I have continued to lose and am still aware of my healing new stomach so I don't push it too much.
