  1. I find it quite curious that after asking a question of the "guys" out there, so far only women have posted an answer. Just another example of how they want to put words into our mouths.....LOL (It's a joke people, don't anyone start looking for a lawyer.....sheeesh!) And I agree with what Tracy had to say. Less padding, more energy.
  2. Sherry, welcome to Bandlandia. Many happy losses to you and yours.
  3. I hear ya, Faybie. We haven't figured out yet, that we can order one LARGE meal and share it. I'm sure you can imagine the amount of food that we leave on the table. But I am starting to learn to just eat what is on my plate and not what is one BOTH plates....LOL
  4. Well, my wife had to go back 6 times for fills. Each time was a little more tight. Number 5 she had a little trouble getting the sip of water down, but eventually it went. And so did everything else after that. With number 6 she started getting the golfball sensation and she is still going with itfor now. It just takes time and you'll get there.
  5. Of course, now, if I keep going the way I'm going, I'll be needing a band of my own.....LOL
  6. Before the holidays....way back before Thanksgiving....MsJoy was 256. Had been 256 since August. Not gaining, but then again, not losing either. But the holidays loomed just ahead and the demons of cookies, cakes and pies. And let me tell you, MsJoy's deep dish pecan pie is enough to make you slap your mama. Shovel on a big ol' slab of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream and I'm talkin' HEAVEN. Well, just yesterday, she went into the local doc's office and weighed............wait for it............255. Life is good!
  7. StacyBee, an NSV is a NON SCALE VICTORY.
  8. kjojojr, the Hondas are great bikes. Loved mine when I had them. And affordable. Now we're AD (after dependents) and have a little more disposable income. It's nice to be able to get what we want. I started looking at bikes again after a long dry spell and was really looking at the Goldwings. My wife tells me one day, "Would you just go ahead and get you a Harley? It's what you really want." Well, who was I to argue...? LOL
  9. lisah, just do what my wife does.....Go to the buffet or order from the menu, eat what you want or can and let the busboy take the rest. Period!
  10. You're welcome....MsJoy could use more support too. She's been stuck on a plateau for about 3 months now. I'll have to get out my wet noodle and shoo her up there for a meeting or two. LOL
  11. Support meetings for Dr. J's patients are the first Thursday of the month, first floor of Medical City, at 7:00 pm, in the cafeteria area. My wife has only been to one. It's a long trip for us.
  12. Carola, I ride a '98 Harley Road Kind Classic. I've had the Honda 350's too. What sort of riding are you looking to do? What is your comfort level? Crotch Rockets are nice, but not if you're heading out on a 3000 mile ride. Price is another concern. I love my Harley, but they don't give them away.
  13. You KNOW I had to read this thread when I noticed that you captured both my wife's and my daughter's names with your handle. Welcome and good luck.
  14. Just my two cents worth. My wife experiences the left shoulder pain when she is getting hungry. Or.....when she has a little stomach gas. She pops a Gas-X and it USUALLY goes away.
  15. I should really start checking the dates on these threads before I start reading them. This one was started back in 2004....LOL My wife is a patient of Dr. J's, almost one year out. We live between Dallas and Houston.
  16. MaryRose, as long as she keeps you coming back, it's just more money in her bank account. I would at least get a doctor that is younger and a little more up to date with weight loss solutions.
  17. Good point, Brandy. I use the "new posts" link most of the time. Then use the "quick links" and "mark forums read"...
  18. Tammy, MsJoy has only lost about 45 lbs, but she has really been losing inches. She had to go from a 13 to an 11 in undies. And she has started pulling blouses out of the back of the closet that she hasn't worn in a looooooong time. Banded 12/28/05
  19. Others have voiced some of your same symptoms. First of all, I'd stay away from the PIZZA DOUGH....hello....bread???? When you over eat, it causes your stoma to swell, causing your restriction. Take a couple of days and do liquids then start over and really pay attention to what you are eating....and what you shouldn't be eating.
  20. If you will go to www.obesity.com they have an option where you can check on doctors in your area. Good luck!!!!
  21. Renae, my wife had her surgery in Dallas from Dr. J If you have questions, just ask away. Someone will have an answer or know where to send you.
  22. Janet, welcome to LBT. Good to have you here. I'm the Darling Husband to the banded one, MsJoy. Any questions, just ask away. I'm sure someone will give you an answer.
  23. "....honest Doc, I thought she was that woman from the Excorcist." ROTFL
  24. Keri, you sound like Joy. She does love her shakes and she certainly hates exercising. As she says, "OMG, I'm sweating!!!" You can do it!
  25. Ditto what Diane said.....
