I'm going to approach this slightly different & give myself advice I wish I had: Don't start drinking alcohol again.

Don't compare your weight loss to others. Everyone is different.

    Change.

    That's it. Just, Change.

Get comfortable with that word, because it's the most important thing required to make WLS work.

    You. Must. Change.

I hear you. You *might* have vagus nerve problems, but you might not. Does that mean you shouldn't have the surgery? Let me ask another question: You *might* get hit by a car crossing the street. Does that mean you shouldn't leave the house? No matter what we do, there are risks. Even doing nothing has risks, especially when it comes to our bodies.
In your plea, I hear fear talking. It's time to tell fear to STFU. Good luck!

What you're saying doesn't sound sad. It sounds human.

Of course you feel the way you do. You just reached the end of a difficult journey, only to realize you've just started. What so many don't understand is that surgery isn't the end. It's the start of your new life. And it's emotional! It's 100% okay to cry sometimes. But rather than mourning what you've lost, focus instead on what you've gained!
Good luck. You are not alone.

DaleCruse got a reaction from Emersyn in 6 weeks post op- Sashimi Sushi?
Sushi is one of my favorites, so I understand your desire!
Like reintroducing most foods, I suggest you have a bite or two. Wait five or 10 minutes. See how you feel. If you feel great, have another bite. Wait. Make sure you feel great before having any more. If at any point it hurts, stop.
Remember that even among sashimi, you're going to have a wide variety of textures. Salmon will have a different texture than egg or octopus. You may find you tolerate certain textures much sooner than others. It took me a while to handle dense Proteins like octopus. See what feels right to you & adjust.
One nice thing about sashimi & chirashi is you get rice either on the side or under your fish. If your sashimi is too difficult to eat, enjoy some rice instead.
Gluten-free, low-sodium soy (usually called Tamari) is a great alternative, WLS or not. I use it all the time.
    Enjoy!

I bought all the tools, read everything I could, & thought I was prepared for everything. I wasn't.
You know what surprised me? How difficult it would be to get in enough Water. My advice? Put your credit card away. Turn from focusing on the external to focusing on the internal. Prepare yourself to work on getting in enough water after surgery.
Good luck. You are not alone.

The answers to your second question will vary widely. The fact that your insurance company will cover your surgery puts you at an advantage.
There are several reasons for the monthly weigh ins. They want to see you're serious about this effort. They want to see progress, no matter how minimal. They want you to mentally prepare for this surgery. You might think you're ready now but without training & preparation you really don't understand what life will be like post surgery, especially immediately after surgery.
Stick around the forum. Ask questions but do your research first. You'll find that over the years we've covered a lot of ground here.
Good luck to you. You are not alone.

First, good luck to you. Take it easy. Forgive yourself. If you need to go home early, do so. It's part of your healing process.
I'm lucky & have a desk job. When I was sleeved, I was able to work from home for basically as long as I wanted. I don't know if that's an option for you.
Good luck. You are not alone.

Ok, take a deep breathe and forgive yourself as you would a friend.
I think, regardless of when you have the surgery, you need to talk with a therapist to work through some of your triggers for post/long term success.
Start your fluids and Protein and steer clear of your triggers. This phase is super hard, I’m so glad mine is over, I struggled really badly. cheese was my weakness.
