All the other surgical procedures listed here are invisible to other people. The weight loss associated with bariatric surgery is very visible. People are going to notice you're losing weight. You could tell them & control your own narrative or you could remain silent & let people dream up reasons you're losing weight. "Is she sick?! Do he have cancer?! I bet it's HIV!" Control your narrative or let others do it for you.

Thanks! I gained some weight back. I lost a total of 108lbs & have regained about 40. I'm not proud of that. Luckily I require no prescription medications, as all my other vital signs are well within normal limits. This journey we're all on is hard!

before surgery i would have said it was 80 percent surgery and 20 percent mental
after going thru it i see the surgery makes it easy to loose weight but does not change you inside your own head.
i now see its 90 percent mental and 10 percent surgery. If you win the mental game the surgery will carry you thru
but if you lose the mental game the surgery cant save you.
i use Sudoku puzzles to distract myself. just find what works for you.

Today, for the first time since surgery, I woke up wanting something. For the last few days I’ve had to force down the Water, Protein and broth but today I look forward to it. I took a few sips and no pain from my new stomach. I want to gulp it all down but will not, I will just keep sipping for Now.
Thank God I finally can drink fluids again without pain
    Have a great day!

Badly. I've always been a drinker. Once I fully healed I became more of a drinker. One to two bottles of wine a day every day. I don't recommend that. If you're the kind of person who can have one or two drinks & stop, I envy you. I know myself well enough to know if there's a bottle open, I need to finish it. Today makes 105 days since I've had a drink.

When of the skills each of us has to develop is how to tell truth from bullshit. If anyone tells you you'll never eat X food again, that's bullshit. After a time, you'll get to the point that you can eat just about anything. It might be a very small amount, but you'll be able to eat it. There are plenty of things you probably shouldn't eat, but that's a different matter. Good luck!

I hear you. You *might* have vagus nerve problems, but you might not. Does that mean you shouldn't have the surgery? Let me ask another question: You *might* get hit by a car crossing the street. Does that mean you shouldn't leave the house? No matter what we do, there are risks. Even doing nothing has risks, especially when it comes to our bodies.
In your plea, I hear fear talking. It's time to tell fear to STFU. Good luck!

Wow, you sound defeatist. If you believe nothing will ever help you lose weight, you'll be right. However, if you think this time will be different, you'll also be right!
