    Surgery 1 week away-feelings?

P S. I was also a low BMI. but had Type 2 and high cholesterol. Barely qualified, but beyond pleased with my results.

    Surgery 1 week away-feelings?

Sounds exactly like mine. Once he met the Dr. (the morning of my surgery) and then after the surgery was over, he was fine. It probably helped my recovery as I was so determined to get up and going so he would stop worrying. If you need anyone to chat with just give me a shout. I really only told one friend (so she could sit with my husband and reassure him I wasn't dying) and my daughter (who was to busy to be much good) Mild discomfort was all I ever felt. Never even took a pain pill. Had the most conservative Dr. ever and spent the first month sipping 2 ounces of liquid every 15 minutes. I was religious about it, which I also think helped with a smooth recovery. Again, good luck. You are going to love your new life.

    Surgery 1 week away-feelings?

My husband was also "not in favor of any elective surgery". He was there for the surgery but I sent him home to get some sleep that night. I was fine by myself. Super supportive hospital staff. My experience was soooo positive and I am so happy that he is now fully on board. I had no problems ever. Am 70 lbs. down now at 10 months. Reversed my Type 2 Diabetes. Completely off my cholesterol meds. No more heartburn. And I don't cry every time I pass a mirror anymore. Best thing I have ever done for myself. I haven't told anyone else except for my children and one good friend here in town. That's a personal decision and am content with it. Good luck. Hope you are as happy as I am.
  4. To Kel and her Surgery Day Twin, I am your Triplet. Y'all are doing better than me, but isn't it fun to be where we are now instead of where we were 10 months ago!!!! Congrats to you both.
  5. Sleeved on 10-3-16. Starting weight 214. I am down 70 lbs. But redrawing battle lines re. my eating. Slipping back into bored munching and very annoyed. So far I am not gaining, but cannot keep this up. I need to get back to recording intake and getting my H2O back on track. I am 10 lbs away from goal, and have been for 2 months. It is hard, as I am just so darn happy with the way I look. Best thing I have ever done for myself. I run/walk 2-3 miles a day and work out with trainer twice a week. Oh, and I am 68 yrs. old. I really want to be at goal on my 1 year anniversary. That would also put me in the "normal" range on my BMI. Of course, now they are changing the game and saying you need to have a waist circumference that is 1/2 your height. That will never happen. I could weigh 98 lbs and my waist/tummy would still be fat. Sigh. Come on media .....let me bask a little while in my newfound energy and size. Tried to attach a pic. No dice.

    Hair Loss

Did some internet research (which may or may not be valid) and it said that the Biotin will skew your tests as it masks the amount of thyroid you are producing, but it not actually cause any problems with your thyroid. It is water soluble and you should lay off it a few days before having bloodwork so your test will reflect your real thyroid levels. "It only affects the test results and is not contraindicated." Just be sure your health provider knows you are taking a Biotin supplement. Next will see what the wise and all knowing internet says about hair loss lasting as long as you are losing weight. I have quite a few points to go and really hope the loss stops sooner than the weight loss.

    Didn't lose any hair!

I am at 6 months also and mine is coming out in daily clumps. I am also anxious for it to stop. I am taking Biotin and have always met the protein goals. I agree that it is a crapshoot. Just want it to stop.
  8. I was astonished that I didn't like coffee after the surgery. Quit it about 2 weeks before so I shouldn't have to deal with headaches from no caffeine. After, even decaffeinated tasted awful. Drink a lot of herbal teas now.
  9. The post about the sliders from OutsideMatchInside is one of the best I have seen on this forum. "When you see people at 2 to 5 years post op and they have regained, do you think theyou regained on Protein shakes and dense protein? No, they regained on sliders." That says it all. Nothing about this is easy......but I bought my first pair os Size 10 pants today and they feel good!!!!! Really good!!!
  10. I have not told anyone I had surgery. I just say, "I am on a Dr.'s mandated diet. I have to eat less and I have to avoid carbs due to blood sugar issues". Anything further is no one's business but my own. I go out to eat all the time and it was a little weird at first, but people will accept what you tell them. I am 6 months out and 60 lbs. down and thank the stars every day that I did this. One ritz cracker instead of the whole sleeve is a joy only a compulsive eater can understand. Keep researching and soul-searching. You will figure out what is best for you.
  11. I have had that problem for ages...before and after my sleeve. I take Colase every day and every 2-3 weeks have to resort to a Dulcolax. I don't think any amount of "the right things" will help me. I just have a sluggish bowel that matched my sluggish metabolism. Thank God for this surgery. I will put up with an occasional pharmaceutical intervention to look and feel this way. 60 lbs. down, 30 to go. Hallelujah!!!!
  12. My big question is how long will I have to deal this with hair loss???? I am right at 5 months...sleeved 10/3/16. Mine has been really shedding for about 3 weeks. And does it affect your eyelashes??? I swear mine are disappearing. And.....most importantly, when can I hope for some of it to start to grow back. I am so happy with every thing else that is happening, I hate to complain, but I would like to know when the light at the end of the tunnel will show up. Thanks for any wisdom you all might have.
  13. I am down about 55 lbs. Sleeved Oct. 3. Am babysitting grandchildren so I haven't been able to weigh for a week. Anxious to see if I have gone up or down. My big question is how everyone is doing with hair loss???? Mine has been really shedding for about 3 weeks. Any cheer on when it will start filling back in??? And does it affect your eyelashes??? I swear mine are disappearing. I am going to ask this on the main site also so hopefully, someone who is farther along can give us some wisdom. Love seeing how every one is doing. Even if my hair is thinning significantly, I am so happy with my health, energy and body. Having to buy clothes now......Fitting into a medium makes me so happy.
  14. 76 pounds is amazing.!!!!! Way to go.

    4 month stall

I am in the same boat. I have been stuck in the 160's for over a month. 160-164. Back and forth. I want a new middle number desperately. I have lost 54 since October. Have 40 more to go. I sort of feel like I have nailed my maintenance diet, but need to get back to losing. Not eating off plan. Just not losing. Sigh. Not really discouraged yet because I feel so good and the clothes are hanging off me. But want to get it going again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
