mbuczkowski got a reaction from JNewman531 in Epic stall :(
Ok. I am frustrated and need to vent. I dropped 65 lbs in 3 months. But the last month has been zilch!
I'm even walking 4- 10mi /day and half of my walks are with a 30lbs pack on my back. In the evenings, I go to the gym for 45min to work arms or legs with weights.
What's up body??? How do I kick this stall. I tried 2 days of carbs, 3 days of liquid protien...still...nothing! I log my food and Water. It's all about 1000cal/day. I get about 120g Protein and 50 or less of carbs.
Ok. I feel better... I just needed to vent.

I am post-op day 4 from my LBL (tummy tuck, butt lift, outer thigh lift) and I am feeling pretty good. My pain pump came out yesterday and my pain is controlled well with my Norco and Valium. Day 2 was the worst for pain. I am numb all over and very swollen but my belly is flat and my bum is lifted and I feel good! I have a small leak from my rear incision but that is normal and getting better each day. FYI - my surgery was with Dr Bruce Mast who is the head of plastic surgery at the University of Florida, the surgery was outpatient and cost $9200 total. I will post more updates as I progress.

You can use a measuring cup.
    1 cup = 8oz
    1/4 cup = 2 oz

I have little 4oz containers with lids that I put my food in.

I figured if I had insurance, I was guaranteed to be healthy. If I didn't, I would have had a complication....its just my luck.

mbuczkowski reacted to Freedom2Thrive in 16 and 340 lbs - My Journey
This is a story about a young man who always had a smile on his face but knew he was different. Whether it be his heart or his waistline he always had the biggest in his class. He never let it hold him back because he saw the best in people when they couldn't see it in him.

He wasn’t always so confident about what life would hold for him. At the age of 12, he had gotten to 220 pounds. Due to a condition unrelated to his weight he suffered pain in his legs and ankles and required surgery to repair a curvature in his legs. Post-op, he gained even more weight. From age 12 to 16 he gained about 120 pounds.

It's hard to see the pain behind this cutie's smile, but when he was 16 he told a psychiatrist that he was ready to die. He felt like he maxed out on his potential in life and it would be okay if he wasn't around anymore. It was an extremely stressful time and he had no proper way to cope with anything, and he let himself get to 340 pounds. He had no values. He had no beliefs and he saw no purpose.

In 2010, his mom read a magazine article about the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program. Through STOMP, patients can access a team of health professionals, support groups and, for those who meet specific criteria, bariatric surgery. At the time, the program was focused on teens with other health issues, such as Type 2 diabetes, but he was still a solid fit. After three months, he had lost 20 pounds and the team was looking at surgical options. In August 2011 and weighing 300 pounds, he had a Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, a form of bariatric surgery

In less than a year he lost around 80 pounds, weighing 220 pounds. His life had changed significantly when it came to eating, but he was prepared for that and knew he would have to manage this for the rest of his life.

It wasn't perfect and for a few years post-op he struggled with multiple different complications, but he found a way to push through them and find some balance in his life.

He began to find purpose in his life. He went to nursing school, driven by the care and passion that many doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals poured into him along his journey. He wanted to give back and make a difference in other people's lives. He wanted others to see that they were just as worth the love and care he received.

He found values. He became accountable for his actions and saw what was truly important in his life. He became a lover of travelling, eating delicious food and engaging in fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle.

He developed a new set of beliefs - that every day is another chance to get stronger, to eat better, to live healthier and be the best version of himself because he is human - perfectly imperfect and worth it.

Dr. Illan was my surgeon. I had surgery on 12/12/16 and had no complications. I had mini gastric bypass. I stayed at Oasis of Hope Hospital and then went to Pueblo Hotel & Casino. Both places were nice. Dr. Illan, his surgical staff, which includes two other bariatric surgeons, the other doctors, nurses and valets were amazing. They were very attentive and made sure I was healing right and that I and my daughter had everything we needed. One of the best decisions I have ever made!!!

I was sleeved Feb 7, 2017. In efforts to capitalize as much as I can in the 1st year, I started really working out. I walk 5-10mi/day. My speed was 23min/no. Now it's 17min/no.
In efforts to keep the muscles I had carrying around the old weight, I started to carry a frame pack with 25lbs of kitty litter.
What are you all doing to get the weight off? Only monitoring the food? Did you pick up new hobbies?

Congratulations!! I just had my LBL on Monday and came home yesterday. So far, it has been great. I stayed two nights in the hospital, which was really nice! The first day post op was a little rough, just trying to get up and move more. Nothing the pain meds couldn't help! When I'm at rest, I feel great. Getting up takes practice, but if you use your arms and legs it is ok! I find the hardest thing is trying to get out of bed after sleeping. I slept I. Our downstairs couch last night so I could be up at an angle, but getting up was painful. Just one little spot on my incision, but it went away fast . I am LOVING my results so far. I know there is still a lot of swelling g, but even despite that I am thrilled!!! Good luck to you! You'll do great!!!! [emoji1]

I saw this on the Today show and they called it an accordion procedure. Not sure I'd be comfortable with this procedure. How do food particles not get stuck in the folds or suture line?

I am loving yoga now. I do some sort of walking/jogging, yoga, and/or interval training each week and actually enjoying it. Last summer I struggled thru some hiking on vacation. This year I'm actually looking forward to it. Life is good. Love the kitty litter idea.... very resourceful.

I actually do a 5 mi walk in the AM and weights at the gym after work. But REI just opened near me. I plan to hike part of the Apalacian Trail later this Year. So, I figure incorporating weights with walking are good training.

Also, the more muscle, the faster the fat burn

Soon that 25 lbs will be nothing. Good for you hon. I prefer to weight lift to maintain my muscle, just as soon as I'm cleared. Keep at it!
