ladygg1967 reacted to JessLess in What do you eat in a day to get 70-80 G Protein
I go over almost every day.
Breakfast: Scrambled egg + Lox, Three prunes, coffee with milk
Lunch: Healthy Choice Power Bowl, one of the chicken ones
Dinner: Homemade chicken Soup w/ veggies
Snacks: Built Bar, 1/4 cup of cashews
That put me around 100 grams. If I start every meal with Protein, I go over most of the time.

since it's been three months, you're in maintenance. The only way to start losing again is to cut calories or beef up your exercise. And just so you know, those last 30 lbs or so can be a BEAR to lose. I think I lost only about a pound or two a month at the end - I thought I'd NEVER get there!

P.S. if you're no longer logging your food intake, I'd start there so you know how many calories you're averaging NOW. You have to do it over several days or even a week or two since it can vary from day to day. Once you know your average, then cut about 100 out a day. If a couple of weeks go by and nothing happens, cut 100 more. Eventually you'll find your sweet spot and start losing again. Alternatively, you could do enough exercise (and not change your eating) to create the same deficit. Or you could do both...

Yeah lol wishful thinking. Tbh I’m not looking to be “skinny” which is what I’d be if I reached the ideal weight for my height. I like being “thick and curvy” just healthier with less belly lol I’m 100lbs give or take from achieving that look.

I've resisted the urge to eat potato chips (my weakness). I haven't bought any. I've stopped the bad white carbs, etc.
So it's been meat--burgers with lettuce, Tomato, onion; eggs; salmon (tired of that, but...). I just marinated some ribs (isn't hi-protein great!!?) and will cook them tomorrow. If I get an Egg McMuffin, I pull the bread away.
I've added vinegar to my Water (that helps me lost weight); for Snacks, I've had almonds, or maybe some pineapple or blueberries.
A friend made a salmon crepe/omelette; she made a few revisions, and it was delicious. It looks doable for us wls folk. I'm going to try that next week. If it turns out well, I'll share the name of the dish, or the recipe itself.
So basically, no starchy carbs, etc.; and I'm TRYING to not rush my food; trying to slow it down.

I'm also having some regain and really upset about it AND I know better because I was given the information! That's totally on me but now I need to get back on track.
Someone mentioned the Intermittent Fasting. I'm not really sure about that one but only because I don't know enough about it. There is also the 5 Day Pouch Test to sort of reset. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/days1_2.html
Note that it is meant for only 5 days.
Then get back to basics though it sounds like you don't have the basics.
Let me see if I remember them.
    Drink a LOT of Water.
Stop drinking 30 minutes before your meal.
Don't drink anything during your meal.
Start drinking water 30 minutes AFTER your meal.
Your meal should be about 30 minutes. Not longer. Take your time.
Strive for 70-100 grams of Protein per day (1 oz of meat - 7 grams of protein if I remember correctly). I can't seem to open my file right now but there is also a standard for grams of Fat and grams of Carbs per day. I'll repost when I can get to it.
ALWAYS eat protein first. Lean protein is best.
When you eat, cut your food into pea-size bites and chew chew chew.
Put your utensils down between bites.
    Breathe.
    Exercise.

Those are the things i can think of for now.
Best of luck and I hope to join you on trying to get it all back!

I am different. I am not ashamed of what i have done. After all we are still putting in the hard work. It isnt easy doing this. This is not the easy way out. In my office.. Most know what i have decided to do. For one, i work in a small office and we are like family. For two.. if something happens to me during work ( like it did the other day when i couldnt tolerate chicken... ( had my head over the trash can for hour and a half) How else are they going to know if i need help with something. My co workers are very supportive of my decision. When they order food out, they are very considerate of what i can and cannot eat, and accomodate to what i can do. The person who order supplies, specifically orders Decaf coffee for me to keep at my desk so nobody drinks it all and i am left without. I consider my co workers a part of my support group. When i was on liquids they would ask.. what can you have here are our options.. etc.
Now if you want to keep it private, that is also fine.. we all have our reasons.. for one.. ppl in the office are going to notice the changes in your eating habits, etc. You may want to bring up something like Orchids said.. you are investing in you for the new year and decided to start early.. You want to make sure your decision works for you so you are doing it under doctors care and supervision. I would rather my office work with me than against me. After all, we are at work more than we are at home.

I have a slightly different take on issues like this at work. I'd bet a lot of people don't quite agree with me. It is inappropriate to discuss coworkers' bodies. Seriously. If it were me, I'd talk to them, say you overheard them, and tell them that it just is not OK to talk about another coworker's body - no matter what the context. Also remind them that pretty much no place in an office is private and they should never think they can't be overheard. At my job, we had a successful claim of harassment because someone overheard a coworker talking about her body. Not in a sexual way, but bodies at work should be off limit.

I would confront them. Tell them to talk to your face, not behind your back. Tell them what your new diet consists of if they want to hear. High Protein low carb and moderate exercise under a doctors supervision. Most of the time they won't want to hear your story, they just wanted to gossip.

Hello fellow sleevers. I have been on this site very little in the past couple of years but have logged in today to respond to a question. Since I'm here, I feel obligated to tell you all the things I've learned after 5 years.
    1. The people that told me my approach to living life with the sleeve was all wrong and that I would fail, gain weight in a few years, stretch my sleeve, and regret my actions are mostly gone now. I have seen a couple of them around but the most are long gone. Do not pay much attention to the know-it-alls. They know no more than anyone else and are just as likely to fail.
    2. Obviously you want to follow your Dr's instructions but don't get too hung up on strict rules and diets. If you make reasonable decisions and balance your good and bad food choices, your sleeve will do most of the work for you. I have eaten anything I wanted since day one. I try to pay attention to Protein etc., but I do not deny myself anything. You have the sleeve for a reason. Let it do it's job. Don't force it to hold more than it can and do not deny yourself the things that make you happy. Balance - just do it.
    3. WLS is much more than losing weight. It is getting to the bottom of the issues that cause us to compensate with food in the first place. Pay more attention to your mental well being than the numbers on the scale. Your long term success depends on it.
    4. Know that even after you reach your goal weight you will still be the same person with the same insecurities. Being thin changes nothing. If you did it for health reasons then hopefully those will no longer be an issue, but the person you are and how you feel inside doesn't change from losing weight. That has to change on the inside. No way around it.
    5. Know that once you have made the necessary changes inside and out there will be some people that don't relate to you the same or just plain don't like you anymore. Also know that what they think is completely irrelevant . Physical and mental changes for the better intimidate those with small minds. Don't give them a second thought.
    Thanks for reading.

A great game plan is to get at least 8 oz before starting your day. I have to be to work at 6 am. I live in NYC so I have to be up way earlier than necessary.
I wake up early and drink an 8 oz cup while getting ready for work. As I am traveling to work, I have a 20 oz bottle (I usually try to drink half in the hour it takes me to get to work). Then I spend the first hour finishing my 20 oz. I will eat something small, like boiled egg whites. 30 minutes later, I am drinking 10 oz.
Halfway through my work day, I am 38 oz.
Then I spend the remainder, getting a 10 oz cup of tea and 10 oz cold Water. I drink the tea first. Then I drink the water (warmer temperatures go down easier for me).
I drink my 20 oz bottle on the way home or at the gym. After that, it is drinking when I feel thirsty.
This is what I do. When I work the night shift, it is the same just the times change.

I've been fat my whole life so this is new to me. The fact that i'm actually a small still blows my mind, but yet the scale still says im overweight smh. I'm still going to view this as a victory.

It's because its my business. It's private. I'm not the one that puts every little thing on Facebook either. I've had other medical surgical procedures done and never broadcasted it. My Husband, kids , mom and sister know.. thats my support . No one else needs to gossip. Telling others puts a giant magnifying glass on everything I do and Im not one for the spotlight.

I'm one of the people who got angry when others found out. I'm not ashamed of having the procedure at all, but I feel it's a personal matter. I'm a very private person and like to keep things private. I don't announce that I'm having a pap smear or mammogram. I don't think it's anyone's business. Also I don't care to have anyone's opinion on what I do. I know myself. I would have hurt anyone's feelings for giving me advice on what I should have and could have done.

    Hi All,
Nice to meet you, I'm Wika, 28 y.o!
It is probably uncommon for asian, especially in my country to do VSG. I have always been heavy since I was a kid and bullied because of it (mainly from elementary to high school). My self esteem was so low that I could not even love myself. Last year I have finally decided and told my parents to get the surgery done no matter what. I hate not being able to love myself and the social pressure around me was so high. I gotta admit that the reason I did my surgery is 80% because I don't want to be called fat anymore by my peers (and family), because it hurt me. My parents allowed the surgery and paid for it (phew! glad!) and it is probably the best decision ever in my life.
I feel healthier and lighter. I no longer lose my breath when I walk down the street, I feel energetic more than ever and it definitely boosts my confidence! I feel better, happier, and healthier. I start to open myself to other people, getting to know them (and go on several dates hahaha) unlike before. I love sports more than ever and in fact I spent most of my free time at the gym now. My original weight was 97,5kg and before the surgery it was 95,5kg, now I am between 60-61kg. I am 168cm, originally size 20 for tops and bottoms, now I am size 8 (and it is still considered big in Asia).
I still want to go down a bit more, till I am 55kg, but it's a little hard to hit that weight (due to snacking hahaha). Nonetheless, I am a happier me now and I can call it a success!! Regardless the reasons for VSG, it is important for you to be a better you and remember that VSG is only a tool, not the solution.

I can tolerate a very small amount of all three. Rice & bread have a tendency to swell in your stomach, though, so eating a lot of them can make me sick; if I eat more than a tablespoon or two of rice I can feel it starting to rise up, and it's really unpleasant. A great way to control cravings.

I definitely eat all three now and then, but only as a "treat" and a special occasion thing. None really have Protein, so they don't have a lot of what I need to keep myself going. Focus on that protein first!

I'm 2.5 years out and can tolerate bread, rice and Pasta wonderfully.
In fact, I can tolerate the aforementioned foods too wonderfully...in the context of being able to eat nearly unlimited quantities of bread, rice and pasta without ever feeling full.
Starches spell WEIGHT REGAIN for the majority of sleeve and bypass patients, so just because we can eat them doesn't necessarily mean we should.
    Good luck to you.
