She must have been a real winner to tick you off so bad. I have found all of your posts to be lighthearted and funny.
She has no business giving out medical advice based on what she hears being said to most patients... what if you had co-morbidities like kidney, liver or heart issues? I agree that you should tell the NP and maybe the surgeon too. She is a liability risk to their practice.

All liquids count towards your minimum, including Protein shakes.
I like hot tea, iced tea, herbal tea, Water with lemon, starbucks passion tea without any sweetener (it is tart).

2ndSpring got a reaction from 2Tuffproc in Not telling anyone. What do you say?
I had my surgery on a Wednesday. I was off Thurs & Fri and then all of the following week. By then, I didn't have much pain and I was doing pretty well with liquids and Protein. The first 7 calendar days were really tough for me, but then all of sudden it got easier and easier each day after that.
I've only told my daughter, son-in-law and parents. I'm a really bad liar so I'm going to stay as close to the truth as I can...... very low carb, high Protein and Portion Control. all of which is true.

2ndSpring got a reaction from Flora Anderson in Pet peeve: extra skin.
It seems everyone has interpreted the original post differently. My take on it was that she wasn't ranting about people asking questions about excess skin or researching the issue - she was talking about people who are contemplating losing weight and using excess skin as a reason to stay overweight and not take any action. I have seen a lot of those posts too and they make me sad because that person is not ready to make changes yet.
I love that this community is so brutally honest. I am clearly a food addict and a dose of reality (or a swift kick in the pants) is oftentimes sorely needed. Those messages can be a bitter dose to swallow and hard to hear sometimes, but I really want to succeed this time and I want to be called out when I am rationalizing.

I prefer to use net carbs since my goal is just to stay low-carb for weight loss and appetite suppression. People with other goals may have different tracking needs.

2ndSpring got a reaction from laceemouse in Please tell me day 4 is better then day 2!
That first week was really rough. Everything hurts, your insides are still swollen and tender so you can't drink your liquids, it is hard to bend over or reach, and it hurts to sit up or roll over in bed. I promise that it gets better a little every day. Day 7 for me was a huge turning point where all of a sudden, I just felt better.
Focus on your liquids for now and take your pain meds, they will let you walk around which helps the healing process.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll be feeling better in a few days.

P.s. There is a lot of sensitivity in this thread lol. Getting support isn't always about getting a pat on the back. There are many other ways to show support that quite frankly different types of folks receive much better then getting coddled. You are going to see a bit of everything in a support group because different people need different things. Take what you need and leave the rest.

I too took it as someone venting on the fact people do use the fear of excess skin as an excuse to not get healthy. As far as plastic surgery goes I don't feel that's vanity following up on several other posts. I'm a strong believer in doing what makes you feel beautiful, if you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and are excited to see who you are and are able to remember where you came from- that is liberation. I believe we are all worthy of that feeling of freedom.
