Your story sounds a lot like mine☺ I am 34. I am at 271 and I'm always told the same thing.....you don't look that heavy! I have been up and down weightwise as well. I have a 6 yrxt old, but no more little ones are in my future. I'm one and done lol. I also have PCOS. I had my 1st appt about a month ago and I have seen the nutritionist and I'm going back in another month. I am getting my psychological consult done tomorrow as well as my TSG test. I am nervous as well bexuawcit seems like everything is flowing so smoothly so far...I'm afraid something is going to go wrong and I won't get a final approval for surgery. It's good to know there's another mama out there with my same thoughts and concerns.

Good Lord people! At two months out, I had lost 27 lbs. I started at almost 400 lbs. I have lost over 200 lbs and am currently at a normal BMI. You folks are average if not above. 37 lbs in two months is *not* slow. People lose at all different rates for all different reasons (age, gender, starting BMI, metabolism rate, amount of muscle mass they have, whether or not they lost a lot of weight pre-surgery, etc). Yes, there are a few who drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are the exception, not the rule. Most seem to lose in the 15-25 lb range the first month, and then around 10-12 lbs a month for awhile, and then it drops from there (if you start out as a "lightweight", you'll lose even slower). You need to adjust your expectations. If you stick to your program, the weight *will* come off!

all of us are different. I can remember comparing myself and my weight loss to others in my group and always feeling I was not enough. I finally figured out that I was just a slow loser. some folks lose fast and I must admit I resented that for a time. however. my sponsor reminded me of the story of the turtle and the rabbit. the slow turtle did win and so will you. if you are doing what they tell you to do you are all right. remember that if you had not had the surgery you would probably be up to 375. just do the next right thing and it will work out for you. we are here when you need to talk

That kind of criticism is often misdirected anger toward things the criticizer doesn't like in themselves. She sees her overweight self in you and likely never learned to love or like herself regardless of her size. Since she's no longer heavy that anger gets directed at you and others who are heavy, which is absolutely not fair.
In your mind imagine handing that criticism back to her saying, "Here, I think you meant to give this to yourself..."
The fact that you recognize what she's doing isn't kind and that you don't want to be like that tells me you're an empathetic person. I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Pre-op diet has 2 purposes. One is to shrink the liver and the greater majority of overweight people have fatty livers. Second, it is to prepare u for post-op life.

scootysmama reacted to Nikosmama06 in For the Newbies or those considering the sleeve
Hi everyone! I remember looking all throughout these threads prior to my surgery. I kept searching and searching the threads trying to convince myself I was doing the right thing. I read all the wonderful success stories and the horror stories, in the hopes that I would be able to gear myself up for what was to come. I was sleeved on 9/13/16. Now I want to share my three month update and experience with you. First, here are my stats:
    Starting Weight: 296
    Day of surgery Weight: 280
    CW:215
This has been the best decision I have ever made for myself! I have tons of energy, and am truly enjoying this new lifestyle change that I have embraced. I will say that after surgery your body completely changes. For example, 7 years ago I was 200 lbs and a size 14. The minute I hit 210 I became a size 16. Now, after surgery, I am 215 and wear a size 14 again. It's crazy. My husband swears I am thinner than I ever have been since he's known me, even though the scale doesn't match his assertion. Maybe it's the muscle I've built and the excess skin that has added to the scale( yes, I have excess skin). I don't know. But I do know that I feel fabulous. Prior to surgery, I took a "worst case scenario" approach regarding what to expect after surgery. Luckily, I wound up with the best case scenario! I haven't lost any hair, I never regretted my surgery and I only suffered from bad cravings for the first two weeks. I credit a lot of this to my nutritionist from Dr. Tom Umbach's office in LV. She has an unconventional approach. I was allowed to eat after two weeks. I was instructed to count carbs and Protein, not calories. She also insisted that I don't bother measuring my food. This advice was life saving for me, as I experienced physical hunger after two weeks and I could eat more than most of the posters on here (about 1/2 cup). I was afraid that something was wrong with my sleeve, but my nutritionist assured me not to worry. I kept doing what she advised and the weight keeps falling off. I also noticed that, for some reason, as the months went by, I developed more restriction that what I originally had after surgery. Some days I have more restriction, some days less. Although I eat less food, I actually eat more times in the day than I ever have before (about 6 times). The difference is that eat much healthier foods. I actually crave them. Every now and then I get a naughty craving. I'm a CA girl and I love Mexican food. I don't always deny myself the craving. Sometimes I indulge and get 1 rico taco and take off the extra corn tortilla. I have gotten cravings for Chinese, but considering that is all carbs and sugar I usually have a pickle to curb those cravings. I've found sour foods do the trick when it comes to craving starch. Don't get me wrong, there have been a time or two that I've had a few spoonfuls of rice or noodles from Panda Express, but they're never as good as I imagine and I don't want to risk temptation with going to better Chinese restaurants to try theirs.
Bottom line, this surgery worked for me because I eventually came to accept that some foods (starchy carbs) are not every day foods. And other carbs, while good and sometimes necessary, should be limited and always accompanied by protein. Every day I am faced with the choice of eating foods to promote health or foods to promote obesity. I understand that these are choices I must make make everyday, at every meal for the rest of my life in order to prevent the weight returning. This surgery allowed me to come to a place where I actually am capable of making the right choices and am confident that I can continue to do so. I must remember that even though I couldn't have done this without the surgery, the surgery will do no good if I don't continue to keep my head in line with healthy eating habits.

Well, as with reviews, the happiest people usually forget to post because they're are busy having fun. The dissatisfied customers on the other hand, fell the strong urge to voice their greviances when presented with platforms to do so.
Gastric sleeve is a major surgery. A few people go in with the mindset that it is a tonsillectomy.
Your body and mind will need time to adjust to the massive changes. By the time you realise it was worth it, you may also be too busy having fun.. ☺
All the best with your surgery

    I got my surgery!
    I am excited!
I am dealing with the gas from when they fill your stomach but other than that the pain pills help.
I am up and moving around.
I have had cottage cheese, applesauce, Popsicles and broth and it's filling me up .
I'm struggling with my Water intake.
I took my Flintstones and going to take my Calcium chewable my doctor gave me.
I ordered a scale for the first time in my life. I need to track my progress.
    I am down 15 pounds!
I am excited but I know I won't publicly document every weight loss so as not to get discouraged.
I am still excited and hopeful!
I will keep you all posted on my life after the sleeve!

I highly recommend the Mirena IUD. It is awesome! It can be removed at any time if you wish to become pregnant, but it's good for 5 years. I will never use anything else.

I sadly don't think so. I mean, every program is different. But if you were on a liquid only diet, I would definitely say no to the turkey bacon and eggs. My surgery is Monday too! So close!

i did it for 2 weeks. hardest thing i ever did. didnt even cheat although i was convinced I would. showed me how much i wanted surgery and that i was willing to do anything to get it. i felt dizzy day 1-3 but i promise it gets easier after day 4. Drink loads of Water stay hydrated. after day 4 your so into it. try and stay focused because if you can't do the pre op diet then you will find it even harder after surgery.

I got antibacterial wipes for surgery prep, reminders about the diet and they asked about my post-surgery liquid diet preparations and gave me Protein samples. They also double- checked my Vitamins.
