I was sleeved on the 26th, starting weight 280, op day weight 222, goal weight 150, current weight 145. I'm a sous chef at a marina and I sweat all day long in an 80-90 degree kitchen, I am moving [all day long] in a two story building. I drink more than the minimum amount of Water needed (because I am sweating, I need to replace that). I put inventory up, (yes up a set of stairs, we call it "leg day"... we have 3 of them a week minimum) and this is just things off the top of my head as to what I do in a day's work. Oh and 12 hour days, 5-6 days a week sometimes 7 if someone calls out. I bring greek yogurt, Protein bars, I make sure to hit my Protein count etc.
I've cut my hair, gotten a new tattoo (already had a few), and have to make an effort to not shop for myself now that I'm in my dream size.
I did everything the way my doctors program laid out for me and I reached the goal they set for me. I'm extremely happy with the decision to have this surgery and I am never looking back!!!!

Hey guys! My name is savanna, I had my surgery on October 10th. Honestly the first week was super rough and I ended up getting c diff (infection in the intestines) which made me super sick. I dealt with quite a bit of nausea until about 3 days ago it seemed to have subsided. I began realizing that hot foods/drinks work better for my sleeve. It seems like every time I drink or eat something cold the nausea comes back. However it's only been 3 weeks for me today and I am down 31 pounds. I am beyond excited to see what the future holds for me and all of you!!

Excuse me.....I'm not harping on anyone. I was simply stating that the approval system is a bit twisted. I am completely happy that my cousin is getting the surgery as she needs it for her health. You want to be negative or *ship* anyone who decides to post negativity then hop off my post. I made a statement about MY insurance. Did I say Medicaid recipients shouldn't get the surgery? No. take a step back. Thanks Furthermore, if you are one of those Medicaid recipients then I apologize if I offended you. I'm the last to judge.

My cousin is on government assistance. She has Medicaid and it took her 2 months from her first visit to surgery date! This frustrated me because I battled my insurance company for a damn year! Insurance that I pay $200 a month for and have paid them for 10 years and rarely used! I am all about everyone being allowed to get healthy but why is it so hard for us to get approved and others get it, no questions asked, FOR FREE? Sorry, just venting. I've had my surgery and all is well. But I will not soon forget all of the ups and downs of going through my insurance.

Constipation, menstruation, ovulation too much salt... if you are one your plan you didn't actually gain FAT.
I would go out of my mind if I weighed myself every day but just to make sure my husband moved the scale to our kids bathroom (all boys) . It's a level one biohazard, I only go in there to drop off grooming supplies and TP on the counter and take a deep breath first.
If you don't happen to have a level one biohazard area in your house consider giving your scale to goodwill or at least locking it into the trunk of your car.

Co workers suggesting better eating habits for me as if they were my mate. I've learned to avoid shopping with friends and family because I hate what I look like in dressing room mirrors. I'm ready to live and stop living in a shell like a turtle.

I think one of the hardest things about a stall, as I'm in one right now, is before my sleeve, this is typically when I would have thrown my hands up, and gone back to my old habits. If I'm not seeing progress, what's the point? I know that things have changed for me and I have to continue following the plan in order for the sleeve to work, but it is still frustrating, especially when the number on the scale increases.

I am flabbergasted too! I guess there are a lot of people still looking for a way to magically lose weight. With a true desire to change our lives for the better, it is easier to stay on plan even in social settings. I went to dinner at a friends home last week and she served homemade lasagna and plated the food. So when we were called to the table and I saw my plate, my mind immediately thought what do I do with this huge serving of yummy lasagna! Well, I sat down, added salad to my plate, passed on the garlic bread and began to eat the meat and cheese layered between the Pasta. Not one person noticed or cared because the conversation was flowing. The hostess knew I had had surgery but didn't want me to feel any different and made my plate the same as the others. I found a way to make it work for me and that is something everyone can do. Just like you at the cocktail party.

Today marks one year since I had my sleeve done. This year has really just gone by so quickly and my life has changed so much in the last year. A year ago today I was 319 lbs and wearing a size 26/28 in pants. I didn't have any real medical issues yet but I knew it was just a matter of time before they would start. I was getting to be on the border of high blood pressure and I knew that I would also likely end up diabetic within a few years if things didn't change. My joints were hurting all the time and my back would spasm with pain. I had thought about having surgery for a long time but prior insurance wouldn't cover it and I had no way to pay out of pocket for it. I changed jobs a few years ago and found that it would be covered finally. I saw my surgeon for the first time in July of 2015 and was sleeved September 28th, 2015.
In this year I have lost 157lbs and as of this morning weigh 162lbs and wear a size 10/12!!!! I have had many other changes and challenges this year that have tried to sabotage my success but through it all I have had to keep reminding myself that I have to do this for me and that I have to keep doing what I know is right and will carry me through and keep me healthy.
    My stats are as follows:
    Heaviest weight ever: 376lbs
    Surgery weight: 319lbs
    Current weight: 162lbs

I am 7 months out and I can drink a couple of beers or a few glasses of wine on the occasion. I am not even close to what I used to drink before. I did not have an alcohol addiction, but could handle pretty well ( since the weight helps a lot).
I can stay without alcohol but I enjoy a drink from time to time.
Something funny I noticed is that I am not getting drunk anymore.
When I have too much, I basically fall asleep and I wake up without a hangover, which is a huge benefit. So for me, the sleeve even works there.
And I still track the carbs of what I drink / eat. So if I had too much, on the next day a 5k is mandatory, no matter what.

Hell. I may have 3-4 if they win.
Alcohol causes a quick buzz, and it's gone within 20 min.
No other effects. I'm 7 mos post op.
Had my first drink around 5.5-6 mos. one a week maybe?
During this WS ru. Being out, have had several others a week lol

My best piece of advice is to make as many changes as you can as soon as you can, and work to get new habits and thought processes into place right away. Do NOT wait until your surgery to be 'reborn'.
As I've seen stated over and over in these forums, it's stomach surgery, not brain surgery. Changing your brain takes time, and the time to do it is NOT immediately post-op when you're fragile and healing. If head hunger and long formed habits are going to lead you to make poor choices (as they very often do...it happens), you want to learn to navigate them pre-op when you can afford to make mistakes, not post-op when you can really do some damage.
