  1. Today marks three weeks since my surgery and I am down 40 pounds from my heaviest weight before surgery. I feel great! I haven't had any problems whatsoever. Looking forward to next week when I can start adding back foods. The soft foods stage is kinda limiting just like the liquid stage. There is only so much you can have. I have found a few new recipes that I want to try so I'll have something special for Christmas while everyone else gets to eat good stuff. Pinterest has been a big help with new recipes and stuff I want to try when I can add chicken and hamburger back to my diet. Feels good to be on the losers bench and being successful. Today is my big day!

Thanks all the prayers!!! They definitely worked. Most patients have to stay a minimum of 2 nights in the hospital and I only had to stay one night. I got to come home yesterday because I was doing so well. I haven't had a lot of complications or issues that others have mentioned. Today was one of the days were the nausea from the anesthesia hit me and even it wasn't that bad. I actually feel better since I got sick. How crazy is that! I was able to get out of the house today and go walk around. I think I still need 15 minutes to get to the 60 minutes of daily walking that they recommend. And it has been a little harder to get the Protein and Water in since we can't guzzle it down like before. But that is to be expected and will only get better with time. 5. Thanksgiving has passed by without weight gain and now on to surgery Wednesday! I was so afraid that I would eat way too much during thanksgiving and gain the weight back and my surgery would be cancelled. But that didn't happen thank goodness!!! Wednesday is my big day and can't wait to join the losers bench. All prayers for surgery and recovery are welcome!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. So this is starting to feel really real for me. I go tomorrow to see the surgeon for my surgery orders and to the hospital for the pre-op stuff and payment. It's hard to believe that I just started this process on August 4 and my surgery date is less than two weeks away. Can't wait to join the losers bench. All thoughts and prayers appreciated!!! 9. My surgeon highly recommends 4 - 6 weeks so I'm going to be out at least 4 weeks. My job isn't demanding either but I have a long commute. He says that with the dietary changes I will be weak and tired and not feel like doing much the first couple of weeks. I can at least work from home if I feel up to it so that is a bonus. Pre-op Appointment Tomorrow!

I'm actually quite calm considering surgery is a week from tomorrow. Maybe it's because I have so much that needs to be done before that I'm trying to take care of that I just don't have too much time to think about it. But I'm very excited! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How did WLS effect your marriage...

My now ex-husband had gastric bypass October 2007 and we were separated by August 2008 because he was cheating on me. It really depends on you and your spouse. You can't take my experience and others as what will happen to you. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Do you have a physically demanding job? Just wondering because my surgery is November 30 and just wondering what I may need to ask for. My job isn't very demanding but I am concerned about the 50 minute commute and feeling tired or sore. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No I don't I pretty much sit behind a desk all day. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App Same here. Did you doctor make you take four weeks? Did you have any complications that caused you to be out that long? I go for my preop appointment with my surgeon on Friday so hopefully I will know how long I will be out then. I have my fmla paperwork ready for them to fill out for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No I wanted the 4 weeks needed a little break from work I could have went back in two weeks but had no energy. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App That's what I'm afraid of. Being tired and having no energy. That's not good when you have a long commute either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App If you can I would take the time off I feel great now back at work I have b12 that I take once a week. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App I may try to do that. Thanks for the advice! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. I'm hoping to just be out 2 weeks but am worried about driving and the long commute. I do have the option of working from home if I feel up to it so that would help me to not use all of my sick and vacation time. But I will do what my doctor says to do because he knows best and I don't want any complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    First Consultation

I have BCBS of NC. I only had to do the one nutrition evaluation and two years of weight history with my record of weight loss attempts. I didn't have to do the doctor supervised diet because I already attempted that previously. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    First Consultation

Good luck with your consult. My experience seemed to go by so fast even though the dates for everything seemed so far away at the time. I went to the required info session on August 4th, consult appointment was September 9th, had clearance appt with primary doctor and psych eval somewhere in there, and my last appointment was with the nutrition on October 3rd. They submitted everything to insurance on October 6th and I was approved on October 11th. And now surgery is scheduled for November 30th. It seems far away too but will be here before I know it. Wanting to know

I am doing it because I am starting to have some of the same health problems that my mother began to have when she was my age and over weight. Joint problems and back problems that she did nothing about and now she can't stand up straight and can barely walk. I don't want to be like her. I want to be able to continue to do stuff with my son and be able to do stuff with my grandchildren when he has kids one day. My mom is retired and basically sits around on the couch all day because that is all she can do. I don't want to be like that in 20 years. I want to be able to enjoy retirement one day. This is my primary motivation for having surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  25. Does anyone take the Barimelt Vitamins? They melt in your mouth and are absorbed instead of being dissolved and absorbed in your stomach and intestines. Has anyone's nutritionist recommended them or said stay away from them? I'm trying to research my best options and get stuff purchased before my surgery date. Thanks in advance for any input!
