I suspect that it is because aspirin and NSAIDs are a very big NO-NO with the bypass, due to specific problems with that anatomy that don't apply to the sleeve, but most bariatric surgeons are still feeling their way around the sleeve after years of bypass experience - an abundance of caution on their part until their experience catches up. Surgeons who have been doing the DS (sleeve with intestinal rerouting) as their preferred procedure, such as the OP's surgeon, usually have more sleeve specific experience under their belts and tend to have a better understanding of the tolerance differences between the different procedures. One of the long held selling points of the DS over the bypass is its' NSAID tolerance. I was told to use ibuprofin or naproxin of any post surgical pain once the narcotic pain relievers were no longer appropriate (not that I needed any.)
That said, they are still serious medications with significant potential side effects even for normal people, and consistent use of them should be done under medical supervision even if they are an OTC product (there are potential liver and kidney issues with them.)
In the OP's case where this is prescribed, presumably by the surgeon, if the script has refills specified on it, that would be tacit approval to continue its use, but it would be good to double check with his staff on Monday.

Oh, hell, @@Diva Taunia, okay, I'll be your friend, too. Whatever possessed you to click on me earlier, whether deliberate or at random, be advised that an in-person friend says that I'm an acquired taste. I disagree. You didn't pick the best day. I didn't have coffee or Breakfast until 4 p.m. only because I kept distracting myself with this 'n that. Now I'm thrown off as to lunch and dinner. As someone who mostly pre-plans meals, though always subject to change, I get a little crabby if I have to rewire my brain for the rest of the day. Maybe I'll take a page from @@Djmohr and crack open a bottle of wine or something.
    Anyway, Howdy to you.

My husband had gastric bypass couldn't hold anything down. Of course a stubborn man so wouldn't make a drs appt. finally I won the battle to go to doc and found out he had already formed a large amount of scar tissue, surgery and then 2. Months later back in surgery again. That was a year ago. He is doing better now, thank goodness. Here's the real bad part. He was at work with his office door closed, he explained to me it felt like it did before the other 2 surgeries to fix his issue. He passed out in his office. We have no idea how long he was unconscious but I'll cut it short. Extremely dehydrated and had zero potassium in his body. They said that if he didn't come in when he did to the ER he could have passed away. It took him being admitted and 4 days of IV to get his potassium back up to normal levels... it won't hurt to get checked out... go now

When something is really wrong, it is normal to get a feeling of impending doom. It's your body telling you to seek help. So I suggest you go to urgent care. If your doc is just saying it will get better and not telling you to come in, id question him as a doc for sure! Are you urinating regularly? If not, that is the first sign of dehydration and that can result in danger if not addressed.
Poor nutrition, in extreme cases can result in potassium deficiency which makes you at high risk for cardiac arrest. Also, there are many Vitamins that your body needs to function and if you aren't getting them, it needs to be addressed immediately.
I am no doctor but I am a nurse and have been for years. So please take this advise and get checked out. Best wishes.

Unfortunately everyone is different. Do you still have nausea meds? Try taking those before you try and drink or eat
I have days I'm good and others that I am struggling like you. I was sleeved 19th of September. If you feel that you are in serious trouble go to the ER, get pumped with fluids. Look for unstable gait, blurred vision, hallucinations, chills, sweats joint pains big muscle aches confusion those could mean bad dehydration or possible infection. I'm not a doctor but this is what I was told. It will get better but don't try to carry on if it is bad.

Oh well since ur surgeon gave them to you, there must be a reason likely to keep your blood thin to prevent blood clots if there are regular on the script, then u should fill them. Especially if you are at risk for clots.

Now you know for sure that having a bite or two doesn't work for you, at least not with donuts. Probably other things too. Knowing this will help keep you on track. And, let the guilt go. Most of us have experienced way too much self shaming and guilt in our lives that we can change that too.
You have a whole new beginning.

I'm sort-of, kinda new to Bariatric Pal and I have practically no friends on here. Wanna be friends? I haven't been on/in forums for a while, so I'm out of the loop on adding new friends, but please friend me if you'd like to keep in touch and stuff on here. Also, so I don't feel like the loser kid in the corner scuffing my feet (oh, hi, middle school!).

OMG I'm 5 weeks post op and IM ALWAYS HUNGRY!!! If I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and I don't go to sleep right away I can't sleep because of the hunger pain!!!! I asked my surgeon and he said it was normal and better for my metabolism to eat every 2 hours. The most annoying part is that I have to pack a lunch pack every where I go. And the hunger pains are magnified 10 fold!

Make sure you don't need new batteries... weigh in the mornings after going to the bathroom. Without clothes. Stay consistent with that pattern. I know you shouldn't weigh EVERY DAY but for some of us its hard. I often weigh myself at night and usually notice like a 1-2 lb difference from the morning weight. Also I will usually step on the scale at least twice to make sure the numbers are consistent. If you find that its different each time it may be time to get a new scale.
