You do realize this happens to everyone right?? That’s what you signed up for- it’s restriction.

Just keep doing you and focus on your progress. The pitty party thing won’t help you in the long run so don’t worry about what naturally thin people get to do, it doesn’t matter. They don’t think about food like that. Just keep on pushing through and things will get easier as you continue to adjust. Focus more on how far you’ve come in your journey as a whole.

Unfortunately, the surgery cost itself i can’t advise on, but i would consider reaching out to your hospital directly. They may have some financial aid available to you, that you may not know about yet. Good luck.

Wait, you realize this makes zero sense right? You can easily afford the food- you will barely be eating lol so groceries will stretch.
Plus if you stick to basics (chicken, veggies, eggs, greek yogurt etc) it’s not expensive at all, you just have to know where to shop.

You may even be spending more of food now if you eat out often and also portion. Remember you will be unprocessing your diet so it gets cheaper.

I find cheap meats at target and costco (costco literally lasts forever and chicken drumsticks are only $7 for a pack of 30) if cooking isn’t for you, you can do rotissierie chicken etc which is also affordable.

I will say Protein Shakes and Vitamins might add up but there are ways around that too. And also once you get further out, you may not even need shakes like that. Oh and Water is dirt cheap.

Overall i eat really really well, but i definitely had some caramel m&m’s a few days ago because i was craving chocolate and it was amazeballs.

I’ll say this though so it’s clear. Live your life and don’t apologize or feel guilty about it. But at the same time cheats are for occasions, and they tend to work out better for people in the maintenance phase vs still losing phase. If you want to cheat do it, but own it and be accountable so you dont fall off the wagon. It’s easy to do. It’s your journey, have fun with it.

Do what you like so you can stick to it.

    I do the following:
Workout bare minimum 5 days per week
Split my days: leg day 3x per week, back and arms 2 days, core is done every single day and i do mostly weights. When i do cardio it’s only for about 20 minutes.

Sometimes i’ll switch it up and do boxing or T-25 or another at home workout (at home workouts are not my personal preference)

I also rest either in a whirlpool or soak in a bath with scented epsom salt to relax my muscles.

As for supplements: pre-workout, bccaa’s, fish oil and a multi and at least a half gallon of Water or more per day.

If you don’t know where to start, instagram has tons of amazing videos, create a collection and save them as a reference point.

    Good luck everyone!

xoxococojay got a reaction from bigovergrowndork in Breast reduction- did anyone get one after surgery? If so why?
So now that i'm closer to my goal, i'm looking into possibly having some work done so i can feel great about myself.
I'm definitely buying a bigger butt. But i'm debating on whether or not i should get a breast reduction too. I'm not having pains or anything that would require me to get one. And i'm conflicted because i'm glad they're still intact post op. The reason why i'm actually considering it is because of buying clothes, my waist is a small, but my chest is definitely a large, so it makes buying anything with a button or a zipper a challenge. I'm also afraid that if i do get a reduction then my stomach will become more noticeable.
Below are my before and after photos. What do you suggest i do? (Obviously the two photos on the left are my before pics and the jumpsuit is my after)

This isn’t much help, but i literally just put my phone on the ground when lifting and then in the cup holder when i’m doing cardio. I do the wireless headphone thing too.

I bought like an invisible belt that holds my phone too, and it works but it was a waste, i never use it. I also don’t think it comes in all sizes, it’s limited.

Yes there are three tiers. If you plan to go more then 3x a week, unlimited is the best value. However, most people I've talked to start at elite which is cheaper and gives you 8 classes a month, but they don't rollover. Most studios will let you move between tiers pretty easily. My wife also goes, she does the 8 classes a month, but occasionally does an extra or two. In that case she pays the "drop in" rate. I think its $18 dollars per but I'm not sure.

Congrats!!! You’re doing awesome. You might be able to find a buddy to help you workout before doing the trainer route, or even youtube/ instagram videos.

I did the trainer route and found that it was a waste of money. I did learn some stuff but nothing that was truly worth $120 per session. Group fitness classes might even be more enjoyable too. Good luck.

You can still definitely workout. You won’t “over burn” and you’ll be fine. Also, you’re nervous about being exhausted, start with a low impact workout instead like zumba or Water aerobics, barre class etc.

Orange theory is more of a high intensity workout, but you can modify it for your needs.

I had two trouble free surgeries. I think you’ll be just fine but everyone does adjust differently. The first time, i had the sleeve and i was totally fine. Ready to go back to work by day 5. I wouldn’t say i was in much pain or anything. I just felt a lot of gas pressure sitting on my chest. But that naturally went away by walking a ton the first few days. I had bad reflux so they did a revision 2 yrs later and honestly that felt like a nap. Except now i can eat like anyone else who has never had surgery.

You can’t control how much weight you lose. I was fine with being a size 8. I accidentally made it down to a 4 and i’m still constantly losing weight. I’m sure your dr and nutritionist team gave you dietary guidelines or phases to follow. Stick to that and find exercises you like that you can stick to and you’ll literally be just fine. I would say if you’re fortunate enough to not have any complications or other health issues, then your surgery won’t be a big deal. Just remember it is a tool, so it all depends on how you use it. Good luck. I’m sure you will be fine.

Also, fyi- the reason why you don’t see tons of complication free success stories is because we’re to busy enjoying our new lives to post all the time.

It has been mentioned by several posters that if we don't know a person's belief system, it is inappropriate and offensive to offer prayers of support. So, to respect each other's preferences, I'd like to start this thread for people who would like others to pray for them when they're having difficulty. Please add your prayer requests to the thread and we can be supportive to one another. If your request is personal, just ask us to pray for your intentions. We can support you without the details.
    I'll go first
I would appreciate your prayers regarding my messed-up esophagus and severe acid reflux, in the hopes that they can make my insides work without a conversion to bypass. I really don't want another surgery. Thanks!

I know this is a few months late and I'm sure you made a decision already, but I'm a big fan of OTF. Literally changed my life.
The workouts are about 60 minutes, and you are guided through the class by a coach. I started there pre-op at about 310 lbs. 2.5 years later and its my staple workout. I go 3-4 times a week. While the workouts can be intense, you move at your own pace and coaches will provide modifications for anything you struggle with. Can't run? Jog. Can't jog? Walk. It's that easy. When I started I was a "Power walker" meaning any treadmill work was done at 3.5 mph adjusting incline to increase intensity. Now I'm a jogger/runner AND on days my legs aren't feeling it or maybe I overdid it, I power walk again. No shame in power walking. You'll also hear people talk about "splat points" which is just the sum of minutes you got your heart rate over 84% of max during the hour. They tell you to shoot for 12 splats. I've gotten zero and I've gotten 40+. In the beginning, just walking, I'd hit 84% HR just walking into the place.
At max weight I was burning 1000+ calories per class. Now being lighter and fitter (and I think just being a dude) that has gone down. I can burn anywhere from 500 - 800 depending on the workout.
The biggest point of anxiety I hear from people is "I don't want my heart rate up on the screen". Guess what? No one cares. Literally, everyone is busy looking at their own stuff. The zones are based on your heart rate and help you quantify your work.
Now the kicker, its hella expensive when compared to traditional gyms. Pre-op I had a membership to a number of traditional gyms and if I ever actually went, I half-assed the elliptical for 30 and went home. Zero motivation to go, very little financial consequence to not.
For me, and this is just me. I need someone telling me "ok, pick that up, ok put that down, now go over there and do this". I walk in, I do the things and I leave. No guess work, no figuring anything out. Even on days I'm not feeling it or don't give 100% I still feel good knowing I did something.
Given all that, it works for me. For people looking for something, I'd recommend everyone at least try it a couple of times.
    Hope it helps.

I have a few friends who love it. You have a heart rate monitor and during each of the circuits you have a goal and "compete" with the displayed heart rates of everyone else to get in to the right zone. However, like the poster immediately above, I'm a member of a LIfetime Fitness and absolutely love it. I have access to personal training, classes, yoga, Pilates, spin, crossfit style classes, zumba - you name it. Do the trial week on them. If you like it, great. If the first session makes your skin crawl because there are too many people, walk away. You have to find what works for you.
