  1. I was getting non-stop hiccups. I called my surgeon and his team said "You need to remember just how small your stomach is now, you need to use good portion control." I just started crying. lol! I have chronic hiccups, I wasn't eating or drinking anything. I was more worried about hurting my hernia so that is why I called. I then had a melt down. I was like "You just told a fat person who had their stomach removed and who can't drink more than 2 table spoons at a time right now that they are using poor PORTION CONTROL??? Are you kidding me???" I felt so defeated and upset. I tried telling them I have chronic hiccups and that I'm upset the assumption was I'm eating too much and just reprimanding me rather than asking me any questions. Turns out I think it was my Hiatal Hernia that had been repaired. I think in the healing it was giving me non-stop hiccups. I mean, I had them for about 4 days straight. I'd get them in the middle of the night while sleeping, while I was just walking or talking, etc. But yet I was told I wasn't using good portion control. Ugh, that's still a rough one. I was really hurt by that because I'm a "follow the rules to the letter" kind of person and I was journaling each teaspoon I was putting in. When the assistant kept going about portion control I read her my daily diaries and asked "Does it sound to you like I'm using poor portion control?" lol!
  2. I did, quite a bit. In my 4th week I was miserable. Still in pain, unable to get in more than 400 calories a day, feeling like crap, depressed and felt like my life was ruined. That I was going to be one who never found a new normal. That lasted for almost a week. It was very difficult. I cried for 7 days straight. And then I had mashed potatoes. lol! I was listening to every one yelling at me to only eat Protein and don't cheat or be weak and have carbs. But that serving of Mashed Potatoes made me feel NORMAL. Like a real human again. I felt nicely full, I got pink cheeks, I had about 600 calories in that day and my emotions calmed down. I realized...I'd been HUNGRY. I was crying and depressed because I was starving with such limited calories for that long. So I started throwing in some carbs back into my diet. And when I'm feeling down, guess what, I have some mashed potatoes. All the haters can go jump in a lake. lol! It made me feel like a normal human again and allowed me to get over my depression/starvation hump.
  3. I hate that feeling. I can still only do about 2 oz and I'm 2 days into my 6th week post Op. I hate the feeling of hunger. It's almost like nausea or something sitting right at the base of my throat. I'm curious when people started being able to eat 4 oz.
  4. I'd say your biggest concern is coughing and hurting your abdominal incisions but just take it slow. Lots of other pot smokers on this site have told me they started again about where you are, so just take it slow and enjoy!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. how do you guys make like GenPro drinks and stuff?? I have stuff at home but the instructions vary. I hate smoothies/frozen concoctions, the peanut butter stuff was heinous, Premiere tastes so gross to me - the artificial sweetener punches me in the face with every sip. I haven't met my protein goals in 5 days now because I'm so done with all of it. I've been buy and trying one protein mix after another, over $300 worth, with not one thing tasting good. This part is so hard I now think I've made a huge mistake because I'm going to lose all my hair, I'm never meeting my goals, I have to work full time and can't drink non-stop. Everything is so sickeningly sweet, ugh. I'm trying not to lose hope.
  6. I waited 3 weeks. lol! That's all I could last!
  7. I'd check with your surgeons office with regards to numbness like that.
  8. Monitor your temp, take your heart rate, inspect your incision to insure they are healing well. Or go to your doctor here and tell them what happened to your friend and see if they can run a sepsis blood test or something. But your temp and blood pressure will tell a lot.
  9. losing my hair is a massive fear of mine. I take biotin but who knows if it will work. If I loss my hair I will not go out till it grows back. lol!
  10. I had a large hiatal hernia repair and my acid indigestion was really bad. I'm slowly coming out of that stage but talk to your surgeon. I was told to take OTC ant-acids and they helped tremendously. Also, don't drink 30 minutes before bed or eat 4 hours before bed. And sleep with lots of pillows under your head and torso for a while.
  11. I set mine to 130, knowing it's quite possible I won't hit that number till I have excess skin removed. I'm 5' 1" so I'm super short and 130 is the highest "healthy weight" for my height so that's what I used. I understand I could be stuck at 150 or so. My highest weight was 350 a few years ago. 130 might be reaching for the stars but it's a goal I could meet once I loose to a healthy place and then have excess skin removed. I would love to be 110 - 120 but I felt 130 was the better realistic goal.
  12. Can you follow up with your surgeon? At 41 days out you should be able to keep foods down.
  13. I had the sleeve, gallbladder removed and hernia repair. My recovery is taking a while. I was giving liquid Hydrocodone w/acetaminophen (vicodin) and that worked quite well. Liquid Tylenol works as well but only on the minor pains after the big post-surgical pains simmered down.
  14. I'm struggling with hating the feel of my stomach being full. It's emotionally hard. I eat 2 ozs and I feel like it's right up to my esophagus. For the next 3 hours anything I drink feels like it's just sliding around my food Torpedo as I like to call it. I hate the feeling so much and I'm becoming depressed. LIke, it's one thing to deal with all of these side effects and healing, but it's another to always be in discomfort after eating and I fear I will never feel OK again. I cried for almost 24 hours straight from Friday to Saturday because I feel like my life is suppose to get better, not worse. I can't resume my normal life yet, eating is so hard and I feel like maybe I ruined my entire life with this. I'm sure these feelings will pass but the longer it takes for me to feel like a normal human being the more depressed I feel. like reall depression. I can handle the struggles of a modified diet, but the fact that the act of eating is so difficult and takes up my entire day and even then I'm not getting everything in that I need? I'm failing both emotionally and Protein wise. I feel like I now just live to eat and drink and be uncomfortable. I'm getting for reals depressed. I have a call into my surgeon asking about the issues of my sleeve discomfort but I'm sure they will just say this is normal.
  15. Because the point of the pre-op liquid diet is to shrink the size of your liver so as to reduce the risk of injury to your liver or having to go to an open surgery, I feel it's super important to follow the preop instructions to a T. We might want to cheat but you have to understand that now and after the surgery cheating is a danger to your health. No judgements from an and only support. The last thing anyone wants is for the surgery to go poorly or for the doctor to say they can't do the surgery because you didn't lose enough. It's happened to many sadly. 16. For me it's like feeling as if I can't move. I feel ill, shakey. I had it the first time I had a Protein Premier Protein shake and when I tried fat-free cream cheese. I haven't puked yet, fingers crossed! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Interesting! I didn't know nicotine is in second hand smoke. So does that mean second hand smoke is addicting since nicotine is the drug that causes the addiction? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm nearing 4 week out and I really struggle with putting any puréed foods in. I absolutely hate the feeling in my stomach for hours after having eaten. To the point that it makes me cry and regret the surgery. I fear I will always feel this uncomfortable sensation and never feel they way I used to again. I'm having a huge emotional crisis over this. 19. I think it could be because of coughing? Anyway, my surgeon said nothing about it. I even told him that I was a pot smoker. It was never an issue at all! And I was so fucking nervous to say it too! LOL!! All they said is don't smoke cigarettes yourself. But if it's stressing you out then that's not good at all. It is your grandparents house and they are allowed to do what they want, even if it's not nice. It sucks but my mom is similar and I've dealt with it for years. And since it's something you're focused on and upsetting you that's probably good idea to make things easier on both of you for six weeks or so. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Oh man, I'm so sorry you are feeling so discouraged and frustrated, have you tried adding another shake as well? And I'm assuming you are non stop drinking Water too. I'm 24 days post and don't have hunger anymore. Good luck!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. so do you puree the refried beans? Do you get bad gas? And scrambled eggs, they don't have to be pureed do they?? Cause I can try them!
  22. I am struggling really hard with this as well. Additionally I've had really bad acid reflux and now my whole throat hurts everyday now. I just posted a thread asking what people's eating schedule is to try and get some inspiration. Right now I hover at 60 grams of Protein a day and 450 calories per day. I'm in the pureed stage but I'm struggling with it as 2 ozs is all I can barely do and the acid is so bad I suffer. I'm also having transient nausea which SUCKS. I really look forward to the days that I'm not in pain, feeling sick, tired or have a burning stomach/throat. lol! I know it's not far away but this is difficult. Oh, and constipation is SOO much fun right now. lol!
  23. I'm struggling so hard right now getting in all my numbers. I'm still sleeping in more post surgery, I commute to work and back, I'm here for 8 hours each day (once I'm back and recovered I will work 8-12 hours each day) and I'm struggling to get it all in. I have to do data entry, I am on the phone running around and then I also have zero hunger. So what is the schedule you guy go with? How do I keep my job and still eat and drink non-stop?? lol!
