Ok, thank you!!! Lol! I didn't read the responses, I was just stunned at what the OP wrote with bragging that their weight to start is most of our goal weight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Gas-x, should I use it?
My surgery was 10/10. I had the BGS, gallbladder removed, hernia repair and the had to repair a gastric diverticulitis. When I drink or lay down for a while my shoulders and upper chest kind of hurt. This is from the gas used in surgery I think. I do lots of walking and sit up straight when drinking. I make sure to swallow small amounts but it's still a bit like swallowing an air bubble. Would Gasx strips help this? Thanks guys!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

2 Weeks Post Op - Is this a hernia?
I just had my surgery on Monday and they found I had a huge hiatal hernia. What I thought was a very large mass of fat right below my lungs between my breasts ended up being a hernia. When I woke up my stomach was flat. With all this extra skin on either side, really weird. When I saw that I kind of freaked realizing it was a hernia not fat. Lol! Anyway, yes, call the doc today because that's what it sounds like to me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AThank you @@heidikat72 and @@KristenLe both so much, these do help. It's good to know other go through this fear. I was so excited up until yesterday and then this crushing fear and anxiety set in. Just expressing them in my OP helped a ton but hearing this really helps. I will make a list of all the benefits this afternoon and then keep it on me when I'm feeling scared again. And hearing the Dumping thing isn't as large of an issue with many Gastric Sleeve patients REALLY helps me. Thank you!! Ok, deep breaths, deep breaths...

I'm having the sleeve in 4 days and I'm scared this is not something I should do
I'm really scared about the long term issues with eating, dumping, not being able to drink liquids and eat, the long term issues with not being able to accept certain types of foods in your stomach, the fact I can't use any anti-inflammatories for the rest of my life. This is not something I sought to do, it's something the doctors have highly recommended it, I did 16 months on a liquid diet 3 years ago and lost 130 but gained back 40. My gallbladder went bad in February and caused an acute pancreatic attack which has now rendered me diabetic. I'm excited to get my gallbladder out as I've been suffering from nausea for over a year. But I'm really scared that I'm making a bad choice for myself with getting the sleeve done as well. I've lived a year and a half dealing with the issues of a liquid diet, the special needs you have to accommodate for eating so radically different than those around you.I'm scared, nervous and not really sure how to deal with that or who I should talk to, so I'm turning to you guys.

having my gastric sleeve op in 3 weeks tie- looking for online friends in the same boat!
I'm 5 days out till my surgery and starting to get scared, apprehensive and really worried about the long term stuff. I know it's just me dealing with this huge change. I think part of it is I've agreed to do this cause all the docs say I have to and I've done a 16 month liquid diet, I'm just so scared about permanently altering my body. I won't even get tattoos because I can't commit to a permanent mark on me. I don't do long term relationships well...lol! OMG I'm spiralling people!! lol! That's not all I'm thinking, I'm excited for the life change and the improvement of my movement and activities and all that. I'm just freaking out but trying to keep it private. My sister comes to town on Sunday before so I'll have her with me to help and that will be much better. What I'm really focusing on is stuff like riding a rollercoaster without fears of not fitting, traveling because I won't feel like a burden to myself or others. I'm trying to look forward and past the next 3 months so as to get over this anxiety. Also, I cheated last night on my pre-op diet and had a sliver of bread and a couple of fries. It has me worried I'm going to screw up after the operation and harm myself by eating poorly. I'm sure this is all very normal thoughts, worries and apprehensions. I'm also beating myself up because I don't feel like I've educated myself enough. I think I'm just in a bad head space but I'm already pulling myself out of it. lol! I'm glad to have this group, we can be the OctoberBest group!

They say to quit smoking, but what about legal marijuana?
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AYes, I very rarely have "munchies". Thank you on the congrats! I lost 130 lbs and then gain 40 back. Now I'm doing the Sleeve. I am excited because fasting for 16 months was really, really hard. I'm happy that I will get to eat real food again within a month or so! lol! Ok, thank you! I have a call into my doc but I was planning on a two week hiatus. Kind of like, don't smoke weed while my body is still only on the liquid stage. But hopefully I'll hear back soon. Tinctures are available but I tend to be very sensitive to ingested marijuana so I am thinking I would stay away from it 100% till I'm well healed. Stress, anxiety, anti-nausea and pain relief. My gallbladder went bad and it caused a pancreatic attack so I've been using it pretty regularly right now to stop the nausea (as well as ondansetron or whatever) as well as it reduces my abdominal pain. I've been using it that way since I ended up in ICU in February. I used it for stress and anxiety now for about 5 years. I was on anti-anxiety pills but I hated them and their effect on me - I felt like a druggie who would just sleep away my anxiety and I wasn't really living. So I worked with my doc and my Medical Marijuana distributor on a strain that helps stop my anxiety attacks as well as has reduced my issues of dealing with stress and repetitive thinking.

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AThanks everyone!! I'm not worried about munchies as I've done 16 months fasting and it was fine. Reefer Madness is an awesome movie. loL!

They say to quit smoking, but what about legal marijuana?
So my surgery is on Monday. I am a legal smoker of marijuana. What are the rules on this? I've told all my doctors I smoke pot and not one of them said anything about it. So I'm not sure what is OK or not and I just realized today I never asked. Anyone have any info or experience? I'm not worried about munchies and eating as I did 16 months on a liquid diet, smoked legally and never cheated so that's not the issue. I'm worried about it harming me somehow or harming my stomach. I'll check with the doctors office today but I wanted to ask you guys as well. Of course my first post is about pot. lol! Eh, oh well.
