    Is This Thing Working?

To my understanding with the sleeve, you should lose 10-15 pounds per month. You also need to be exercising as well. This is not GB which has calorie restriction and reduction in calories taken in the small intestine with it. I chose to be sleeved because I did not want to lose weight too quickly. I've seen people with gastric bypass lose weight super quick. They would have alot of excess skin and look sick. I was sleeved on 10/3/16. I have lost 53 lbs so far. I feel great and think I'm on target for losing about 15 lbs per month which is good. Just make sure you're exercising at least 5 days a week and stick with high Protein very low carb diet and you should be fine. If you hit a plateau change something, pick up on your exercise, drink more Water, or something to break the plateau. I still cannot really eat much more than 1/2 cup of food per sitting, but I make sure I only eat three times a day with 2 high protein Snacks. My doctor gave me a very specific eating plan which is low carb high protein. I've read other sleeve forums and for some odd reason some people think they still eat whatever in a smaller amount and lose weight. That's not going to work and you will not lose weight or start back gaining. Good luck everyone and don't get discouraged. To be honest, sounds like many of you are losing about 15 lbs per month which is around where you are supposed to be. Think about it like this.....without the sleeve would you have been able to lose 15 pounds per month. Like someone said in a previous post, we didn't gain the weight quickly, so it's going to take time to lose it. If you lose 10-15 pounds a month, in six months you will have lost 60-90 pds. Take care everyone and keep on moving towards your goals.

Going back to work after WLS

I'm still out. Had sleeve on 10/3/16. But I also had my gall bladder removed, so it was mandatory 4 weeks. But I have the time, so I'm taking 8 weeks. No need to rush back and I've gotten tons of stuff done around the house. Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!

First Day with NO PROTEIN SHAKES!

Yeah I'm 4 weeks out too. My dr.s main concern was fluids as well. I have been able to get about 45 g of Protein. I have found a juice Protein Drink that didn't taste so chaulky. It has 15 g of whey protein. Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!

    Update on OCt sleevers.....

Sleeved on 10/3, but had twisted sleeve which was corrected on 10/6. Spent 2 weeks on liquids due to swelling and nausea etc. I was going to the bathroom fine. Still on IV fluids when I can't get in liquids. This week has been great though. I have been able to keep down all liquids including soups and puree. Protein has been through protein fruit drinks like Atkins 20g and pineapple fruit drink I bought from my surgeons office 15g which is my favorite. Energy getting better and grateful I have the time to take off. Hopefully I can move to soft foods next week. My sleeved friends were right......the first 3 weeks were hell for me. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now and thankful for my husband who would not let me get discouraged..

    Just told me MIL

@Kblanc.... I told everyone else I was having gall bladder surgery as well because I did have my gallbladder removed. It's really none of their business, but I felt I needed to say something to my job and other folks as the reason I was going to be out.

    Women please respond

My cycle started the day before surgery. They gave me some sanitary napkins and disposable underwear. I requested tampons, but the hospital I had my surgery stated I could not use them being I was having surgery. Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!

    What's going on?

I'm 13 days post op today. The same with me. Some days I'm getting in my fluids great and I feel pretty good. Other days not and I feel really tired and yucky. It was like that yesterday. I just didn't want to be bothered and did not get half my fluids down. I'm glad to see it's not just me. Things will get better for both of us. Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!

    Just told me MIL

My husband told my MIL. I was not happy especially because my SIL is a big hater and would probably blab to everyone. Both my IL are very supportive and forunately did not have time to disclose to SIL. I asked them not to share. Then I had a long talk with my hubby about discussing thing with his parents before clearing it with me. If I do tell anyone, I will tell people when I'm ready. Really, it's none of anyone's business what I do with my body. Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!

    Water? Nooooo

Update: I ended up staying in the hospital until yesterday. I had meds to stop nausea and acid reflux. Didn't help. Found out my sleeve had a kink in it. Opted to let surgeon correct instead of waiting it out. I would get something strange like that. Lol. Surgeon said he's been sleeving for 12 years and I was his 3rd case with a kink in the sleeve. I came home yesterday but still have to have IV fluids at home to make sure I don't get dehydrated and end back up in the hopital. It sucks, but glad to be home at least. Able to kep a little Water and decaffeinated green tea down. Popcicles as well. That's the only sweet I can do though. Everything else sweet comes back even if I dilute it. Also I've been having this weird foam coming up sometimes. Anyone else experience that? Living life like it's golden! A change is coming!!!!
