Bariatricpal was on a list of websites provided my dietician and surgeon when I decided to have weight loss surgery.  I signed up about a week before my surgery.
 
I did not have a weight problem as a child, but around puberty I began to pick up weight.  i was chubby, not really fat in middle and high school.  When I went to college I was 186 pds. Instead of gaining the freshman 15, I lost 50 pds.  Every said I looked like I was sick.  My mom even took me to the doctor.  I gain 15 pds, so everyone would leave me alone and kept the other 35 pounds off for about 7 years.  I was around a size 10, so I was happy at that weight.
 
In  my late 20s,  my hair fell out and I became very depressed.  I stayed in the house and didn't go anywhere.  I gained 75 pds that year.  After that my weight fluctuated between 180 and 220 for several years.  
 
I tried all kinds of weight loss to get back to about 150, but I would lose and gain.  It was an endless cycle.  In 2010 at the age of 39, I became pregnant for the first and only time.  I had my child at 40 and gained 50 pds with my pregnancy.   I lost 40 pounds after my child was born, but could not lose more.  For 6 years I gained and lost the same 30-40 pounds.  Nothing worked.  Blood pressure began to go up.  I was put on blood pressure medication.  The last straw was when I had my physical in early 2015 and my doctor stated I was pre-diabetic.  My blood sugar was monitored over the year and my levels kept creeping up.  My knees hurt, my back hurt, my shoulders hurt, I was having alot of inflammation, stomach issues, and I weighed in at 286 pds.  I weighed more than my husband.  My gastrointestinal doctor as well as my primary physician both told me all of my issues were caused by my weight.  My gastrointestinal doctor referred me to the Weight Loss Clinic.  I started research into weight loss surgery at that time around the end of 2015.  I found out that it was good I chose gastric sleeve as due to my colon inflammation, I would not be a candidate for gastric bypass.  I am so happy I decided to have this surgery.  I am losing weight and feel so much better about myself and my life.
