JulieNOLA got a reaction from Pazza in Help! Avocado!
Remember mayo is fat & Avacado is fat. Your two causes for dumping is fat and sugar. So I wouldn't put them together. Try mashing avocado and blending it down smooth like a pudding. Leave out mayo

JulieNOLA got a reaction from kovab72 in Had gastric bypass 9/26/16
Surgery was 9/27 for me too. Had lapband removal & bypass done. Though I had hiatal hernia repair done in 2008 w/ band, have had a lot of issues w/ acid reflux and spasms at the junction where the stomach pouch & intestine attach. With several new meds, it's helped. Still on Clear Liquids 4 more days though due to the issues. I'm happy that my issues have been minimal. Had nausea and certainly gas pain, but no vomiting so far!
    9/27 - 240
    10/6 - 219 (I'm 5' 5.5")
    Excited with progress!

Call your doc. Possible to develop a fistula between pouch and old stomach which causes these symptoms. I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just an RN & well educated on these things.

I ordered the Patches a few days ago for the first time. Per the site you can wear them all together, night or day, for 12hrs. The B12 has the potential to cause energy boost that can keep you up at night though. I plan to wear them during the day under my bra and rotate sites.

I've come across many people on here who seem lost as to what they should be drinking, eating and how much/how often. I came across this and thought it might help somebody. It's just 5 pages, but very informative!

JulieNOLA got a reaction from Mysticpink74 in Finally ate at a restaurant today!
To anyone who hasn't been on our journey, it sounds silly. But I am 12 days post-op & went out with family today for lunch. Though I only had egg drop Soup, it felt like a small victory!!! I was able to "eyeball" the small soup, knew when to stop and it was a great feeling!
I know for many on here, they are moving through stages very fast. My medical group is conservative & I've followed it to the "T". Today was great affirmation that I'm making good progress! I also had strained fat free cream of chicken soup for dinner and all went well!
For anyone whose needing a "sweet fix", I wanted to share something I've made for years. My husband is diabetic. So you use I box of sugar free Jello instant pudding, 1/2 of the milk called for and mis them together. Then add a tub of sugar free cool-whip. It comes out the consistency of a mouse, is delicious and very satisfying with hardly any calories at all! chocolate, pistachio and cheesecake are our 3 favs!
    Best of luck to everyone!!!

JulieNOLA got a reaction from Pazza in I dumped for the first time!
That's not actually dumping. What happened was the fish did not successfully make it into your pouch most likely. The inlet to the pouch is only about 1cm. Bites should be the size of an eraser. Also suggested to eat with an oyster fork (tiny fork) to force tiny bites. Best of luck in the future!

My revision was overnight stay. Insurance approved 3-4 days. But I did great and wanted to be in my own bed. Oh, and the band removal and RNY was all one surgery. Took 2 hrs. 5 laparoscopic incisions.

I haven't eaten any of the Jello mousse either. Was just sharing the recipe. But I am equally terrified of dumping syndrome! Nothing is worth that feeling in my book! But, with this mousse being very low fat & sugar free it's a nice option. I have many diabetics in my family and instead of cakes for birthdays, we typically have fresh fruit and the Jello mouse as options. I actually have low blood sugar - reactive hypoglycemia. So, I kind of know what dumping feels like. Don't ever want to do that to myself intentionally! I wish you luck with your surgery! I'm thrilled I had it done!

Yes, my doc said it was spasms where the new pouch and intestines attach for the lower pain & a kind of heartburn type pain from the new suture line on the pouch for the upper one. Now on Pantoprazole (like Nexium or Prilosec) and liquid Carafate (prescription only) that coats everything to protect from acid.

Possibly not getting enough fluids. Dehydration can cause dizziness. Change positions slowly & it will help your body accommodate better.

You are eating regular foods too soon post-op. Grits are a big NO w/ bypass surgery. Fruits and eggs are not for a few more weeks. If your doctor didn't give you materials outlining what you can eat when, you could cause ulcers in your pouch or cause damage! I bought a book back before the procedure - a guide to eating after weight loss surgery for dummies. It has been very helpful! But my Doctor & dietician gave week by week lists of what could be eaten too. Good luck! A

Start to practice side sleeping now. I'd get a body pillow to hug so your tummy is against something. If you "train" yourself now, it should help
