elisa5150 got a reaction from Amber W. 37 in Tricare insurance
I have Tricare west. I was very concerned about getting authorized. At my initial appointment the doctor's office told me that Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve. I knew this wasn't true because I had checked the insurance before I even started. They double checked and it was a covered procedure. I went with an in network surgeon and not the MTF. I was not successful in getting the nutritionist or psych covered. My primary care doctor initiated the first referral and authorization to the surgeon, which they denied. However I chose to proceed and paid my copay and got the insurance adjusted rate for my visits. My surgeon has a person whose entire job is coordinating care with insurance and hospital. She did a great job and I had full authorization for my procedure within two weeks. My surgery is 10/18. The hospital registration nurse called this morning and confirmed that she had the authorization and had spoken to Tricare this morning. I have a $25 copay for the procedure. I expected a higher copay for the hospital stay and half expected her to say Tricare had made a mistake on the initial authorization. I'm very excited. Based on my experience on the forum, the insurance experience varies greatly between regions and even between surgeons.

I will be three months post op on 1/18. I have NO regrets. I thought about canceling many times pre op because I didn't want to fail. I kept changing my habits and was finally confident a week before. My sister had the sleeve three years before me and did poorly (due to her own bad choices-no Vitamins, high sugar diet) and is back to her starting weight. I have been diligent with Vitamins, following my eating plan. I look better than ever. My skin and hair look great and even though I could be said to be losing slowly, I'm lighter than I've been in 8 years. I get compliments every day. It's a personal choice and surgery is a tool, not a magic wand. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I think I've been going about this all wrong. BariatricPal is only helpful if you're a dumbass, apparently. I have been wasting my time trying to help and be helped. It really doesn't matter one damn bit if you're trying to do this right, get some support and learn a thing or two. The only people who stand to gain anything here are idiots who want to be enabled. So, since I can't remove myself gracefully, (can't delete your own profile) I believe I will go out with a bang and self-destruct. Yes, it's petty and childish, but I am old and tired and having hot flashes so I don't much care about what strangers on the internet think of me anymore.
The people who know what they should be doing don't have time to hang out here and tell the crybabies how hard this is and it's okay if they just need a cheeseburger to make it all okay. The people who want to help others succeed get banned when they finally get fed up and snap. If all goes as planned, I will be the next one to get banned, because frankly am tired of dancing around the BULLSHIT on this website.
If you have the patience to stay here and play the game, good on ya. I'm outta here. Somebody help me out and report this post. Thanks!

This is totally dependent on your starting bmi. I started at 35 and dr said to expect to lose 35lbs in 6 months, 70lbs at 1 year. When was the last time you dropped 50 in 6 months?!? Sounds like success to me!

I sincerely hope no one is judging her for her choice of profession, or her FB profile. Personally, I am all about making it work with what you've got! Clearly she has a strong sense of self confidence and I say MORE POWER to HER!

I worry more about her food choices and what they could do to her Healthwise. That's the ONLY issue here.

There are so many nice, intelligent people contributing to these forums. Their information is on point, their insight invaluable!! I look for some of these people under all of the comments so that I can follow them for their remarks, advice and humour!!
THEN there are those people, mainly women I'm sorry to say, who take every remark, every answer, every comment that does not suit them and they turn the discussion into a battle!! They seem to feel that everything written is an attack on their sanity, their intellect or their standing in the world!! They go into attack mode with the slightest provocation and insist you leave their thread and their life!! I truly don't understand this kind of mentality and how people with such thin skin can function in the real world!!
It's so nice to a have a forum of like minded individuals, WLS/losing weight, where everything and anything can be discussed. Why ruin it with name calling, direct personal attacks and a militant stance?
Please remember now, this is MY RANT!!
