  1. I was sleeved October 3, and so far, I'm doing well. I am on soft foods (my NUT and surgeon let me pass the puree stage). I have had nausea with Protein drinks, so what I do first thing in the morning now is take my Pepcid and the medication that my surgeon gave me that says "take 15 minutes before meals" which reduces nausea. Then I attempt a Protein shake for Breakfast so that I am off to a good start first thing: 30g protein. Some days I just can't stomach it. For meals, I now eat things like rotisserie chicken, sashimi, tuna, greek yogurt, low fat cheese and deli meats. Tonight, I am making the WLS famous "Ricotta Bake" and also making a new recipe "Huli Chicken", a Hawaiian specialty. I substitute sugar free apricot preserves for the brown sugar, so it's really healthy. Occasionally, I get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and upper stomach after eating. Its usually when I eat too fast. I am now doing cardio (elliptic) 3-4 days a week. I was OK'ed for this on my two week f/u. I love it! I sleep like baby, and wake up refreshed! Better than before surgery. I'm only weighing myself every three days, otherwise I'd go crazy. HW: 239 Weight on day I started two week pre-op diet: Sept 19, 2016: 236 SW: Oct 3, 2016 219 Current: 206
  2. Tomato Basil Bisque, strained. I love it. Just have to limit it, since the sugars are not super low.
  3. @@megan1971, are you drinking Protein shakes? In the food you mentioned, I didn't see any protein (other than the wingettes?)
  4. I agree that the term snacking is somewhat vague. Like many of you who already posted, I eat about every 3-4 hours, Protein "meals" which consist of about 2 ounces of yogurt, sliced turkey, cheese or Protein shake or maybe chicken. Usually fish for "dinner", again 2 or maybe 3 oz.
  5. Who's spouse doesn't want you to lose much weight? My husband says not to lose over 30lbs. And he is very very slim. (Too slim). I feel he is undermining why I am doing this. Like 30lbs will not make me healthy. It makes me feel like he thinks this is a cosmetic choice instead of a medical need. In fact he had called this elective surgery over and over like I am getting a nose job. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App @@Joy@boman, Your husband seems a bit controlling. It's your health, your body. He shouldn't try and control that. Do you think it is an insecurity issue? I am lucky to have a spouse who has been my advocate since the day I went to my first consult. He is thrilled that I will be healthy and fit enough to join him in hikes, exercise, and just enjoy life more. However, from what I've read, lots of significant others have a hard time dealing with the changes. It makes me wonder about the dynamics that the relationships are built on. I think that in some cases the non-obese partner feels happy and secure having an overweight partner for many reasons. But honestly, it's selfish. It might be good to explore what your husband is feeling uncomfortable about. Losing you? Having amore confidant wife? Do what you feel is right for you alone and your health. Good luck!!
  6. Welcome @@wyominggirl, @@sarahblu and @@bigjake_35! I have found this site to be fun, supportive and very helpful. Look forward to hearing your stories of success! Kel
  7. I had a couple food dreams pre-op while on the liquid diet and starving. In one dream I went to Carls' Jr and ordered one of those big 'ol juicy burgers. I got in a car and started speeding down the road. I was trying to avoid anyone I knew. I parked on some lawn of an unknown house and was enjoying the hell out of the burger. Then my husband came up to me out of no where and was staring at the burger questioningly. I knew I was caught but played it off. Then I saw a police car go racing past us, turn around, and come back towards us. And I woke up. I haven't had any food dreams since surgery.
  8. @@karen.del I'm glad! I posted for those who are going through what I through, fear of always being hungry. It goes away, I promise! Good luck you!!
  9. I am 3 weeks post op. I was one of those weirdos who was actually hungry up until almost two weeks post op. I was worried that the part about removing the hunger hormone leptin hadn't happened for me. Now, for the past week and at week 3, I can comfortably say I no longer feel hunger all day. in fact, I only feel it when I have gone too long without eating, like 4 hours or so. The mental obsession and mentally visualizing food is over. I still get occasional cravings but it's when I truly need to eat. AND, the best part is that I'm not depressed about not being able to eat cheeseburgers, etc anymore. Now I crave healthy protein! I'm just posting to let any new sleeves know that if you are hungry all the time, most likely it is a temporary condition and it will pass. Best wishes to all! Kel
  10. Hi Sheri, I am 47 and I'm 20 days post op. I'd love to share stories and support!
  11. I don't have a physically demanding job either, and I went back after one week. I don't recommend it though. I had to leave early three times in a week due to pure fatigue. I would come home straight into bed for a nap. Week two I was much better and more suited for work.
  12. I was the same way. Around days 10 and 11 I began to get physically sick from my protein shakes. Weakness, nausea, and discomfort with drinking protein. I managed to stick it out until I saw my NUT on day 16. I was then granted soft foods. Even though most the soft foods don't make me nauseas, I still get discomfort after eating a lot of them. I think this is totally normal, and I expect it to get better. You will find, on soft foods, that some goes down very well, and others not so much. It is trial and error. But if you are like me, adding the variety of soft foods for the most part eliminates the sickness you are getting now. Good luck!
  13. I was, and still am a major "foodie". Pre-surgery my weakness as burgers, the big juicy type. So, now almost 3 weeks post op, I am becoming more creative in the kitchen. When I get triggered by an ad, I ask myself how I can make something similar but using healthy ingredients. I have replaced all red meat with fish, chicken and turkey. I had a terrible craving for Chinese food a few days ago, right after I drove past Panda Express. So I went to the store and bought chicken and made "sweet and sour chicken" but made it sugar free, and pan cooked it with Pam instead of frying it. I could only eat two bites, but my family ate the rest and loved it!! I am finding it fun and creative to turn the massively high calorie foods we see on ads constantly into low- carb, sugar free meals. So, Bring it On, Ads! I'll make something better!
  14. I'm 19 days post op and I am the same way. Some days great and some days seriously weak. Now that I can eat soft meat and Proteins I've been having more great days than bad. Are you allowed to eat soft Protein yet? Getting enough fluids in? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I agree with everything @@Caribear said. On another note, this is just my opinion, but in the scope of marriage there are far, far more difficult and serious matters that will come up within the scope of your life together. Not having surgery on the same day to me sounds trivial compared to a lot of other issues. If she makes a huge deal out of this, how can she handle bigger stuff? Just my thoughts. Good luck and best wishes to you both.
  16. Welcome home KristenLe! Sorry to hear you had such bad nausea. Man do I ever know about the Chewbacca tummy. Day and night, the roaring and growling! I hope you feel good very soon! Welcome to the losers bench and to your new life!!
  17. Today was a good day as far as getting my Protein in. Morning: over easy egg with veggie sausage patty. Veggie patty was awful and made me ill s I gave it and the rest of the package to the dog who seemed to love it.. The egg was great. = 6 g protein 5 oz Isopure Protein Drink. Not the greatest flavor, a bit "mediciney" but drank it. = 10 g Noon= 2 oz tuna w/ lite mayo. Yum. = 11 g Afternoon= low fat cheddar slice with one slice of turkey. I find this goes down well with no issues. = 15 g Isopure 5 oz =10 g Dinner: Oven baked chicken strips. I had one, about 2 oz. = 13 g Isopure 5 oz =10 g Altogether I reached my 80 g just about. Still working on my Water for the day!
  18. I'm only 19 days post op but I could sleep on my stomach after about 5-7 days. I am primarily a stomach sleeper so I'm glad it didn't take long. I got the OK from my surgeon to start exercise at 2 weeks. no weights though for a while. I can't comment on the feet/calves yet. Too soon. We will see in a year! My parents and husband and daughter know. My friends and extended family do not. I know they will all start asking questions when the weight loss becomes noticeable, I don't know what I will say yet. I was also told no asparagus. Too fiberous, apparently.
  19. Wow, great progress! I am looking forward to weights as well, and I think about 5 weeks post op will be a good time to start. I'm just now starting cardio, 18 days post op. Your post makes me think that during stalls a change up in exercise might just be the trick. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and success!
  20. @@Candygyrl Thanks! Awesome tips I will looking into! happy early birthday to you and congrats on your 50 percent mark!! The spa is a great way to treat yourself! I hope you enjoy!!
  21. I can eat 3 oz if it is mushy like tuna with lite mayo, cottage cheese or soup and the like. I can only eat 1 or 2 oz of meat such as soft chicken or salmon so far. I am 18 days post op.
  22. I would ask why his mom is so against it. What could her reasons be? Then I would have a heart to heart with him and ask him why HE is against it. Ultimately, if he wants you to be happy and healthy, he will support you. It is your body, and no one can forbid you.
  23. That's awesome!! But you don't have to be "fit" to do yoga!! I also teach body inclusive classes that are designed for people who are in bigger bodies, older, recovering or new. Most people only know the super thin instagram type yoga people but there are tons of people who do yoga at every size and shape! I don't know about pilates but I do know that yoga can be accessible to everyone so i encourage you to try it! My Dr let me go back to it after just 2 weeks and I was so very glad he did because it really helped me mentally and emotionally get through recovery. @@GACaldwell, Thanks for that info! I would love to start now. I just need to check around and see if my town has a class for 'fat ladies', lol! I would HATE to be the one fat lady in the class!!
  24. I was getting 60-80 oz a day in up until I started eating soft foods. Now I find it harder to get all 64 oz in since any food at all totally stuffs me.
