Just because they are asking doesn't mean you have to answer. As a matter of fact keeping your business will lead to them shrugging their shoulders and moving on to something else. If you do start talking...it's an open topic.

I wish you a good day tomorrow. I was just there last Wednesday, so I know exactly how you feel. I'm not perfect, but at 3 days post-op, I am in MUCH BETTER shape than I thought I would be!!

You just had significant surgery to lose weight.
I'd take not being turned on by food right now as a bonus.
    Make the most of it.

So days 1-4of the pre op diet i was irritable. Days 5-10 i was fine. It's now day 11 and i woke up in such a bad mood. I feel frustrated that people get to eat regular stuff while I'm drinking these stupid shakes. I'm sure this feeling will pass but I'm def in a mood today.

Hi Camacho 933, I too start my diet on Tuesday and surgery date is on the 19!!! ???? I've tried and like the ready to drink premier Protein (all 5 flavors) and the muscle milk vanilla creme. So far I've noticed that the Premier Protein is the one with the highest amount of Protein 30g.

You will need Protein to burn fat. They do the liquid diet so u lose some weight and shrink your liver prior to surgery. Definitely try the isopure! Sent from my LGLS770 using the BariatricPal App

Well I had my meeting with the surgeon on 9/27/2016 and sleeve has been scheduled for 10/31/2016. I was hoping to have it done sooner but at least it's not November as he initially thought it was going to be. I'm so anxious to get this show on the road. I want to be well on the mend by the time the holidays roll around. I started this journey in April weighing 267 and I am now 231. Feeling better already!

My BMI is 34 (my surgeon worked it out to be 33 but I was wearing shoes so I think she thought I was taller) and I've been dieting for 37 years. It is harder and harder to lose weight these days, even with frantic exercise, a busy and active job and a very strict diet. I have insulin resistance, hypertension, high cholesterol, PCOS and a few other things that would improve with less weight on my body. I also have a scary family history of heart disease on both sides.
My VSG is scheduled for 10 days time. My surgeon agrees with me that if I'm really unlikely to lose weight any other way now, and that if I'm going to do it then the best time is before I have my first heart attack or stroke. I tried so many diets and exercise plans, and I've never been normal, let alone slender!
My husband was against the idea at first, he's scared I'll die during the operation. Luckily statistics are on my side on that one and he's a mathematician so he's feeling a little less terrified now. My mum was surprisingly easy to talk around, she's always worried about my weight because of the family health problems - although she's never been overweight and really doesn't understand why dieting is so difficult. She thinks skipping lunch is a painful ordeal and has never met a biscuit she didn't like. She can also still fit into her wedding dress which is impressive (but a little creepy!)
I have only had one negative reaction to telling people about my VSG - a friend who said she didn't think I should have it done if my BMI was less than 35. I asked her why, did she think I'd have a better chance to survive surgery or a better weight loss outcome if I started off 20lbs heavier?
I haven't told more than 4 people about the upcoming surgery because of this one negative reaction, which sounds a bit silly when I write it down but I could do without the naysayers while I'm a bit nervous and also because I'm somewhat cranky on my pre-op diet and likely to be a tad less than tactful in my answers!

Opinion has a positive connotation; judgement has a negative connotation.
I'm not interested in arguing further on this. Cheers to everyone on this scary, but wonderful journey! Here's to everyone getting their Protein, fluids & Vitamins in and dropping pounds & pant's sizes!

Well - one definition of opinion is a "view or judgement of something, not necessarily based on fact." So I stand by my original statement and rather than attacking them for their opinion (judgement) - try and help them to understand the other side.

    SD123,
Yes, I am really seeing results now. Early post op I didn't have too many issues. I woke up with a large drain on my left side, IV and had some pain, mainly at the drain site. Not everyone gets a drain, I had fair bit of oozing so had this drain. I had no nausea, was so glad to have something to drink finally. I was in the hospital for 3 days, and once at home I had all the stuff for the liquid phase. Sipping was bit uncomfortable initially, and I could feel liquid going down my oesophagus.
I had bit of nausea at times, took Zofran wafers, and had oxycodone for pain.
I found the liquid phase the toughest one, as I felt really hungry. I was surprised re this hunger, but I was still quite raw post op, and had fair bit of reflux, even with the prescribed PPI.
I had a couple of nasty experiences, one was waking up at 3 am, choking on and coughing up acid, burning, foul acid.
I elevated my pillow, and this happened again few days later.
I was told to stop drinking Tomato juice, especially in the evenings.
I also told my surgeon, and asked to be put on Nexium 40mg.
    Nexium really helped with reflux.
The second scary experience was I started feeling faint, cold and clammy with racing pulse while I was driving. Lucky it was a short drive. Once I got to my appointment, the nurse on duty recognised that I was dehydrated. She gave me Hydralyte to drink, and I was fine 15 minutes later.
I threw up few times, too dry scrambled egg and after a fatty beef mince.
I had a terrible reaction to chocolate, reflux from hell! Maybe just as well.
Other than the liquid phase, other stages of purees, soft and mushies, then more solid food were much better to cope with.
I had few stalls, and I learnt through this forum that stalls are normal, and that my body will keep adjusting itself at its own pace.
I still have burps and wind post op. Did not have it before op. It will subside or be gone one day, especially once I get off the PPI.
I am just plodding along, my appetite is gone, don't feel hungry till late afternoons and at times I have to force myself to eat.
If there is anything else you would like to know, I'll be happy to share it.
My health problems are good now, my sugar levels are normal, and my liver is perfect now.
My hair is thicker, and my face looks 10 years younger!
So, I am just very happy that I had this surgery

My hubby is taking me to Coco Beach Fl for my 40th birthday which is in about 4 weeks!!! Last time I flew was about two years ago and I had to ask for an extension :-(
My goal in the next 4 weeks is to hit a 60lb weight loss which means another 7lbs to go I'm hoping that will make it so the belt will click! !!!
