I have Aetna insurance and I had my first consult on 12/26/2016. I then had my psychiatric evaluation and consult with my GDI and finally completed my endoscopy.
Nutrition consults where from January to March and the office had me schedule one for April then a week later in March I got a call to come in for weigh in on 4/7/17 so they could submit my paperwork on 4/10/17.
Anxiously waiting I kept calling the office with no update and then today 4/19/17 I called Aetna and they said I was approved with service date 5/10/17 and then a few minutes later the office called with the great news
I go in to sign my paperwork tomorrow, Friday I have pre admission testing and then followup with my PCP next Thursday. In all, approval took 7 business days: psychiatric eval, egd, 3 monthly nutritional consults and post consult with surgeon.

We are only 3 weeks away! So exciting and nerve wrecking all at the same time. My timeline was a bit faster than yours as my first consult was on 3/10/17 so only 2 months for me. Let me know if you want to be sleeve buddies!

I'd rather they all freaking agree on some basic things like pre-op diet guidelines and post-op diets for the first 8 weeks.

Wouldn't it be great if bariatric surgeons all had to have bariatric surgery themselves before they practiced?

Good for you! I also had a "breakup" with certain foods myself over a week ago when I began my pre-op diet. My surgery is next Wednesday on the 15th and honestly the pr-op diet has not been as hard as I thought I would be, thank you Jesus. Trust me I have been praying for God's help in this because I loved sweets lol, but since beginning this pre-op diet I have not been craving the sweets as I did before. Sometimes I do like last night, but I made me some Protein ice-cream with 1 c of unsweetened almond milk, which is only 1 carb, and 1 scoops of Isopure, chocolate protein, which is 0 carbs, and 2c of ice, and blend it all up in your blender. It gave me my protein and cured my craving for chocolate. So yes, this is very doable, we've just got to look for foods/recipes that are a healthy alternative to our cravings and fit into our lives. We can't look at as losing weight means losing our favorite foods, we have to look at losing weight as gaining a healthy lifestyle that will result in a fuller life. We can do this!

Today I am 1wk post-op from my sleeve surgery! Most of the chest pressure from when I drink is gone, thankfully! My bowels are working and I'm not nauseous! Praise the Lord for all these things! My stomach muscles are on the mend but still a bit sore when bending over or getting up. I have lots of bruising on my tummy. Other than that I'm able to do my protien drinks, Soups, sf Jello, sf popsicles, greek yogurt & cream of wheat. My first week I lost 6.5lbs! Yaya!

Well that feeling is normal I have heard. Many don't speak because we have a mate. So get out there and find someone that would scratch that itch. Or as my daughter calls it to keep it clean in front of the kids "do some coloring"
