It’s official! 2 of my goals are crossed off ~ I was able to go off my diabetic meds the 2nd day I began the optifast! Then I was able to stop taking my blood pressure medication about a month or so ago! I am beyond ecstatic and amazed! ...determined to not go back!!! Anyone else?
oh, first day back at the track today since the snow is gone now! Loving it!!!

hello! I converted from lapband to bypass on May 1 (single stage). Spent two nights in hospital. First day was rough due to nausea. But have had very little pain except when I stand up or sit down the larger insision where the port was removed hurts momentarily.
I didn’t use any of the narcotic in the pain pump and haven’t even had a Tylenol!
I am able to drink my liquids and walk. Although I do get tired pretty quickly!
But I hope all your surgeries go as smoothly!

My surgery is a little over two weeks away. I've been on a hybrid liquid diet since April 1. Phase 2 of my liquid diet starts Thursday (5-6 glucerna shakes and 200 cals of veggies per day). Hopefully it will knock out the last three pounds I need to lose before surgery.
I need to get active again... I want at least 12000 steps a day between now and surgery.
I've also been prepping for my family, cooking freezer meals for the first couple of weeks post op when I know I won't want to be in the kitchen at all. This Friday I'm going to hit up a couple of health food stores for some samples of Protein powders to try before I commit to stocking up on something in particular.
    Good luck to us all...

Do you really think it’s a good idea to ask a bunch of strangers with no medical degree if it’s OK to go against your surgeon’s instructions? There’s a medical protocol for this surgery for a reason.

Common thought, but drop it from your thinking. Your pouch isn't going to stretch out right now. That takes time. You have other things to think about so don't waste your time with this worry. Use this time get to know your new stomach.
    Few things to try:
Every time you think to yourself "hungry" switch it with the word "thirsty" and take a sip of Water. Get some liquid in your mouth and down that throat. Flavor your water. Brighten up your taste buds' day. Switch it up so you have something different and tasty in your routine.

I think the "head hunger" is a bigger struggle than real food hunger and it takes a while to adapt.

I don’t think it is is buyer’s remorse, we know it will all be okay in the end, but there are days we struggle. Today was one of those days for me, and I’m only a week post-op. It truly is a lifestyle change and we can’t change everything overnight. The recovery stage is the hardest because your diet is so boring (if I have to drink more chicken broth my head will explode). Best of luck!!

I always weigh in the morning with no clothes before my Drs. Appointment and consider that my "real" weight. I don't even pay attention to what the Drs. scale says because of my clothes or anything I ate or drank before the appointment.

Doctor's scales are always 5-7 lbs off from home, if only partially because of clothes and the other part is because of them sometimes having consistent inaccuracies.

I was 7 lbs off on Wednesday. 329 in office. 322 at home. (320 this morning)

Not at all. LOL. I'm right there with you! I only have morning appts. I wear the same thing each time and it's the lightest set of clothes I own. And I take my shoes off and make sure I pee just before the weigh in. Oh and go fasted with no fluids in me. And no coffee, cuz coffee will add a pound to the scale all the time. Obsessed much? LOL! 🍾

Am I the only one who gets discouraged when I get weighed at the office and you're five pounds heavier because of the clothes?
I always weigh myself each morning when I get out of the shower.
Also an added benefit of catcalls from my wife when I do so.

I am super stoked that I am Revising from VSG to RNY this coming Friday. I am not doing it for weight loss alone. I have terrible bleeding reflux and 2 hiatal hernias. I am optimistic this will fix if not eliminate the majority of these issues.
After the VSG I experienced esophageal strictures as well as 2 bowel obstructions. Ready for the VSG nightmare to be over!

Starting this journey (pre-op) up to Surgery I lost 60 lbs. I lost 20 more on the liver shrinking diet. Since surgery in January, I have lost 58 lbs. So from my highest weight just over a year ago, I am down 122 lbs!

Update: I’ll be 3 months post-op next week and I just hit a milestone earlier this week.
On April 30, I was officially under 200 pounds!!!!!!

I was even brave enough to weigh again this morning and I’ve dropped another 2 so I’m at 197.8.

Takes my total loss post-surgery to 45 pounds.
All of this in 12 weeks

allies journey reacted to FluffyChix in HELP! 7 YR POST OP WASTING BAD LABS HOW TO RECOVER?
First step is to start eating. You need at least 80g-100g per day in your situation but 60g is a good but inadequate start. You will need Protein yes, but you will also need to get in more calories than your mind will allow you to consume right now. But I'm not a licensed anything, just a shmo on the internet. You are still consuming too few calories. I think at this point you need to be hospitalized and refed. You may need a feeding tube to get you where you need to be for gain.
Go to the ER. Get admitted there.

I also have BCBSIL and will be finished with last requirement on Monday April 29. My insurance coordinator says that it can take up to 2 weeks for approval. I'm a teacher, so I'm hoping for a July date. Good luck to us both!

So I didnt see a June thread and wanted to make one so we could all stay accountable and have a lot of good and bad experiences together!!! Introducing myself: My name is Kassandra, I am 27 years young, I have 3 great kids, a wonderful hubby, and 3 great cats. I'm a type 2 diabetic & have sleep apnea. I decided to do this to take my life back. I'm 5 ft 2 and 258 lbs. I had planned for the sleeve but my insurance won't cover it right now so RNY it is!

I am 3 weeks post op and I have had that same feeling the past week two weeks. The dr just keeps telling me to eat or drink slower. I am taking tiny sips and drinking slow. I feel so nauseous that I am not getting my recommended Protein or Water because I feel so sick. The dr finally prescribed me some anti nausea pills, which have helped some. Hoping you find relief soon, not feeling well sucks!
