  1. Give him some tasks that will benefit both of you. Maybe research for some new recepies for Protein drinks or pureed foods? The internet is filled with all kinds of recepies and then you can try them together. He can emerge himself in the internet for hours. In return, maybe you could ask him for a pillow or a bottle of Water, once in a while, so he can feel he has had an important role in your recovery? Men are usually straight forward and can't read hints ???? Nilla
  2. Please use your common sense. Eating sticky candy two weeks out, before beeing cleared for pureed and soft foods is an invite for complications. Even at the pureed and soft food stage, candy is not allowed. With that mindset you could eat chocolate for your liquid stage, since it melts in your mouth. But is it in accordance with your plan? I bet not. Your nut most likely wants you to eat a healthy, hi Protein and low carb diet. It never includes sweets!! Candy is hi carb and empty calories and can get stuck in your staples. Ask your surgeon or nut for their opinion if you don't believe me or the other people trying to help you. And this is a public forum where the vets are very helpful. You might want to listen to the people who succeeded already. They did it right. I wish you luck and hope you don't end up with the people who didn't take advantage of their wls and didn't lose weight or gained it back, at the bad end of the percentage spectrum. You have to work for it. Nilla
  3. You are not supposed to use gummy Vitamins anymore after surgery, swedish fish are even worse! And two weeks out... Please don't confuse people doing research. Nilla
  4. I choose rny because of my reflux. My surgeon asked if I had a preferance and when I said rny, she said that was her plan also. I don't have diabetes yet, but those meds stay at the hospital when you leave after rny, I was told. Also the recovery seems to be easier. Did a lot of research and I don't mind the rerouting anymore. It's reversable, sleeve is not. But we all make our own desicions, good or bad, the future can't be predicted. I'm on the table Nov 21st and can't wait! Good luck to you all! Nilla
  5. Yup, read it already thanks! My stall finally broke and I'm happy again. Gave the same advice to some people today. Sometimes it helps when you complain and get it off your chest. Nilla
  6. Being healthy. And a lot of the things listed above! Nilla
  7. Just be very careful if you eat them without soaking them. They are like sponges and might dehydrate you if you are already low on your Water intake. A small amount takes up a lot of your precious liquids. Nilla
  8. Hi peeps! To make it easier to find surgery buddies, I made a fb group called RNY November 2016. Everyone having RNY in November are welcome to join. Nilla Nilla

  10. Thanks for your comments! I know I'm just beeing impatient. Just over 6 weeks to my surgery and I was getting a few appointments via mail today that my anesthesiologist wanted me to do as a precaution. I will be very busy in the upcoming weeks anyway, so the distraction will be welcome. It's getting cold here in Finland and the darkness does nothing for me. It's close to freezing during the night, so I had to get out all my winter clothes. I will be sad to see my beautiful and warm down jacket getting to big for me, but I will rather take the weight loss. In case you don't know, Finland is the home country of Santa Claus (the North pole is a bad rumor), so be good people, I have connections! ???? Nilla
  11. Thanks for letting me know! The squirrels might be hungry after the hurricane Nilla
  12. Just venting... I have been doing well and had a steady weight loss at my max 1500 cal diet with 100g proteins. Then the dreaded stall came 10 days ago... I'm so sick of waiting for it to be over. I reduced my cal intake to 1300 cal yesterday and still nothing. I know it needs to happen, but still, it has been going on long enough. I HATE IT!!!
  13. Be safe! I haven't gotten any answer to emails from my friend in Wellington. Is it very bad?
  14. I also know of only one who had complications and she had other issues before that came into play. I have done the same liquid diet a year ago for 12 weeks and lost over 30 lbs. It's fine, because I also get to eat a few veggies and limited extra Protein like eggs, chicken, turkey... My goal for the 4 weeks was set at 5-10% loss. It should work out. I live in Finland so the health care system is very different. I only pay for the visits to the hospital and hospital stay, the rest is free for me. Due to this system, they are very strict with meeting all criterias for surgeries. We have a few extra in regards to wls. Nilla
  15. Carbs, my frenemy... I also liked eating in the evenings, instead of during the day. My portions have always been reasonable, but was snacking too much before bed time. I was seeing a nut for a year to correct my habits and in November I'm getting my RNY "insurance". Nilla
  16. Nov 21st liquid diet starts Oct 24th Nilla
  17. 500 cal is very low, maybe move to the middle of nowhere for your diet? Just to keep you family and friends sane I decided on the RNY, because of my reflux and my surgeon agreed. Nilla
  18. My weight that counts for the bmi, is the one from when I started my journey. I am below bmi 40 right now and will still lose before my surgery. But still approved they were happy with my progress and set my goal for the next 6 weeks to a 5-10% loss. You will be just days behind me! Nilla
  19. I got an all clear so far. They still want me to see my cardiologist and have a more extensive lug check. I might be able to skip the endoscopy... keep your fingers crossed! I will have a 4 week liquid diet with some veggies and Proteins allowed. Max 800 cal/day. They want me to lose 5-10% of my CW. I can have caffeine all the way, but without sugar. Nilla
  20. So that's why I have so much food in my copboards!?! 4 months of snow and darkness heading this way..... I went and got some Jello boxes, Protein drinks and tiny containers today. Itty bitty ready made jellos will wait for me when I get back from surgery. I already had a digital scale and protein shakes. Nilla
  21. You are very low on fluids, that might be a big reason for "slower" loss. Concentrate on meeting your Fluid and protein goals and your body will release the weight. But still, I think you have had a great start! Nilla
  22. I will hear tomorrow if I need to give it up. The only restriction that I know of is your surgery will be cancelled if you can't lose weight before surgery or if you still smoke. Nilla
