  1. Hi everyone, I tried to do some research on this before I posted but didn't seem to find anything. I've never had a problem taking pills before. I would take a few smaller pills at a time, no problem. I'm currently one month post op, and I've been taking my surgeon prescribed Prilosec and actigall since one week post op. I had been having trouble getting these down. It wasn't so much my stomach giving my problems, it was actually swallowing them, and getting them to my stomach. They felt like they were stuck in the back of my throat! I drank Water but it didn't seem to help, slowly I would feel them going down. Now that I'm a month post op, I just added a one a day Multivitamin capsule instead of the liquid I was taking, and it's really thrown me off the deep end. I feel like they get in my throat and two days in a row I had to run to the bathroom because I was this close to throwing up. I just can't think of a reason why I would be having physical difficulties swallowing pills now. Once they make it to my stomach I'm fine. Is this all in my head? Has anyone else had this issue? Or any suggestions? I'll talk to my doctor next week anyway. Thanks for the help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks everyone. All of my pills are capsules though so I'm not able to crush or split them. Maybe I'll try take one at a time and waiting 10 or so minutes in between. Glad its not just me!
  3. I agree with Munky! But I do get what you're saying. I'm not at that point yet, I think I'll probably say something ahead of time just because I would be freaking out about what they would think haha It's hard to tell what someone's reaction is going to be, but I wouldn't want to be with someone that couldn't accept some loose skin anyway!

    How many Incisions

I have four, but I think my surgeon usually does 5. Everyone kept looking for 5 when I was in the hospital haha They are very small and I don't think they'll be very noticable

    Three week stall?

Very common thing. Just commenting to lament with you! I'm three weeks out, lost 17 lbs one week pre op and one week post, and I've been stalled for two weeks now. Very frustrating, but trying not to think too much about it and just keep meeting my goals! Good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Piggybacking on a peeing question

I've been good about hitting my Water goals, and I'm drinking about the same or a little bit less than I did pre surgery. I do think I'm going less frequently than I did before but also my urine is darker than pre surgery. I can't figure out why! I'm definitely getting my water in, I shouldn't be dehydrated. 7. My surgery was my number one priority, and I wanted it done as soon as possible. My mother actually stayed a week with me after surgery to take care of me and help me out. I don't think you'll be up to entertaining someone a week out. I was driving and going out a little bit but they were short trips and I got tired quickly. how much food

I'm three weeks out but definitely eat more than 1.5 oz per meal. Probably closer to 2.5 or even 3. I'm only averaging 400-500 calories a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I was told I could start lifting after a month. I'm currently three weeks out and don't think I'll be ready at a month. This past week I walked over two miles at lunch three days in a row and I've been really sore ever since. Probably did too much too soon. I do feel like I have more pain than most people this far out though. Six weeks sounds like a better time frame. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Almost everyone hits this stall. I lost 17 lbs during my one week pre op diet and one week post op and then I stalled. I'm three weeks out now and haven't lost since that first week. Just make sure you're hitting your Protein and Water goals and watch your carb intake and ride it out! Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

Plain old Water. On the cooler side. I bought every sugar free beverage under the sun and realized I didn't like this beverages before, why would I like these after? Haha Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. My stomach was rumbling a lot the week after my surgery and they helped a lot. Instantly settled my stomach down. I didn't have gas pains from the gas after surgery though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Has anyone had insurance cover plastics?

I have been told that my insurance, Cigna, covers it. I haven't looked into it though.

    Hiccups?

I had surgery on Monday too and also had hiccups. I held my breath and that seemed to help. I just got discharged today and feel really good! Sore, but I'm having no problem drinking Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I hate blood tests!

Ugh that looks bad! Mine look pretty close to that too. Strangely enough rarely bruise normally. I noticed it was even worse when they took a lot of blood for the pre op testing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Juicing ?

It doesn't have to have a ton of sugar. I used to incorporate fresh vegetable juice for micronutrients. Makes you feel great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Approval time

I got a letter in the mail and told the PA. She had to go confirm it with the insurance coordinator. I guess it depends on the surgeon but you should definitely get a letter from Cigna.

  21. I did 6 months of the supervised diet, about a month of wrapping up lose ends for insurance requirements, and then another month for insurance approval and scheduling Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I kind of felt the same way in the beginning but I'm actually glad for the process. I went to my first appointment in February and I'm scheduled for 9/26. The process gives you time to mentally prepare and get in your new mind set. The time goes by quickly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Approval time

I decided to do six months of the supervised diet. They submitted for approval but one page didn't scan right. A week later we figured that out and resubmitted and they approved it one day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
