    Gastroparesis

I had partial gastrectomy with RNY September 8 for diabetic gastroparesis. Was only on liquids 24 hrs before and then of course nothing from midnight on. LOL. I remember nothing. I woke up at midnight after surgery, went for a walk and drank some Water. I took a total of two pain pills both days in hospital and regular Tylenol after that. Since surgery, I've had good days and some not so good days. I stick to mostly liquids and still take zofran for nausea a couple times a week. Overall, I'm doing better than before surgery. Best of luck Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Gastroparesis

Hi Darrell. I'm six week post RNY for diabetic gastro paresis. I hAd the same issues as you. I have good days and some not so good. In the hospital, before discharge, I asked the nurse practitioner what to expect dietary wise and she actually went back to the office and brought me a copy of their practices teaching guide. I've got about 50 lbs to lose and am losing it slowly. I drink two Premier Protein shakes and a small meal daily. Some days it's just the shakes. And lots of water! I live in Arizona so drink more than the minimum. Thefolks on thi board are wonderful, but not a replacement for your doctors guidance. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. I use Ross,Marshalls, and a second hand store, and the sales racks everywhere! I only buy one or two pair of pants as needed. Am down to a size 14 from 20-22. I haven't been able to work since May '15 so don't need an extensive wardrobe. I have LOTS of stretch pant and leggings work really well for me. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  6. Pork loin! Throw the meat in the crockpot, add two packages au jus mix, cover with Water and let it go! It's usually on high for five to six hours, then low until dinner time. Shreds easily and is great for tacos, bbq sandwiches, etc. usually lasts us (family of 5) a couple of days. We also do frozen or fresh chicken the same way but with chicken stock instead of au jus. Sometimes my sister will add green chili to both but my niece won't eat if she can see them. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  7. @LisaMergs. I'm only 6 weeks out and haven't tried steak yet. I soooo hope I can tolerate steak when the time comes. I'm really a carnivore at heart. I feel your pain! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  8. I read somewhere here that it's to decrease the size of the liver and make access easier. Don't quote me on that. Lol. I didn't have to do it myself. It was barely two weeks from my first visit to the surgeon and the actual surgery. I sometimes wish it had been longer though. I would have weaned myself off Diet Coke, tried to walk more and practiced eating small meals. Overall, I can't complain. I've lost twenty pounds and overall feel pretty good really. 9. I'm five weeks post RNY for diabetic gastroparesis. I've been happy with the results so far. I was amazed at how little pain I had given the extent of my surgery. I'm down 14 lbs and tolerating two Protein shakes and a small meal each day. Have had some nausea but nothing like pre op. Best of luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Hiatal hernia

I too, had a fairly large hiatal hernia. My doc found it during surgery and did the repair. I noticed a vague tightness just below my sternum. No pain really. Was up walking 6 hours post op. Only took two pain pills post op. I was lucky not to have much gas pain. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    endoscopy this friday

Worst part for me was the IV start. I'm a tough stick too. Be sure to tell your pre op nurse. Maybe they will start a smaller size....that's what worked for me. Good luck! PS I slept through the whole thing. Didn't even have a sore throat. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Eating out 5wks post-op

I had a banquet to attend 4 weeks post op. I scraped the sauce off the chicken breast, cut everything on the plate really small and just ate some of the chicken. With everything cut small, you couldn't tell if I ate anything at all. I also skipped the cheesecake for dessert. Even my sister thought I ate way more than I did. Sorry, should have mentioned I am post RNY 9/8/16 Mary Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
