God is testing me big time
vanderbilt has no idea I've injured my knee. Having a dual surgery there would be a really tough job. It is so very hard to ever get to see anyone anyway. If I can get pain free with my knee I want to have the lap-band done and then worry about the knee, but I realize I have to be pain free first. I don't think my cardiologist would ever give me clearance for a dual surgery because of the time I would be out, and I would prefer having me knee done under a block if possible. I have a good orthopedist here. Tennessee has some fine hospitals and he is known as a very good orthopedist. I'm just going to keep on praying and hoping, and I thank you all so much for those prayers. Please keep them coming.

God is testing me big time
I came to Tennessee to be with my daughter to get my lapband surgery at Vanderbilt. The first two weeks here I had pneumonia, but fortunately before it hit I went to the seminar and also saw a PA with all my paperwork done. They said it would be a couple weeks before I heard back. Well, here goes, Sunday I tore the medial meniscus in my right knee and ended up in the ER. I can't walk at all. I was at the orthopedists today who shot me full of steroids in hopes of getting a grasp on this but I have to go back next week and may need surgery to fix it. Meanwhile Vanderbilt is ready for me to proceed. They want me to see the surgeon and get my surgery date. I can't do it right now....walking is something I have to be able to do...so although I'm all approved and ready to go I can't. If you guys could throw a couple prayers my way that my let heals I would appreciate it. With God all things are possible. This is just one more test I think, but oh what a bummer.

American Idol
I can't believe Chris is gone. He was my American Idol. The only one there that is left that can sing is Elliott. Kathryn can't sing worth a dam. She is definitely not in the league of Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood and would be as big a flop as Fantasia is. I'm so sick of "old white hair" dancing his weird steps like he is convulsing that you forget he has kind of a good voice, but Elliott, alas nothing to look at, is the best of the 3 that is left. This is a misjustice that Chris is gone. Did no one vote? That's all I can think is they thought he was safe. Poor guy....but he is going to be big. He has an amazing voice. Just my two cents. Kathryn does NOT have the voice to be an American Idol and she is getting worse it seems every week.

Hello & Introduction
Hi to the newbie, and hi to you Susan. Just my luck I come to Tennessee and throw off all hopes of surgery for awhile. I've had pneumonia for 2 weeks and am just starting to feel better. I've been to Nashville once for 2 days to get acquainted...seminar here...saw a PA and turned in my history. It has been sent in to Medicare and I won't here anything for a couple weeks, but the fact is I need the time to get better. This is the sickest I've been since my heart surgery 5 years ago. I'm on a home nebulizer prescribed by the doctors here and am slowly getting better. This isn't the way I visualized this trip. As for getting fills in Boise if you were banded elsewhere...it doesn't happen. The two dr's. in Boise only see patients they have operated on and only do their fills, but any problems like it was stated they have to see you at an ER. I'm from Caldwell. I don't belong to the walking group but know Susan from being online. I came to Tennessee to Vanderbilt Hospital to have my surgery near family...but the date is really up in the air. Welcome to LBT.

I've Got the Blues!!!!
I've been off lap band talk for a couple weeks now. I came to be with my daughter in Tennessee to have my surgery. I have had pneumonia for the last couple of weeks and been very ill....much too much so to do much with my surgery at this point. The dr. figures it will be 2 weeks before I can even think about finishing up my appointments and the Lord only knows how long after that it is going to take. I know one thing...I sure have to feel a lot better first. I guess we all have some setbacks in life and there isn't much to do but take them in stride. Much luck to you.

I need a personal assistant to manage my leftovers!
Why not buy a dog? Mine eats what I eat...OK spoiled rotten, but it is better than throwing food away.

Lap Band on THE VIEW
Oprah is once again gaining weight and it is apparent...I don't think she has had any type of surgery. As for Wynonna...she loves food and is NOT ready to change that aspect of her life. I love her anyway. She is truly beautiful. I can't stand her mother however. Star Jones had bypass..sure of it. She couldn't have lost as fast on the band.

Phentermine
It's a dangerous drug. Along with never sleeping, dry mouth, non-stop talking and being jittery I got serious heart problems to go along with it. It isn't worth the risk.

No Edit Buttons?
On rechecking my racing forums, DRF allows you to edit or delete your own posts at any time, however, you cannot delete other peoples posts nor can you delete the thread, but you can delete your own post if you started the thread. The rest of the thread has to remain intact. You can edit at any time. On the other forum at Pace Advantage you can only edit for 1/2 hr. after which you must just reply in the thread but can't edit yours any longer, nor can you ever delete, so there is a variance in threads. I believe horseracing threads are much different because we actually handicap on them and they have a time stamp when you make corrections so they know it isn't before a race. Don't know if this helps any, but it is the difference in forums. I think if a person who starts the thread wants to delete what they wrote so be it, but the rest of the thread should not be able to be deleted. Just my thoughts.

Question about pee color (sorry)
It is when the urine is dark that you aren't getting enough water. You are probably drinking lots of water and that is great. I wouldn't worry for a minute. You really can't drink too much water. It is great for you. You can, however, drink too little which can lead to dehydration and lots of other things. Sounds to me like you are doing great..)

American Idol
Although I know many of you don't like her, you all know I think she will be standing when it comes to the bottom two. No one else has to like Kathryn, she likes herself a whole lot. She can't get enough of getting camera time and posing. Kellie did really bad on that song she sang, but it was just one performance. Was astounded to see Chris in the bottom three but knew he was safe. Elliott has an awesome voice and is beginning to show some personality. Paris sang like a champ for a young girl. My favorites are still Chris and Kellie. Another week gone and Ace with it. I liked him, but knew he was due to go home soon.

No Edit Buttons?
To answer your question Alexandra, NO you cannot delete a thread you or anyone else started. If you start something, well you better be able to finish it. There is a time-stamp on the editing part too. It allows you to edit for 1/2 hr. to correct spelling and then if you want to say anything else you have to do it in a different post. I don't think people should start a thread and be able to delete it at will to be honest (ducks from all the darts being thrown), but I do like the idea of editing for a mispelled word or something like that.

Anyone wear the Oprah bra?
Did you try the Breezie's Bra on QVC. It so sucks. I sent that one back. It was like wearing a suit of armour.

No Edit Buttons?
I belong to a lot of horse racing forums. We are allowed to edit and delete but there is a time stamp that goes on there. I think you should be allowed to edit because a lot of times you read your post and you have spelled something wrong you want to correct. I haven't come across any forums yet that you can't delete and edit on. Just curious where they are.

Beware of Ambien CR! LOL!! Long but worth it!
I started out on Ambien a year or so ago and changed to Ambien CR. I couldn't do without it. I have not gained a pound on it, nor has there been any change in me except getting a great night's sleep. I can confirm that unconditionally now that I'm staying with my daughter and son-in-law. I'm sleeping wonderfully on my Ambien CR and my C-Pap. I'm concerned something is seriously going on with your mom that may have absolutely nothing to do with Ambien. These are pretty severe symptoms that indicate an underlying problem. Please get her checked out......this could be far more than Ambien CR. Wish you luck. 3Loves...I sent you an e.mail my friend thanking you for all the Tony goodies and I will be sending you another after I go for my appt. on the 26th. I think we are looking at May. If I get approved alright, I have only 8 days of mushies and liquids to do...HORRAY. Vanderbilt informs me that they have never had a slippage or erosion, so that made me feel lots better. They said they have a great weight loss on the lapband so that is encouraging. I'm sooooooooooooo ready...just for the approval. All fills are included for 6 mo. at which time they guarantee you will be exactly where you belong and then you just need a check-up in a mo. or so, and I can do that here. BTW I tool Lunesta for a few weeks...did gain weight...didn't sleep well...and had a metal taste in my mouth. I was very glad to get the Ambien back.

First Fill: When Do You Know?
Leener, have you eaten anymore of those chocolate bunnies  They will stop your weight loss in a hurry.

The Bunnies are 6 days old--new pix
Jack Rabbits in Idaho get HUGE. Just thought I'd toss that in here.

I Just Ate a Chocolate Bunny!!
You telling me that chocolate bunny is stuck? LOL. Hey take PhotoNut's advice and get busy following protocol here. Tomorrow is another day. No more chocolate Easter bunnies....perhaps one jelly bean and call it a day.
-
I Just Ate a Chocolate Bunny!!
Well Leener you are now walking which is good, and you are eating which is very good. You just happened to have an off day and choose the wrong thing, but now you get to walk some more to go get another Easter bunny for the boyfriend. :Banane04:

2nd Day Post-Op and Needing Advise
I'm not banded yet but have heard that starting Metamucil with orange juice 2 weeks before surgery and immediately afterwards does wonders for the gas pain. If you go into surgery "with the colon :Banane04: empty it seems logical you wouldn't have as much gas. It's just what I've been told but I'm willing to give it a try.

Grand total price 51,896.40! Ouch!
Thank God for Medicare. Hospitals cannot overcharge them. They have a set price over and above the surgery that they allow and it has to be accepted...this is a great example why. $1000 pharmacy means probably very little pain med, certainly not $1000 worth. The other charge are rediculous and no wonder insurance companies are so leery of hospital charges. This is a good example of why insurance doesn't want to cover this surgery...who can blame them with prices like this?

Are there any people in Idaho here!
I'm also from Idaho, but am at my daughter and son-in-law's in Knoxville, Tennessee. I'm going to have my surgery here hopefully. I am a "happy escapee" and wish I could stay here forever... I wouldn't know you because I haven't had my surgery yet and when I do it will be in Tenn. and I will be going to any support meetings here. I hope you do as well as PhotoNut has done (and her hubby Dawg) with your lapbanding. She is a great inspiration. You will get lots of support there in Idaho I'm sure. Good luck to you.

R U a NASCAR Fan...Let's Talk!
I'm happy as can be to be here in Tennessee where they know what NASCAR is. They must have been thinking of that old guy Rod Stewart...Tony would make 3 of him LOL. I'm enjoying myself and the weather. Still think Tony ran an awesome race. He can sure drive through traffic. 3Loves...thanks a bunch for the Tony goodies. Dody:)

R U a NASCAR Fan...Let's Talk!
Greetings from Knoxville. I will be seeing a surgeon at Vanderbilt on the 26th of this mo. I had a great trip and am glad to be here. Tonly led most of the laps Sun. and came from 40th place to be in the lead by the 92 lap. I found that amazing, but then he is a great driver. He had to use his car up to get that far, so it is no wonder the pole sitter won. I'm happy for Kasey, he's a cutie, but Smoke was fantastic in his driving as usual. I'm here now where everyone knows NASCAR and no one asks me "Is Stewart A Singer"....beautiful weather right now. Dody
