For you guy's that weighed around 350 lbs. before surgery

i am 51 this September. I had my Surgery April 2017 and I was at my heaviest August 2016 at 395. I am at 252 and I am 5'11. I ride my bike between 8-16 miles everyday and I lift weights about 4 times a week. I am finally back up to to lifting heavy again which make weight loss slow down. The think what I notice the most is the weight does slow down after a year but your body keeps changing . I have noticed more as i am exercising more. The key to remember is we do this for the quality of life. I am able to do things again that had become so hard a few years ago. I do have loose skin mainly under my arms and my stomach hangs a little but this is changing also. As others say this takes time we have to let our bodies adjust to the new weight. Do not worry about the skin. Enjoy all the amazing things you can do.

    Post your progress pics!

Well it has been 1 year and two months. I had gastric sleeve done. I started at 395 and i am down to 260 but I could have lost a lot more. I am riding bike, walking 15,000 steps a day and still lifting weights. I do not take photos well as there is nothing i can do from the neck up. haha...

    April sleevers!?

I can start puréed foods on Wednesday and that will be three weeks of that. We can blended hard boiled eggs but they will not allow scrambled eggs over concerns we may eat the anover cooked/crispy part that could hurt the stomach. I miss scrambled eggs so much. I was sleeved April 26th.

    April sleevers!?

Yea I would thing the extra surgery you need would not help you energy and it would take more time for recovery. Thanks for replying and I am praying all my April sleevers get their energy levels up. I am doing more steps as I am just putzing around house trying to stay busy as my work let me off for a month for the surgery. I been with them for 24 years so they just said take 4 but if you want comeback early you can. Anyway I am sure once the weight restrictions are off and I doing normal stuff steps might go down. It is interesting figuring what the new normal will be with limited calories.

    April sleevers!?

Question on energy levels. My surgery was last Wednesday and i was able to start doing stuff right away although I have the 20lb limit. Since Tuesday I have been over 7,000 steps and actual on Tuesday I got 18,000 steps from mowing the lawn. Now it takes me all day to do this. I can do a couple hours and then rest for about 20 and drink. I can not push through like I could before as my body gives me hard stop signals to rest but that has been getting better every day. I think the hardest has been hydration. Just curious how others are adjusting to lower calories.

    April sleevers!?

I have been drinking MIO for my basic drink but starting to like ISOPURE and Premier Protein Clear protein drink. It is nice to get the supplemental protein as it helps with energy. Tired of soup but protein shakes are fine. Been walking about 7k steps since Saturday but my wife caught me on the bench press machine doing some reps of 40lbs and I got the look. So I have not done that since promised to wait until two weeks but I am ok to play with bands. I am amazed how good I feel and my hope is all my April sleevers are doing well. Tomorrow is first group meeting for nutrition. I suppose they need to get us ready for week two and three.

    April sleevers!?

Yep the the gas and liquid fighting for space. I do not mean to be rude but when you start tooting again it is amazing. Cold liquids are hard for me than warm but that is common. I also had surgery on Wednesday and still fighting gas but it is getting better.

    April sleevers!?

All done and on the morning of my second day. Pain did not hurt around incision but my lower cut hit but that is probably the anesthesia which I had a heck of a getting over. Gas pains do come and go. Doing sips of water but this morning I will be trying broths and stuff. I am not hungry or anything. Anyway good luck to the rest of the April sleevers

Tomorrow will be a week on the liquid diet and I am down 11 pounds. I have also managed to get to the gym 3 times also. Kept my normal exercises and weights the same. But the sets and reps are down a lot.

I am not sure this was a good idea. I think I will drive myself crazy watching this but I created my own countdown calendar. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170426T0530&p0=219&msg=My+Surgery&font=cursive
