The sad sad story of Protein Drinks At first it is so hard to drink it fast but as I went along I got to where I could do them like a shot. LOL I would hate to know how much $$ I have wasted trying to find one that I could do. Now I am 4 years out and I have tried pretty much all of them. Isopure was one that whoever can drink it I commend. Premuir gave me te " back door trots" I used them for Preop for 2 weeks and 4 weeks Postop. GROSS I kind of went thru a phase of Muscle Milk Protein, I mixed the gramcracker protein with Bananna Kind of tasted like a bananna pudding. But I couldn't find the gramcracker so I gave up on that one. I use GENEPRO everyday. Now I'm not telling you to run out and buy it, you need to check with your DR first. I don't want to stir you wrong. But I LOVE IT!!! I use it in my Espresso everyday. It has no taste, even makes my espresso taste creamy. I have to get a warm amount of Water to temper it before I add it to my coffee. No lumps and no taste. It does have a small odor. I jus don't smell it. LOL Since my surgery I have a very good smeller. LOL Have a wonderful Friday.

I'm on my two week liquid right now. Our doctors office has me on a brand called Unjury. It's not too bad. I really don't like the strawberry. I also am drinking Health Wise Soup, drink, pudding, Jello and soup. It's not awful. I plan on using the Premier brand when I go home from the hospital on Friday.

Make a good tasting Protein drink and you can write your own ticket. You will be rich beyond your wildest dreams.

I'm beginning to hate them, too, but I suppose Premier is the best I've tried. The vanilla is too sweet, and the banana is pretty sweet, too, but I can deal with the chocolate and the strawberries and cream. Barely.
I'm trying to find other ways to deal with this--getting some Protein from yogurt, from high-protein Soup (I'm actually using some Medifast packets a friend gave me--I'm just happy it's not sweet). Last night I made instant pudding with two scoops of protein powder--not terrible. But, you know, sweet. Among my favorite options is Atkins LIFT Protein Drink (and counts toward my Water, so bonus there).
But my desire to get past this stage to things like eggs and cottage cheese is enormous.

So, since I can't tolerate Carnation Instant Breakfast, my surgeon's office recommended that I try a water-based Protein supplement like Isopure from GNC. So, I bought a bag of "Strawberries & Creme" Protein Powder from GNC the other day. Put simply, I'd rather drink Pepto Bismol straight from the bottle than try that Isopure garbage ever again. I specifically asked the cashier lady at GNC "which one isn't the worst?" and she recommended this flavour of Isopure.
Does anyone else have any recommendations about Protein Drinks?

I'm almost two weeks post-op and went grocery (well, Protein Drink, mostly) shopping today. I thought I would keel over in the store. So weak . . . one possibility that occurred to me was that my blood pressure was too low--I've been on meds for high BP for years, but my BP at doctors' visits since this journey started have all been quite low. I'm wondering if I should cut back on my meds and if anyone else has had experience with this that they'd share. Thanks!!

I had mine on Wednesday morning, I would have gone to work today if I hadn't already turned in my time card. The only issue I have is when I sneeze, blow my nose or getting in and out of bed. My left side where they put the drain and the pump is very sore. I guess it is like having a hernia. They gave me some oxycodone and it knocks down the pain pretty well. I can't believe I am no longer hungry, Tomorrow, I get to add Greek Yogurt and cream Soups and Protein Shakes back to my diet.

On Amazon they have Protein Shots with 42g of Protein in them. They aren't great but it's better than a shot of tequilla, lol! There's also a broth on this store that has 15g of protein and the clear Protein Drinks ( tastes like flavored water ) from Sam's Club aren't to bad either. Maybe you could substitute one of the shakes. Good luck!

I prefer Premier Protein shakes, chocolate is my favorite. They have 160 calories, and 30 grams of Protein. I have been drinking them for about a year and a half

The Protein Shake I use is 100% whey Protein. I am not sure if there are artificial sweetners used in it but I don't think so. I get it from Vitamin World it comes in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I also have used the Quest Protein powders which come in various flavors, and I believe they are whey protein. I don't think I have seen anything that uses hemp based protein. I hope this helps, I just started the pre op diet today. Good Luck to you!

I just sent you an email feel free to reach out to me and let me know what's going through your head. I'm here for you. If your worried about infections why not ask the surgeon to give you antibiotics during and after surgery as a precaution. I have an artificial hip and I must have antibiotics before all procedures to make sure I don't get an infection in my hip. With the diabetes I am prone to infection so the precautionary measures do give me peace of mind.

Good luck on your surgery. I will pray that it is successful. Remember to take a good before photograph so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success. And after the surgery remember Walk, Walk, Walk.

I'm not even trying to get the house clean, it's too much of a stress adder. My problem is different. 4 days from surgery and I started having an allergic reaction to my Protein Shakes yesterday. I've got a call into my clinic (2 calls and an email actually. I have no idea what I'm going to consume for the next 4 days.

I totally get what you are saying. There was a time (not to far back) that I expressed my love of GENEPRO!!! I had quite a few people jump all over me!! That I was being misled all over the place and that GENEPRO was lying about how much Protein they had in it. Now I am ok with peole disagreeing, like was said NOT everyone has the same ideas as me. But...I have seen different ones on here. Not so much the ones that were here when I first started out. In a group like this we will all come accross someone that doesn't agree with us. There is a better way of saying it as how I was talked too. I was basically called a moron!! When I stated that it was sold here on BariatricPal Store. I was told it was just the money making that our leaders were into. There has to be a few in ever group. I try the old saying from one of my Favorite Disney shows. Thumper (I do love me some Thumper) His mom told him. If you can't say something nice, don't say NOTHING at all. Let's all agre to be better to each other. Everyone needs this site for support. Well I'm guilty[emoji1480]i definitely love emojis [emoji18][emoji30]lol but I also believe in tough love, i have probably read a lot of the post where the person was being xtra sensitive and wanted someone to basically lie to them and defend bad habits/behavior, not me I'm open to all feedback and understand that everyone wont agree, its ok to hear different opinions! I luv the honesty here! Thats a small part of why i continue to come here and the information of course! I just think there should be a little more dialogue when it comes to just conversations about the journey and not just about answering questions, I have a huge family but a small circle of people I've told about this surgery, not that their tired of hearing about it but its good to talk to other people who can relate to what your going threw! Yeah, I've hurt some feelings unintentionally with sarcasm. I wish I could convey tone in text easily.

LOL, I know the feeling of having to explain that I was being sarcastic--seems weird to many and completely normal to me.

I've had decent experiences here and have received great advice. There are definitely some tools around and some hyper sensitive folks that get upset if you don't use emojis and hugs and say everything in the most delicate way. I have no patience with either lol
